12 best semi acoustic guitars
Semi-acoustic guitars, also known as hollow-body or semi-hollow guitars, are a type of electric guitar that combines elements of both acoustic and electric guitars. Here's some information about semi-acoustic guitars and related accessories:
Design and Construction: Semi-acoustic guitars have a hollow or semi-hollow body design, which is similar to that of acoustic guitars. This design allows them to produce a warmer, more resonant tone compared to solid-body electric guitars. However, they also have a center block running through the body, which reduces feedback at high volumes and enhances sustain.
Tone: The semi-acoustic guitar's tone is characterized by its rich, warm, and mellow sound. It's well-suited for genres like jazz, blues, rockabilly, and some forms of rock. The hollow body contributes to its unique tonal characteristics.
Pickups: Semi-acoustic guitars typically feature one or more pickups, allowing them to be amplified. Common pickup configurations include single-coil, humbucker, or a combination of both. These pickups capture the natural resonance of the hollow body while offering versatility in tone.
Amplification: To amplify a semi-acoustic guitar, you'll need an amplifier and suitable cables. Amplifiers come in various sizes and styles, catering to different performance settings and genres.
Accessories: Various accessories are available for semi-acoustic guitars, including:
Cases and Gig Bags: These provide protection during transportation and storage. Acoustic classical guitar bags and cases are designed to fit the shape and size of semi-acoustic guitars.
Strings: Strings for semi-acoustic guitars come in different gauges and materials, allowing players to customize their tone and playability.
Straps: Guitar straps provide comfort and convenience for playing while standing.
Tuners: Electronic tuners help maintain accurate tuning.
Picks: Guitar picks come in various materials and thicknesses, affecting the attack and tone of the guitar.
Effects Pedals: These can be used to shape and enhance the guitar's sound, with options like reverb, delay, distortion, and more.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including cleaning, string changes, and truss rod adjustments, is essential to keep your semi-acoustic guitar in optimal playing condition.
Notable Brands: Some well-known manufacturers of semi-acoustic guitars include Gibson, Epiphone, Gretsch, Ibanez, and Yamaha, among others.
In summary, semi-acoustic guitars offer a unique blend of acoustic and electric qualities, making them a popular choice for musicians who appreciate their warm and versatile tones. When owning one, it's essential to consider accessories like cases, strings, and amplifiers to enhance your playing experience and protect your instrument.

Question: | Does this hard case have the 4 little metal feet on the end to stand it on? Does it have a lock and key |
Answer: | I does have lock and key, can't remember about the 4 little feet tho. That's never been a concern of mine. |
Question: | Is this a junior or |
Answer: | Full size |
Question: | Beginner here. can i switch the strings out for nylon. if so what kind/type/size do i buy |
Answer: | No reason why you cant. Just be aware that the sound of nylon strings will not be as strong or full on a dreadnaught style as the steel strings. Mine came with 12s. I considered changes them to say, 10s, but my fingers quickly callused up to the 12 after a few days of pain. I practiced very brief periods of time several times a day until then. Been practicing a few hours a day since then for about 8 weeks and I dont really notice any discomfort now. But there is nothing wrong with starting with nylons. |

The latest APX600 features a unique under-saddle piezo pickup, the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer featured in the highly-acclaimed a series range, a natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound guitarists crave. Question: | Does Amazon have a package deal that includes a case with the white "600" model |
Answer: | I did not see a package offer when I was buying mine. |
Question: | how thick is the width? and is this "real" wood or particle board |
Answer: | The width is the same as my cell phone. The wood is solid of course. The top sides and back may be laminate but by no means is it some cheap "particle board".. Remember the cost is budget friendly and the materials are too. But Yamaha has a very nice sounding and playing guitar here for a very reasonable price. In my 40 years of playing is it the best..no..is it a great guitar for the price...Absolutely! |
Question: | What is a good gig bag for this |
Answer: | I bought the hard case for it and it fits perfect. Case has a small cubby for strings, picks, strap. Can't help you with a soft gig bag. Yamaha AG2-HC Hardshell Acoustic Guitar Case for APX and NTX Series https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D53JG5I/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apap_jzHYy5wurOYGp |
Question: | how wide is the body in inches? my rogue rd80 (dread) is 16" wide and i hate it, im looking for something smaller than |
Answer: | This guitar is 42.2 x 5 x 19.7 inches. It doesn't seem like a child's guitar at all. I'm quite small and it's very comfortable. If the specs are not on the Amazon page where it is sold, it should not be trusted. I bought the 400 when it came out and the 600 when the 500 was no longer available. If size is important, I would try one at a guitar or music store. |

