The M-Audio Bass Traveler is a portable headphone amplifier with a pair of 1/8-inch headphone jacks, so you can increase the quality of what you’re listening to, then share it with someone else.
The sound quality out of a mobile device’s headphone jack or coming from the standard-issue computer’s soundcard leaves a lot to be desired, even if you’ve got spectacular headphones.
Many personal digital music players have a limited output for driving high-quality headphones, but the Bass Traveler has a two-level gain switch to boost the signal level, so the sound is always crisp and clear. It is ideal for use with virtually all headphones from 16-100 ohms, so you can get full performance out of your top-notch brand or just get more bass in your earbuds.
A rotary on/off/volume control makes it easy to operate. The long-lasting built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery provides several hours of uninterrupted listening enjoyment. There is an LED indicator for power on, low battery, and battery charge, and re-charging is done through the convenient micro-USB port.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I need a headphone amplifier?
Headphone amplifiers can be great for anyone looking to get the most out of their favorite pair of headphones and improve their overall listening experience.
Cell phones, tablets and other listening devices these days may sound ok for general use, but could be lacking in overall response. A good headphone amplifier can improve the frequency response, clarity and add a much needed volume boost for high impedance headphones. They can also help in loud environments where it may be necessary to turn the headphone volume up more than normal like playing drums to a backing track.
In addition, the Bass Traveler also features a second headphone output that can be used to split the signal to a second pair of headphones for a second listener.
What is impedance?
To avoid getting too technical, impedance in this case is the resistance your headphones apply to the incoming audio signal.
Picture a garden hose with water flowing through it. When you bend the hose, you are resisting the flow of water and therefore adding impedance. In order to get the same amount of water to flow out the end of the hose, you'll need to increase the water flow. The same applies to your audio signal. Impedance in an audio signal is measured in Ohms. The higher the ohms, the higher the impedance or resistance level.
Headphones come in a variety of different impedance levels to combat the large variety of ways in which we listen to music these days. Headphones with a lower impedance level are typically consumer style models like iphone earbuds (about 23 ohms). These work best with devices with weaker amplification systems like your iphone or tablet. Because of the lack of resistance, the iphone or tablet won't need to work very hard to push the signal through to your headphones.
On the other end of the spectrum, headphones with a higher impedance (over 50 ohms) are better suited for use with stronger amplifiers, most commonly found in professional audio or stereo equipment. If you use a pair of high impedance headphones with your iphone, you may find them lacking in volume level, frequency response or clarity.
This is where the Bass Traveler comes in and gives your headphones the extra boost they need to operate at their best. The Bass Traveler will support headphones with impedance from 16 ohms all the way up to 100 ohms.
How long does the battery last and how can I charge it?
The Bass Traveler should be charged initially for about 2 hours before its first use. After that, the battery should last about 6-8 hours on a full charge and will only take about an hour to charge back up again. The light on the Bass Traveler will flash to indicate a low battery charge and should be plugged in to charge again as soon as possible.
The Bass Traveler will include a USB to USB micro cable to plug the unit into a USB wall charger or free USB port on your computer for charging. Your computer will need to be turned on or providing power to its USB ports in order to charge the Bass Traveler. The light on the unit will turn purple to indicate it is charging and turn blue again once it is finished.
You can continue to use the device while it is plugged in.
Can I play audio over USB?
The Bass Traveler will not accept any audio signal via USB, only the 1/8" (3.5mm) input. This allows the device to work with virtually any modern music listening device with a headphone port. You can, however, continue to use the Bass Traveler while it is plugged into a USB port and charging.
What does the Boost switch do?
The Boost switch is a pre-set bass boost EQ that can be switched to off (flat), a slight increase (M), or a max increase (H). This can be helpful for headphones with a limited bass response or for users that just need that extra boost in the low end.

M Audio’s new Hammer 88 is an affordable, fully weighted, hammer action keyboard for professional and semi pro players or students looking for a realistic grand piano feel to use with virtual instruments or sound modules.
It features fully assignable MIDI buttons, pitch bend and modulation wheels, sustain pedal, secondary pedal and expression pedal inputs—while providing a clean aesthetic for players more concerned with compositional accuracy than editing and tweaking.
