| Answer: | After tuning the instrument using the lead pipe or main tuning slide, there are still certain notes that are inherently out of tune, same as with a trumpet. To fine tune these notes as you play, you use the 3rd valve trigger. You can experiment with a tuner to see the effect of using the trigger. Once the instrument is in tune with no valves pressed, play a low D ( 1st and 3rd) with and without using the trigger. Hope that helps. |

| Answer: | 7c Which is a standard size for any student trumpet. I was used to using an 11c for an older strumpet that I bought ages ago. In that day the 11 c was standard. But, I do find the 7c has better range. The 11c seemed to be best for lower tones and not so easy for higher tones as I got better. I think the 7c is a better size. |
