| Answer: | The hooks are very sturdy, but the main consideration is how the hooks are fastened to the wall. I recommend using a longer screws and mounting the hooks to a stud behind the drywall, or using a set of heavy duty drywall taps if the bass is more than 10lbs. I hung three guitars including a Fender Strat that was 8.5 lbs with no problem. The hooks come with a set of screws. The screws are not long enough to screw deep enough into a stud behind drywall. I used a longer set of screws that better matched the drywall taps I was using. |

| Answer: | A violin case will probably be too small to work properly with the CC29. |

| Answer: | For someone confident and basically skilled with these sorts of things, it's quite simple. I made a couple of easily corrected mistakes 1st try, due to being overconfident and not closely reading the instructions. But I got it right on the 2nd try after taking it apart and putting it back together. Sounds like you might have a bit of trouble if you're nervous about it, so I'd suggest asking a friend who's good at this sort of thing to help you with it. The instructions are precise and right, but there are a couple of subtleties in how the pieces are oriented and aligned that I missed 1st time around. Any competent handyperson should be able to get it right 1st try if they carefully follow the instructions, lay it out on a large table or the floor first, then put it together exactly as the instructions show. and tell. NOTE: I did *NOT* glue the pieces together as the instructions say to do. As it turned out, that allowed me to take it back apart and correct my errors with no difficulty. I didn't glue them together on the final (2nd) try either -- I want to be able to take it apart again later if I need to pack and ship it, store it away or pack it for moving. If the pieces were glued I wouldn't be able to do that. I'm using the rack now with 5 cases on it and it's holding up just fine, so I don't think the glue is really necessary, unless you're going to be traveling with it a lot, say, or moving it around a lot, folding and unfolding often, etc. |
| Question: | Any recommendations for restaining the oak darker? strip and sand first |
| Answer: | I was happy with the rack and its color. I got a bunch of guitars off the floor in stored in in a good-looking, functioning rack. Having refinished furniture before, I recommend sanding the wood thoroughly before applying your preferred stain. |