Hammer 88 is USB powered, class compliant, and supports USB MIDI connectivity. Plus, Hammer 88 supports iOS connectivity with the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (sold separately), enabling you to perform and compose with audio apps on your iPad and other iOS devices. Please note that when you press a key on the keyboa rd, you will not hear any sound. This is because pressing a key causes the keyboard to send out MIDI data. MIDI data gives instructions on how a sound should play, but in order to actually hear that sound you need to configure your music software to read the MIDI data being sent from the Hammer 88 and play the sound back accordingly

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the Hammer 88 have screw connections on the bottom to secure to a stand |
Answer: | I've had my casio for over a year now and have had no problems with the keys. I like the piano very much. |
Question: | Would some who studied classical piano for many years be happy with the action as practice keyboard? Most I’ve tried are too spongey weird weighting |
Answer: | I connect my WK660 to my computer via usb cable, and immediately it is recognized by Windows. I use FL Studio, so I just go to MIDI settings and select Casio in the list for output/input MIDI. Thats it. THen I can use my KW660 as a MIDI controller |
Question: | When the controller is placed on a desk, what is the height (precisely measured if possible) from the desk surface to the top of the white keys |
Answer: | It has piano-style keys but they are not weighted. |
Question: | Are the keys full sized, like a real piano keyboard, or are they smaller, like many other keyboards |
Answer: | No, it does not. The only way to add voice would be to plug in to an external amp/speaker that also had a microphone. The external device would also need an output to a recording device. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does the midi software (velvet, xpand, and mini grand) work as plugins with Ableton 9? As a vst? or are they stand alone |
Answer: | They should work both ways |
Question: | What kind of usb connector is needed to connect to an iPad with (lightning cable |
Answer: | I wanted to connect my Yamaha p125 to my ipad and was told to buy that ridiculously expensive Apple Camera Adapter. Instead, I bought an Amazon Basics regular USB to iPad Pro USB adapter for around 10 bucks. Works the same and a whole lot cheaper. Don't believe me? Go to Sweetwater's website and look at the demo video using the Yamaha keyboard with the ipad Pro. You can see the same adapter. |
Question: | Will this work with Mac Mojave |
Answer: | This is from the M-Audio website FAQ's: Will the Keystation Mini 32 MK3 work with my Windows or Mac computer? Yes! The Keystation Mini 32 MK3 is a class-compliant device, which means that it's plug-and-play and does not require any drivers to be installed. This also means that it will work and is supported on the latest operating systems, including Windows 10 and Mac 10.14. The important take-away, for everyone, is this: "The Keystation Mini 32 MK3 is a class-compliant device". |
Question: | Is the 49 key semi weighted as well |
Answer: | I owned the Keystation 88 II, which has the semi-weighted feel. So, rather than guess at the answer to your question, I just checked the M-Audio website. Their description says that the Keystation 49 MK3 has a synth action. That type of action, typically, is a lighter spring feel than the semi-weighted feel. I actually liked the feel,of the 88 II. I owned two of them. One lasted four years. The second unit only one and a half years. I take particularly good care of my equipment. And don’t pound on the keys. However, they both failed far too soon, in my opinion. I have switched to the Nektar brand. Only time will tell about their durability. Good luck with your choice. |

Sound Matters
A studio monitor is no ordinary loudspeaker. A true monitor must be unerringly accurate, with a flat frequency response and vanishingly low distortion. It has to tell you, the music producer dependably and unquestionably exactly what is or is not in your recording. Introducing M-Audio’s BX5-D3 monitors—the return of a studio icon and the successor to the industry-renowned BX-D2 monitors. Trusted by recording/mix engineers and composers globally, M-Audio’s BX monitors guarantee absolute surgical precision and repeatable engineering excellence - with M-Audio’s BX5-D3 studio reference monitors, listen with confidence.
Studio-Grade Drivers
A monitor’s drivers are the heart and soul of its performance. Driving the low-end and midrange, BX5-D3’s 5-inch military-grade Kevlar woofers are rigid and lightweight, delivering outstanding transient response whist negating unwanted 'cone breakup.
BX5-D3’s treated silk dome tweeter provides the perfect combination of low mass and the absence of audible resonances that plague conventional tweeters. Together, the BX drivers deliver critical detail, nuance and dynamic accuracy, so your mixes have the veracity and transparency you demand.
