User questions & answers

Question: Is this good for recording into a DAW
Answer: It can play most common time signatures, but it does not have the ability to shift signatures mid song or add off-signature syncopation. It's a very good drum machine, but it won't be like a live drummer.
Question: does it come with AC adapter
Answer: Yes there is a list of drum variation in the manual included, and you can also download the manuals to your phones or tabs to have all the list of genre.
Question: Does this have the ability to play swing or jazz type grooves
Answer: I'm afraid 13" djembe head might be too wide the gig bag, I have a 12.5" djembe head it's a tight squeeze getting it to zip up. Zipper tabs broke attempting to zip up the bag, had to replace the tabs with strings.
Question: Is there a list of drum kit variations? It would help to have a reference to see which variation number corresponds to swing eighths or a genre
Answer: I think It will fit withouth a sy problem

User questions & answers

Question: Do i need a trs cable for using this with my beatbuddy mini 2, or do i use the cable supplied with this unit
Answer: You can use the supplied cable.
Question: Will it work for a Boss RC 1 looper
Answer: It should work for any unit that calls for a momentary switch with TRS input.
Question: Does it doeverything that the beat buddy switch does
Answer: Mine seems to do everything that the DrumBuddy manual says you can do. You do have to get into the drum buddy and program the things that you want the switch to do and that can get a little confusing. But the switch is just a switch, nothing fancy and it does what their switch does, it does what the drumbuddy tells it to do.
Question: Can anyone confirm is this will work with beatbuddy? Thanks in advance
Answer: I read that it would work, bought one, and it works great with my beat buddy!

User questions & answers

Question: Does the aux in save to stereo? I have a jam man solo xt with aux in and it converts to mono
Answer: Yes you can, but you need to mic the guitar first in order to input sound into the pedal, otherwise the pedal will not record as it does not have an embedded mic.
Question: Can the nux loop core unit use Nimh recahargable batteries, can it work with a Mac, does it use wave files
Answer: absolutely. You probably figured this out already, but for anyone with the same question, put your multi pedal first if you want the effects to be loopable, and run the cable off the Nux into the input of the amp. If you have an effect loop amp you are in luck, because you can run your multipedal into the front of the amp and the looper in the effect loop. This way you can turn off all your effects, or only turn on certain ones, play a loop that way and keep it clean or only affected by what you want, then change the settings on the amp or whatever, and play over the top of the still unchanged loop with the new settings. You can only do this if you use the ME20 for all your effects. If you try to run effects etc on both the amp and the pedal, when you change your amp settings you affect everything. Run your amp on a clean setting for stuff like this. If you run everything into the front of the amp (no effect loop amp, for example) you have a problem then with your loops changing every time you change settings on the amp unless you keep the amp clean always, OR only use amp effects and no use the multi pedal for that song/songs. Its a bit mind boggling at first. It took me a while to get my head around it all with cables and pedals and what signal goes where in the amp (or not). My suggestion is that if you have an amp with effects, use those first and not a multi pedal or effect pedals. If you have pedals, run the amp clean and use the pedals. Its only when you try to combine the two that it starts to get confusing! Then, ye old trial and error is your friend.
Question: can you use with a non electric acoustical guitar
Answer: Probably no. It does not have a MIDI interface, which would be useful when recording.
Question: I have a boss me - 20 pedal, could you connect each other? i mean, could you connect the nux looper with others brands? thank you
Answer: Yes it does come with an ac adapter!