Question: | I wonder how close to the steve howe sound of "siberian khatru" i could get with this guitar |
Answer: | It sounds both low volume and tinny when played unplugged. I bought a used one at a local guitar store for about $250. It plays and sounds great and the build quality was quite surprising and stunningly beautiful in a sort of emerald green with ivory binding. Looked like a $1000 guitar hanging in the store. |
Question: | Can it be played acoustically |
Answer: | The Ibanez AG100C Artcore Case is made to fit this guitar. http://amzn.to/2jxKVqp |
Question: | what hardshell case would fit this guitar |
Answer: | yes, as far as beginner guitars go this would be perfect. Honestly if u need a fatter or thicker sound going forward get new pick ups in it. Will it be like a Gibson hollow body ? no but still a good starter guitar. I do a lot of jazz/ blues/ it works great and can even take overdrive very well. |
Question: | I'm a complete novice and I want to play jazz/swing standards. Is this a good starter guitar for me |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these fit an epiphone sg special |
Answer: | Yes. There are specific ports (Ports 5 and 6) that can be set up using dip switches on the PP2+ that will power your DL4 with no issues. Only ports 5 and 6 will work, and you must set the dip switches to the "on" position, but it will work. Voodoo Labs has excellent support too, so if you have any concerns, I'm sure they will help you out. |
Question: | What does it mean by semi closed |
Answer: | If you are talking about total draw of all pedals, yes, but if you have a pedal that needs those current draws, then no. What pedal needs 2000ma? I don't know of any multiple output power supply that will put out that much current. Even multi-effects pedals don't need that much that I know of. It does full isolation and made my pedals sound better and reduced background noise. |
Question: | Will they fit a squire acustic |
Answer: | You use this instead of a daisy chain, to isolate the power to each pedal so it doesn't replicate any problems between pedals. It should help a lot, just use the individual power supplies they give you and don't use the chain at all anymore - that will defeat the purpose. It's also awesome because it powers pretty much any pedal you buy, 9v, 12v, 18v - individually. |
Question: | will these work on a 3/4" headstock |
Answer: | This is very similar to just plugging all your pedals into a power strip. That assumes you have AC adapters for each pedal. Most pedals don't come with one and some are $20 or so. I actually have a bunch of AC adapters, but this is much more convenient. It's even nicer if you use one of these with a pedal board such as the Pedaltrain which has brackets to mount this power supply. As far as a daisy chain kind of thing like the Boss or Visual Sound that lets you connect multiple pedals, those are fine up to a point. I have the Boss daisy chain and I noticed that if I connect it to my wah wah pedal, I get a loud hum when I use the pedal. It just doesn't get enough power to the pedal. So I would use the daisy chain but then plug the wah wah pedal in using an AC adapter. The voodoo is just neater and more convenient. Each output is isolated so it's not just a daisy chain. Each pedal gets its own power individually. It can still be used with a daisy chain like the Visual Sound or Boss if you have more than 8 pedals. But again, if you have AC adapters for all your pedals and a power strip, that works too. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will a Gibson 335 fit in this bag |
Answer: | These tuners fit exactly perfect on my SG Special and are 10x better than the garbage one's it came with. There's no play in them and keeps the guitar in tune much longer. For under $20 you can't go wrong and i would recommend them. |
Question: | What's the max guitar length this case will fit |
Answer: | It means it does not have a solid body. It has a fitted cover over the gear mechanism. |
Question: | What are the inside dimensions of this bag |
Answer: | I bought these for my acoustic; it's not a squire, but it fit my acoustic perfectly. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Will this fit an Epiphone dot |
Answer: | I don’t think so as I have a Fender Squire Strat and it seems to be made for THAT thickness of headstock. The ones with longer ‘posts’ will say it in the description or offer it as a choice, depending how much you’re spending. |
