| Answer: | Cutting Bass strings seems to be a highly discussed topic, but it is not rocket science, it is actually common sense. Since Bass strings have a solid core and a wrap wire, urban legend says that by cutting the strings, the inner core will somehow detach from the wrap. Yes, you should cut the strings, and here is how is done: Thread the string through the bridge and bring it up to your headstock with no slack, hold the string against the tuning post that corresponds to that string. From that post, measure two tuning posts further away and bend the string about 90 degrees on that point. Then, cut the string half an inch beyond that bend (not too close to the bend), make sure to use a cutter able to easily snap clean that string in one go. By doing so, you will not have too many or too few windings around the tuning post (and no, your string’s inner core will not detach). |

| Answer: | If the holes for the tuning machines are in fact only .095, I would stick to short scale strings, since the longer E string will not thread through the tuner properly. I just looked up the specs to the Fender Mustang PJ bass on the Fender website, and it is in fact a 30" scale, so these (ECB81S) would be the most compatible strings. |

| Answer: | Short answer: No. Flatwounds provide a warmer, more mellow sound. For slap, you typically want a brighter sound, which roundwounds would provide. |

| Answer: | My bass is a 30" short scale (SX Jazz imitation) and the cloth/string wrap at the ends of the strings varies from 3/4" to 1" above the nut. If your scale is less then 30" you might have to peel some cloth string covering back. |

| Answer: | I believe thy will fit. From the bridge end of the strings to the tuner end Blue windings, they are about 32.3 inches. So if your "end of string to nut" is 32 inches, they should be about right. They sound nice and have virtually no finger zip noise. |

| Answer: | Yes. Any brand of bass strings that say "Long Scale" will fit a standard 34" Fender Jazz or Precision Bass. Do NOT get medium or Short scale. Extra or Super Long are for basses that have the string-through-body option such as a Lakland. I hope that helps |

| Answer: | Probably not. If there is a sharp angle where the strings thread into the body then these (and many flats) won't work without damaging the string. I could be wrong but without seeing your bass I'm guessing most string-thru's aren't going to allow these flats. |