Its all in the Enclosure
With M-Audio’s BX5-D3, every detail has been meticulously engineered with one goal in mind - to facilitate the freedom to mix with confidence. BX5-D3 monitors have a rear-mounted bass port, precision engineered to the exact length and diameter. The result? Deep, defined bass response with maximum bass extension and resolution. BX5-D3’s tweeter is mounted in a custom waveguide for reliably accurate dispersion that eliminates unwanted high-frequency 'scatter,' whilst ensuring a wide and stable soundstage. Finally, BX5-D3’s iconic 'fastenerless' design on the front panel, ensures so there are no driver attachment screw heads to interfere with the sound coming from our drivers.
Class A/B Bi-Amplified Power
Efficient and accurate: Driving the BX5-D3 monitors are two Class A/B internal amplifiers that power the woofer and tweeter separately - each optimized for the specific frequency range it handles and engineered to complement the characteristics of its companion driver. A precision-tuned crossover guarantees each driver only handles the frequencies that it produces most efficiently for a sound that is cohesive across the entire frequency spectrum. Play louder with less audible distortion: The BX5-D3 bi-amplified design is a far more efficient and accurate way to power a loudspeaker than using a single full-range amplifier to drive multiple driver elements.
Tailor Made Sound
At M-Audio, we understand no two listening spaces are the same. Negate problematic bass frequencies and limit the impact of nuisance standing waves thanks to BX5-D3’s special acoustic space control for precise adjustment of BX5-D3’s sound output in line with your studio space.
Connectivity Covered
Whatever you needs, the BX5-D3 Studio monitors guarantee to assimilate into your existing setup with ease. Combining conveniently-located, rear-mounted XLR and 1/4-inch balanced inputs, BX5-D3 connects to virtually all studio equipment including mixers, interfaces and more.
Find The Sweet Spot
When monitoring, it is critical to source the ideal listening position (or 'sweet spot') between the two speakers for an optimized stereo image. The BX5-D3’s front-mounted positioning LED shines brightly when you’re located in the perfect listening spot, for accurate and reliable mix evaluations.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this pedal work with all Korg keyboards |
Answer: | The pedal has reversible polarity, so it will work with all keyboards. |
Question: | Does this pedal have a gradient on the sensitivity for the sustain, OR is it an on/off sustain switch |
Answer: | It appears this is a simple on/off switch pedal. For continuous or gradient performance the phrases to look for in sustain pedal description are "half-damper" or "half-pedaling." If there is no indication by the manufacturer of one of those descriptions, the pedal is just an on/off switch. If your digital piano or electronic keyboard supports half-damper, then a half-damper pedal varies the nature of the sustain effect based on how far down you depress the pedal. The only half-damper pedals I have found so are the Yamaha FC3A, Roland DP-10, and Korg DS1H. The half-damper effect emulates the action on an acoustic piano of lifting the felt damping pads only part way off of the strings. |
Question: | Where is the cable of the pedal |
Answer: | its permanently attached to the pedal. |
Question: | For a while, my pedal sustained when NOT depressed, sort of a reverse functionality, which I actually appreciated...but can't replicate. Anyone else |
Answer: | According to the FAQ on the manufacturer's web site (for the SP-Double and SP-Triple), ¨Are the pedals switchable? The pedals will not have a switch to change polarity and will operate as normally open. This means that the pedal will send a value of 0 when up and a value of 127 when pressed down all the way. Different manufacturers may program their keyboards to respond to the opposite (127 when up, 0 when down) and to combat this some pedals may come with a switch to change the polarity of the pedal to match that of the keyboard. Typically, though there are ways around this without the need for the switch.¨ (The article is on the manufacture's website at: http://m-audio.com/kb/article/1967 ) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the used m-audio uber mic comes with the software as well |
Answer: | Highly unlikely. As driver support for that version of windows has stopped completely from microsoft itself. If it is going to work i think you would have quite the task ahead of you in order for it to work. |
Question: | What are the sampling rate and bits |
Answer: | M-Audio support here! Since the Amplitube 4 utilizes audio sources from sound cards or audio interfaces, it will work fine with the 2X2. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. |
Question: | Is this better than vocal studio |
Answer: | M-Audio support here! Although we only support Windows and Mac operating systems with this interface, it is class compliant so it may work properly on an Ubuntu system. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. |
Question: | Can I install a pop filter on the base of the microphone if I install the extra piece that comes with it |
Answer: | Hi Shadow HR,M-Audio support here! We don't anticipate the M-Track 2x2 being unsupported for some time. This is our most recent audio interface in our line, and the products that no longer have driver updates are items that were designed by AVID when they owned M-Audio. I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, I'd love to answer them. Please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. |

Product description
Micro DAC is a USB digital-to-analog (DAC) converter with two outputs, one analog and one digital (optical).
