Product description
Evans improved EC2 drumheads contain Evans' exclusive and patented Sound Shaping Technology (SST). Sound Shaping Technology allows the drumheads to be fully optimized for each individual size by varying the thickness and density of the damping material, ensuring greatly improved performance and tone across the entire kit. Unlike other heads that lack SST, Evans EC2s contain the ability to balance attack and tone for each size. The result is a drumhead series fine-tuned for attack, tone, length of sustain, and ease of tuning. Packed with a more balanced and pre-EQ'd sound across the full kit, the Evans EC2 with SST will make your toms sound better than you ever thought possible.
From the Manufacturer
Evans Rock Tom Pack (10", 12", 16") clear EC2 two-ply drum heads with Edge Control technology provide a pre-EQ sound via a damping technique that insures optimized performance for each individually sized drum head.
Evans EC2 series features two plies of 7mil film with optimized attack, tone, length of sustain and ease of tuning for each size head. The Sound Shaping Technology (SST) Edge Control ring mounted on the underside delivers an extremely well balanced and pre-EQ'd sound across the full kit by varying the size of the ring for each different head size.

User questions & answers
Question: | What's the difference between the clear and coated versions?i have g1 resonant heads, will these sound good combined? looking for that hard rock/metal |
Answer: | These aren't what you'd traditionally call "coated"..they're frosted, a thinner type of coating, making them translucent, but not 100% clear. More attack but less tone. I play rock/hard rock also, and use the clear ec2's with g1 clear reso's. |
Question: | Does it come with a set for the bottom of the drum |
Answer: | It does not come with them per say, but Evans does make resonant heads in that line. But you must buy those separately. |
Question: | is this the level |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | Could I tune these to sound like the Toms from the openening of chop suey! By System of a Down, if I add some dampening / would I need dampening |
Answer: | Yes you could. These heads are meant for metal! Lots of punch, and durable asf! Dampening prolly on the floor tom if your by yourself. But in a band, I wouldn’t dampen anything but the bass drum. 🤘🏻 |

Product description
Whether you play rock, blues, country or metal, the Evans EMAD System Pack is for you. Named for the externally mounted adjustable damping (EMAD), the versatile system caters to all bass drum tones by allowing each player to control the attack and focus of the drum head by choosing one of two removable foam damping rings. Choosing the thinner foam ring allows for punch and focus without sacrificing resonance, while choosing the wider foam ring maximizes the low end and attack of any bass drum. A consumer favorite, the EMAD system value pack is an economical way to get both a front and back drumhead. It includes one 22” EMAD batter bass drumhead featuring a single ply of 10mil film providing an ideal balance of punch, power and low-end. Plus, one 22” REMAD resonant drumhead featuring an offset 4" microphone port in a single ply of 10mil film. A black, noise-free plastic sleeve on the resonant drumhead holds a foam dampening ring around the edge of the microphone port which controls overtones, enhancing pitch focus and attack. Enhanced with revolutionary Level 360 technology, the bass drumheads are easier to tune, with a wider tonal range than ever before. Applying the new Level 360 collar shape to the EMAD bass drumheads provides heads that are easier to tune and a wider tonal range for a sound that is studio ready. User questions & answers
Question: | what is the size of the hole |
Answer: | I'm not sure but I can just slide my beta sm 91 in there. Shure mic |
Question: | Is evans emad system pack, 22 inch comes in 2 pcs (front & back |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does it come with the hardware needed to attach to the base drum |
Answer: | It comes with a batter head and a ported front head but hardware. You would use the lugs and claws that are on your bass drum if you have them. |
Question: | I have a tension watch for my drum heads what should I tune this head to to play heavy metal |
Answer: | Loosen all the lugs first , then finger tighten all the lugs , push down on the rim with both hands and body weight in 4 different points , then finger tighten the lugs again . Once that is done 1/4 turn all the lugs than 1/4 turn all the lugs again . That what I do . If your personal preference is tighter than that use 1/4 turns only so you don't have the rim and the head seat uneven . If their is to much boom tighten the front head 1/4 turns and try it until the boom is gone or as close to gone as you can get it . I also have a pillow in it to soak up the sound . Hope this helps you . |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this an aunthentic evans product |
Answer: | I've never heard of that but this is essentially the same as Silexan. You can google it's scientific backed studies. |
Question: | How does this compare to a coated g2 for snare |
Answer: | There are often trace amounts of lead in the soil that the flowers are grown in, which leads to the flowers absorbing some of that lead or some of the soil ending up in the distiller, which leads to a small fraction of that trace amount ending up in the lavender oil used to make this product. The amount of lead in it is nowhere near enough to harm you. |
Question: | dose evans make a 18 inch floor tom tone muffler |
Answer: | These are exactly the same. This company is the retail version of the company that makes Lavela. |
Question: | Is this for a Tom head |
Answer: | I read a journal study that found that 2 grams of lavandula angustifolia flowers have the same anti-anxiety effects as a half mg of lorazepam(Ativan) |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the range and increment of torque adjustment |
Answer: | Hello. These are new, genuine Evans heads, when purchased from Y2PLAY Stores. Thank you for your interest! Y2PLAY Stores - 800-695-4808. |
Question: | I have a pearl Marching bass drum. Will this work |
Answer: | The head is slightly thinner (one 10mil layer vs. two 7mil layers) but more durable, has a brighter tone, and the coating is more even. I would highly recommend this as a snare head. I find it the best head for jazz (VERY responsive to brushes and the coating doesn't scratch off easily at all) compared to all the others I've used over the past 13 years, but can be used for all drumming styles (wide tuning range). I have had this head for a month and it shows practically no wear, even though I teach drum lessons, play in a couple jazz bands, and gig. I would use the UV1 over the G2. |
Question: | What is the size/shape of the socket? Is it 1/4" hex |
Answer: | At this time, Evans only offers a Tone Ring in an 18" configuration, not a muffler. Remo makes a 18" insert-able muffle ring however that you could explore. Thanks for you interest. Y2PLAY Stores 1-800-695-4808 |
Question: | does this fit a Banjo |
Answer: | There should be a size of 14 in. If not 14 it’s for a Tom. I was asked to answer this question based on my buying one. What I bought was a 14 inch snare head and best sounding head I have had. |