User questions & answers

Question: Within each preset are there variations available on the fly. Also are drum fills available on the fly
Answer: Yes to both questions
Question: Are the presets (bass and drums) good for jazz and Latin? (Fusion, bop, bossa, etc
Answer: Hi there! Yes, there are 500 Preset patterns built-in which cover many different styles of music - including Jazz, Latin, Bossa, etc.
Question: Does this device has microphone inputs, or does it use wireless microphone and it have a provision to slot in any disk for recording
Answer: 2004 technology. No wireless.
Question: How well would the drum sounds do for lofi grunge / fuzz / garage rock? If not, is there a way to load your own sounds from WAV files
Answer: I think there are enough available drums on the unit to get what you need. The unit cannot load new wav samples per user, but it can trigger outboard samplers if needed. I have done several songs where I've written the parts on this unit and have uploaded the midi and retriggered a few sounds in my DAW with different samplers - EZDrummer, Studio One's built-in sampler and Impact matrix style drum machine. I've also used this with Cubase and NI Battery to trigger samples. Overall, I think the unit is robust enough to cater to styles specified. You can layer hits (trigger two snares on top of each other for example) to get a fuller sound if needed.

User questions & answers

Question: Are there any 2/4 Country presets and rockabilly presets
Answer: There are no presets in this machine that are country or rockabilly. The instruction manual for this machine is available free on the internet. The sounds on this machine are very nice. This model is often available used on www.guitarcenter.com for around $50 plus shipping. There are also many drum machines that you can download onto your smartphone. There are also drum machines that you can install in your PC or MAC. The user interface on this machine is outdated, but the cymbal sounds in particular may be worth the cost of the machine itself. To learn how to program your own beats into this machine you will have to spend some time with the manual. If you don't need to run your drum machine on batteries, the Boss DR770 is a more professional choice. Finding a used Boss DR770 is going to take more patience but this is a better machine. Ed Friedland used a Boss DR770 on many of his instructional tracks. I'm not familiar with programming the Boss DR770. The manual can be found for free online.
Question: Does this come with a power supply
Answer: I'm not sure. I bought mine used. I usually run mine on 6 duracell AA batteries. You might be able to order one used from guitarcenter.com or Amazon. You can find out the proper power supply model number by downloading the Boss DR 670 owners manual.

Product description

Korg Volca Beats Analog Drum Machine. Volca beats is an analog rhythm machine that provides carefully selected parameters that allow the user to create a diverse array of fat sounds that can be obtained. Analog Drum Machine with 16-step Sequencer. Six analog parts and four PCM parts, fully editable.

  • Electribe-style 16-step sequencer with eight memory patches
  • Sync In and Out allows clock sync of multiple instruments from the Volca series
  • Stutter for glitch or delay-like effects
  • MIDI In for note entry, plus external sync and control from your DAW
  • Play anywhere with the built-in speaker and optional battery power

User questions & answers

Question: How do I sync this up to Mac's Logic 7? All I have is a simple audio interface I'm really stooooopid when it comes tt comes to this sort of thing
Answer: Yes. It has one MIDI out port and a USB connection, so you can use it if you wish to control virtual instruments on your computer or a hardware synth (or multiple hardware synths if you daisy chain them or use a MIDI through box or MIDI Router). If you only wish to use it as a controller and not make use of its awesome analog synth capabilities you'd probably do better though getting a dedicated (w/o a built in synth) MIDI Controller at least cost-wise.
Question: Can you edit the amount of steps you use or is it always 16? Could I choose to only use 12 steps for a 3/4 feel
Answer: Hello, It only quantizes when you use the arpeggiater. If this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us (pixelproaudio on Amazon). We can help with support after the sale as well. We have it in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio
Question: I play mostly country which is pretty simple, nothing real fancy. Will this work for that
Answer: If you are trying to record the audio, you need an audio interface with 1/4 inputs (same size as the output on your keyboard). MIDI alone can't be used to send or receive sound to and from the keyboard. You can use MIDI to sync your keyboard to the clock (BPMs) of ableton. Or, you can use midi to send electronic signals from tour keyboard to different instruments in ableton, like the MIDI sampler, but the sounds that you hear will be from the ableton instrument, not your keyboard. Finally, you can use the MIDI writing functions in ableton to send electronic signals to your keyboard, but in order for you to record the sound, you'll still need a 1/4 out going into an audio interface, so that ableton can hear it.
Question: so can you only store 8 patterns on this drum machine? and if so is the memory expandable
Answer: I've used it with my timeline, no problem.