It's ideal for converting the audio from your computer into a high-quality analog format without needing to carry anything larger than a flash drive.
The sound quality available from the typical headphone jack on a portable device or coming from the standard-issue soundcard found in virtually every computer leaves a lot to be desired. Micro DAC delivers a marked upgrade in sound quality, compared to just plugging your headphones directly into your unit's headphone jack. Use the 1/8-inch analog output to connect any headphones, and enjoy vibrant high-fidelity sound. There is a gain switch that boosts the signal level, so you can drive even high-impedance headphones to a robust loudness level.
And since virtually all high-quality audio equipment has an optical digital input, Micro DAC's optical digital output is perfect for driving that equipment with a pure digital signal - especially valuable since most computers to not have a digital output.
Micro DAC has a rugged aluminum housing and is USB-bus-powered.
Getting professional-quality audio from your computer couldn't be easier!
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Micro DAC require any drivers?
The Micro DAC is class compliant with both Mac and Windows operating systems, meaning it does not require any additional drivers. Class-compliant devices are designed to use standard drivers that are built into the Mac and Windows OS. This makes the device quick and easy to setup.
How do I set this up on Mac/Windows?
Because the Micro DAC is class compliant, setting it up is as easy as selecting it as your playback device in your systems Sound Preferences. Here's a quick way to do that:
Windows
- Navigate to your Control Panel
- Select Sound
- Under the Playback tab, find the device labeled USB Audio DAC
- Click the Set Default button at the bottom of the window to select it as your playback device
- HitOK to exit the window
- Navigate to your System Preferences
- Select Sound
- Pick the Output tab at the top of your sound window
- Find and select USB Audio DAC from the list of available output
Mac
Alternatively on a Mac, you can also hold down the Option key and click on the speaker icon at the top right of your screen to select your input and output devices.
How do I adjust the volume?
The Micro DAC will be essentially replacing the sound card in your computer, so the volume will be adjusted the same way you would adjust volume when using the headphone output or built in speakers on your computer. Some laptops and computers will have volume up or down buttons available on the keyboard, but otherwise this can normally be adjusted by clicking on the speaker icon in the top right of your screen (Mac) or bottom right of your screen (windows) and using the slider to adjust the output volume.
What is the impedance switch for?
The impedance switch is used to adjust the output volume to compensate for headphones with high or low impedance values.
When referring to headphones, impedance is essentially the amount of resistance being applied to the incoming audio signal. So, headphones with a higher impedance value require more power in order to provide the same amount of volume as a pair of low impedance headphones.
For example, imagine a garden hose with a nozzle on the end. When the nozzle is mostly closed, you are applying resistance to the flow of water (impedance), and less water is able to flow through the hose. But if you turn up the flow of water, you can increase the amount of water that is able to flow through that point.
It's important to understand impedance in order to properly use the device with your headphones. Using the low impedance setting with high impedance headphones will result in low volume and possible some noise or hiss. Adversely, using low impedance headphones with the high impedance setting could cause distortion, overload, and potentially damage the headphones.
Low impedance headphones are much more common and consumer grade (apple earbuds), whereas high impedance headphones are professional grade. If you are unsure of the impedance value of your headphones, check with the manufacturer. Low impedance headphones are typically categorized by anything lower than 50 ohms (Ω) and high impedance is anything above 50 ohms (Ω).
What do I use the digital output for?
The Micro DAC includes a TS to RCA(S/PDIF) digital cable for use with a digital input on another device. This can be an easy solution to send the audio output of your computer to a stereo receiver with a digital coaxial or S/PDIF input.
