Answer:	I would say no, too. Gigging is not what this amp is designed for. There is a larger version of this amp (THR 100) that is made for gigging, but this amp is not your best choice. From Yamaha's promotional material this is a third (THR) amp for guitarists. Not for gigging or even band practice really but mostly private practice and recording ideas. Could a person mic it to a PA system and make it louder? Yes, but that is not the sweet spot for this amp. Yet for its purpose it's a nice amp.

Answer:	With the THR5, you cant controll the volume of the external input (your backing track like ipod and stuff).You can do that with the THR10.
Question:	Can you get Mesa tone from the THR10X or just THR
Answer:	IMHO it is more easilyachieved on the THR-10 because that was one of the voices they deliberately included (selection 5). However each of these units is hugely tweakable from within the PC software where you can change cabinets for instance to totally change up the tones. Adding a modulation effect (chorus. phaser, flanger), and especially by then selecting the 'MANUAL' mode where you can adjust the sweep frequency is also an incredibly useful tone-altering tool that many people never experiment with. You can sculpt almost anything combing that with a cabinet swap, and then playing with the two gain structures. Oh, and don't forget to add in some compression; either its own or an after-market pedal. Drving up the output gain (not the guitar volume) certainly will introduce some of that classic 'squash', but I find myself more satisfied using less of that gain and more compression. All the truly fat, juicy high-gain tones we love exhibit compression, no matter how it's achieved, and you simply won't be available to emulate some tones without it, no matter how much you jigger with these other controls I mentioned. So while it is more easily found on the THR-10, I'd bet that with some patience and effort, you could find it in the 10X too. What is much more diffciult to find on the 10X are truly nice clean tones; the kind you'd chicken pick with or play surf music. Even slightly broken up clean tones which you might want for Blues are harder to nail with the 10X. That's what makes the plain old '10' the most versatile of the three. Still, for fully saturated, harmonically rich high-gain tones, only the 10X serves those up so easily. Yamaha have done their homework and split things up to force you into owning at least two of these critters if your musical tastes are varied. Mine are and so I do.

Answer:	One c annot tell the 1.0.4 from the 2.0 since they are the same unit with different firmware. In my review I mention trying the 2.o firmware but then goling back to the original 1.0.4 because of its wider high-end range. Well about three weeks ago I changed back to 2.0 and have left it there. Everything sounds good on the amp but I think I now agree with users who favor the richer low end and midrange of the 2.0 firmware. Regardless what the unit comes with it's all freely updatable from the Yamaha website, so you can go back and forth and decide for yourself.

Answer:	Hi. Any of the onboard effects will work with the with Mic channels. One effect at a time, though.

Answer:	been trying to determine this for my own setup. thus far it seems No as the AUX is post fader. im trying to isolate the mic on the FX send and have it removed from the main mix.. nothing seems to allow this to happen. i can get the FX send to work but if the usb and the FX send are connected to the same source, both signals carry the mic audio...

This is used to record multiple sources at one time and make that into one Stereo/Mono audio output that can be used with a recording software, streaming software, or even a live speaker system. You can record the main output via computer, but even then, this will all be one audio stream, not one for each separate channel.

Answer:	There are a couple ways to do it: One, simply highlight what you wish to cut, then go into the "Edit" menu and click on "cut." The second way (which I would prefer) is to simply make a new take. Under "File" hit "new." And a new empty box for your recording will show up. Highlight what you wish to copy (leaving out the first three minutes) and drag it onto the new take. Good luck!

Answer:	You can either connect this keyboard to a computer with a USB cable (one side is the regular usb, the other side is an "A" still male end (the same as you would plug into a printer), or you can go out of the MIDI out with a midi cable into an Audio Interface that has a MIDI in slot. If you go straight out with a quarter inch cable into an audio interface you will receive the sounds from the keyboard and will have to edit it like a vocal mic.