Korg Volca Beats Analog Rhythm Machine

The volca Beats delivers unforgettably classic sounds with six analogue and four PCM-based drum parts. Instant editing via the intuitive user interface allows users to cut/mix/slice loops on the fly to deliver a devastating analogue rhythm experience.

The six editable analogue parts offer one knob per function for easy editing, while the four PCM parts provide speed control for drastic changes in pitch. Volca Beats is equipped with a 16-step sequencer with eight memory patches and the Sync In and Out functions allow clock sync of multiple instruments from the volca Series as well as Korg's Monotribe

The Electribe's step sequencer

This step sequencer is designed to make editing easy and to let you add or remove parts in an improvisational way. You can use the 16 step keys to intuitively enter notes while visually monitoring the timing of the notes within the measure. You can also play the touch panel keyboard to record in real time.

Maximum impact from minimal parameters

The volca beats provides a carefully selected minimal set of parameters that let you quickly create the drum sound you want.

PCM sound engine covers sounds for which analog is unsuited

The PCM sound engine is used to cover sounds for which an analog synth is unsuited, such as Clap, Claves, Agogo, and Crash. We've also paid attention to the PCM engine, and have reproduced the rough lo-fi sound of the '80s.

Compact size, battery-powered, and built-in speaker

With its compact size, battery operation, and built-in speaker, it's easy to take the volca anywhere, or plug in using a DC 9V power cord.

Korg Volca Beats

The volca beats provides six of the sounds for which the greatness of analog shines most clearly: Kick, Snare, Hi Tom, Lo Tom, Closed Hi Hat, and Open Hi Hat. Paying careful attention to the standard sounds that are indispensable for dance music and that are included on numerous synthesizers and sampling CDs, we've designed powerful new sounds that could not be produced by any means other than analog.

Korg Volca Keys

Volca keys is a 27-key analog lead synth that generates unbelievably powerful sound from its compact body. Starting with a filter section that uses the circuitry of the legendary miniKORG700S (1974), it delivers astonishing sound that takes full advantage of Korg's half-century of know-how in circuit design.

Korg Volca Bass

Aggressive sounds that stand up to the drums; fat sounds that support the rhythm; funky sounds that generate a groove - the volca bass is an analog bassline groove box that has what you need for a wide range of bass lines.

Korg Volca Sample

The volca sample is a sample sequencer that lets you edit and sequence up to 100 sample sounds in real time for powerful live performances. It’s a powerful addition to any existing volca setup, or simply on its own. The new volca lets you recapture the excitement of the first generation of samplers, in which any sound --- vocals, spoken words, ambient sound, or glitches --- becomes material for your creations!

User questions & answers

Question: Does it save the loop when powered off? Previous question had conflicting answers
Answer: To be completely frank, I despise this pedal. I don't know how it has gotten so many positive reviews. But to answer your question, sometimes it saves them (when you're trying to get red of them, which is most of the time) and sometimes not. Sometimes, powering it off (completeing disconnecting it) is what I had to resort to get rid of a loop. It sometimes worked on the first try and sometimes the loop was still there. The loop function is not intuitive and does not work as well as many cheaper loop pedals. Of course, they don't include the even more horrendous feature of this pedal. The drum machine. The drum machine beats are worthless and almost all sound horrible. None sound "good" or at least of an acceptable quality or skill level to be of any real use (particularly at a gig). I would compare the sound and beats to the cheapest lowest quality children's drum kit thrown into a large metal trash can and rolled down a flight of stairs and recorded through an 80's gated reverb effect. I've been a professional, gigging musician for a long time and this is by far the most disappointing and useless piece of gear I think I've ever purchased although it has given some friends of my mine a few laughs at literally my expense.
Question: Can the drum signal be sent to a separate amp than the guitar signal
Answer: Yes , lf you use effects the drum machine sounds weird I run mine to a Roland acoustic amp and play out of my rig
Question: Can the loops be saved
Answer: Yes, the loops can be saved.
Question: Does it come with power supply cord
Answer: No, it doesn't. Please use 9V 300mmA power supply adapter.