It's important to note that although this does look like a common RCA cable, a connection type popular with most home stereo units, the signal is digital and not compatible with the standard AUX input on your stereo. This will require a specific digital input which will often be colored yellow and featured on it's own on the back of your receiver, TV or other device. Check with the manufacturer of your device to find out if it has any digital inputs for this use.
The digital output could also be used in a studio setup to send audio from one computer to a S/PDIF input on an audio interface or mixer.
What bit/sample rates will the Micro DAC support?
The Micro DAC will support up to a 16 bit/48 kHz bit/sample rate that will be adjustable from your computer's standard Sound Preferences. When using the digital output it's important to make sure that the sample rate matches the sample rate of the device to which you are sending the signal. Here is a quick way to change the operating sample rate of the Micro DAC:
Windows
- Navigate to your Control Panel
- Select Sound
- Under the Playback tab, find the device labeled USB Audio DAC and double click on it
- Find the Advanced tab
- Use the drop-down menu to select your desired sample rate
- Hit Apply and OK to exit
- Navigate to your Applications folder and the then your Utilities folder
- Find and open the Audio Midi Setup
- If you do not see a window appear, click on Window at the top of your screen and select Show Audio Devices
- Select the USB Audio DAC from the list on the left
- Use the Format drop-down menu to select a new sample rate
Mac
- Navigate to your Applications folder and the then your Utilities folder
- Find and open the Audio Midi Setup
- If you do not see a window appear, click on Window at the top of your screen and select Show Audio Devices
- Select the USB Audio DAC from the list on the left

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the 192 version play lower resolution files also |
Answer: | Hi, M-Audio support here! Thanks for your question. Our AIR|HUB interface does not feature any audio inputs however, this is achievable with our AIR 192|4 interface. I hope this helps and If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly - [email protected] Thanks, Krishan |
Question: | Has anyone tried this with an iphone or ipad using the usb adapter |
Answer: | I'm using it with FCPX but it operates outside FCPX as an alternative audio output for my Mac. So all apps play out through this. It gives you balanced audio so none of that hum you get with unbalanced. If you're using a Mac it's virtually plug and play. With PCs you might need a driver. Its Pro-Tools friendly so my assumption is that would be that it would work with Avid. If you email the manufacturer they'll get back to you within a few days. |
Question: | Does this increase sound volume over the standard headphone jack and soundcards from most laptops |
Answer: | Hi, M-Audio support here! Thanks for your question. The software supplied with the AIR|HUB will be compatible with most other hardware and DAW's! Please note to check your system requirements and software support by visiting airmusictech.com - I hope this helps and If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly - [email protected] Thanks, Krishan |
Question: | Does this require drivers when using on a Mac with Sierra |
Answer: | Hello, If you are trying to record an instrument, you can not plug an instrument cable or mic cable directly into this box. However if you have a mixer with a usb output, you could plug the mixer inter the AIR Hub. What the AIR hub does have is multiple usb ins and great 1/4 inch stereo outputs for speaker systems. The two volume knobs serve well for using headphones and speakers. So for Bass guitar you will need more than this box. Cheers, Chris |

You're probably thinking something like, "Yeah, sure I do — it's filed in my brain right between my social security number and my bank PIN." But seriously, this is important. Now, you could run off in search of your manual, or you could do yourself a favor and just buy an M-Audio SP-1 Sustain Pedal in the first place and save yourself the trouble. User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this pedal to map to different parameters in my daw? thank you |
Answer: | I also have energy 35 and the bow fits the case fine. The case is a little heavy but it work |
Question: | Does this pedal have tip connectivity or ring connectivity |
Answer: | Depending on your bow and how the quiver mounts to it, it can fit but may not. I have the five arrow tightspot on a bowtech reign 6. The case will close with the quiver attached but only if I remove two of the arrows and angle the bow. I usually take the quiver off rest it on the strings to secure and close the case. I've used all last year like that and never had any issues. I have been very pleased with the case. My favorite one I've ever had. |
Question: | Can i use this pedal for yamaha ypg 235 piano |
Answer: | I have a Bear Anarchy HD which is taller cam to cam. My draw length is 32" so I'm thinking most compound bows should fit. |
Question: | Can I use this as a MIDI toggle for the record button in Ableton |
Answer: | I can get it to hold my quiver without arrows in the quiver. |
