Question:	Hello, I do not understand the product description says: Soft or hard grade and Bass Duo-Pac, just that I get when you buy? I want the hard, thanks
Answer:	When I bought this, the product description used the same confusing language, but I actually received the "soft" grade. I checked with my instructor to make sure either soft or hard would be okay. I don't know why the description makes it seem as if you have a choice; I don't remember having an opportunity to pick the grade.
Question:	Soft versus cold weather.... Differences
Answer:	The rosin is similar to a soft candle. It hardens in cold temperature and softens when warmer. Very difficult to apply to the bow when hard (cold). Need to keep it warm - maybe in your pocket until you need to have it out in the rehearsal or performance area. It will also warm if left in the sun and not too cold in the air.

Question:	How new is your rosin? Me and my professional colleagues love pops, but only the 6 immediate months after it leaves the factory
Answer:	Hum... I bought it in April 2016. So I'm bordering on the 6 months. Until now I am very satisfied. I have to put quite a bit of it because I am new at doublebass and so is my bow. However, I can really feel and hear the difference between Pop's and the cheapy one that came with a bow I was using at the very beginning (I have to admit my first rosin was not meant for the Quebec weather though). I remember reading somewhere that Pop's would have to be changed once in a while because the rosin changes through time or something (and I thought I would never have time to go through one container before having to buy another one). If it can be of any use I can get back to you in October after that 6 months mark is a bit behind. Hope this helps! Erica
Question:	Hi! Is anyone using this for cello? The orchestra teacher advised students to use it
Answer:	It is stickier than standard cello rosin so it will take to the bow hair quicker. I suspect this is why the teacher is recommending it. There are negatives to it as well, however. It can be messier for your cello so be careful to wipe it off after playing.
Question:	How fresh/new is the rosin being shipped
Answer:	The one I received was perfectly fresh and sticky. I had an old, crusty one at home that I was replacing, and it was quite a big difference, Hope this helps!
Question:	I’m trying to think outside of the box for a solution to my dog’s slipping on our floors. Wld a bit of this applied to pads help
Answer:	I don't think that is a good idea. This is for a very specific application for playing music, and when I'm playing it creates a ton of residue from the friction. In the long term I think that would just ruin your floors and cause things like your socks and shoes to stick to the floor. The rosin would not hurt your dog, but it would be very difficult to apply to the pads on the feet since this is a solid block. I just don't think this is a good idea, even theoretically.

Question:	Is this the same as Carlson Bass Rosin
Answer:	Nyman is considered better for summer as it’s harder than the Carlsson, which is considered a softer rosin. There are also response differences that the bassist would have to try for his or herself. I live in the northeast and Nymans works great year round for me, and I find it very responsive to my bowing.

Question:	Could this be used to add friction to shoelaces to keep them from opening
Answer:	The rosin does build up on my strings causing me to have to clean them after each time playing. I think it would work. And they really are not expensive. Great idea! It may get tacky after a while though - like you may have to wash the shoelaces.

Question:	How does the jade l'opera rosin compare to the dark d'addario kaplan artcraft rosin
Answer:	To answer my own question... after having used both rosins I personally prefer the Jade. They are both good rosins, but the Jade seems less dusty and provides smoother flow of the bow without being excessively sticky. Personal opinions may vary on this, but having used both, the Jade seems to work a bit better overall. Some folks have tried to use a combination of both. I have experimented with this and found it to work well... a little bit of Kaplan, a little bit of Jade.
Question:	Will this turn my bow green
Answer:	Someone here has mentioned this, but I've been using this for almost a year and the bow hair is not visibly green at all. It goes on white like any other rosin.
Question:	Do you need to use something sharp to break the surface before using it for the first time
Answer:	No you don't. Using a sharp object on rosin will cause it to break into pieces and shorten its lifespan. What you do is simply apply the rosin to your bow hair. I find a few full bow strokes over the surface of the rosin is all that is necessary. This particular rosin is Jade green, and over time your bow hair will turn green. Use a washcloth to remove excess rosin from your strings where the bow comes in contact with them. Pinch each string gently with the washcloth between your fingers, and gently clean your strings one at a time. A washcloth can also be used to remove fingerprints from the body of your cello.
