The Dean X Series

The Dean X Series offers ML, V and Z style guitars at a price that won't break the bank. These guitars feature maple necks, rosewood fretboards, dual humbuckers, and plenty of Dean mojo, and are built to rock--perfect for beginners and veterans alike.

Basswood Body

The VX features a lightweight basswood body. Basswood is great for heavier rock and metal styles, delivering a nice even tone that feeds a dirt pedal (or a dimed Marshall) nicely.

Bolt-On Construction

Bolt-on neck construction provides an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it.

The VX's maple neck features an ultra-playable 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.

Dean Humbucker Pickups

To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white "zebra" style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover Tuners

If you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service.

Tune-o-Matic Bridge

The Tune-o-Matic bridge with string-thru body design provides serious sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped plate mirrors the headstock wings for some nice vintage Dean style.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with a soft carrying case
Answer: Mine did not come with a case. I am currently using a base guitar case to take it out. It does not fit in my other electric guitar case.
Question: How long does this take to ship if I ordered with prime
Answer: Typical Prime Shipping.
Question: Is this guitar suitable for anything but metal, as-is? I like goth, shoegaze, and some sludge metal
Answer: Baritone guitar was originally designed for country music and surf music. It just added more depth to the sound having mastered octaves within the group. Think if a baritone guitar this way; it’s basically playing a seven string without the seventh string. Same basic tuning and range. It just has a longer scale allowing for it to tune to B standard instead of E standard. To me it sounds gorgeous clean and even better distorted. It’s PERFECT for sludge and shoe gaze. In fact most recordings you hear where the band is tuned lower it was most likely a baritone guitar used to make that recording. If you try to tune to the B or Dropped A race on a standard 24.75-25.5” scale guitar you’re going to have to use crazy heavy strings so it doesn’t sound flubby and then you’ll most likely run into intonation problems as well as having to slit the nut for tuning stability. A baritone guitar (26.5” scale and above ) is ALWAYS preferable to down tuning a standard guitar just because the sound and stability are far far superior
Question: baritone guitar"??? I have been playing for over 40 years and never heard of a baratone guitar. What does baratone imply
Answer: Baritone guitar was created in the 1950’s for country and surf music. Actually I believe the Fender bass VI came first and then was basically converted to a baritone guitar. Baritone guitar is a longer scale guitar beginning at 26.5” and your standard range to truly be a baritone is generally 27.7”. The longer scale allows for more string tension and is generally tuned in B standard. When it was created it was just to give a layered octave within the total band mix for more depth. Baritone guitar actually sounds extremely gorgeous both clean and dirty. Generally when you down tune below drop C on a standard guitar you have to exponentially go up on your string gauges to eliminate flubby tone and string tension. Then you have to slot the nut to accommodate the larger string gauge but you generally still have intonation issues because of the shorter scale on a standard guitar. So in essence a baritone guitar is a 7 string guitar without the 7th string. It’s the same low B tuning with superior playability, tone, and stability. It’s the unholy union of bass and guitar to create the Mecca of tuning low. When I say tuning low though don’t let it fool you. The sound is gorgeous and full. Nearly any and every recording you’ve ever heard with a lower tuned guitar was most likely made using a baritone guitar. It’s a must own for any studio

User questions & answers

Question: Does this guitar need set up (other than tuning) out of the box
Answer: I bought mine from amazon warehouse so it had been previously sold and returned. Didn't play well out of the box and had lots of fret buzz so it could be that it got out of whack after being shipped four times....plus the shipping box was damaged so much so that the delivery guy thought I should refuse it. Make no mistake this is a budget guitar, but I think the quality is very good. A lot of people modify them with upgraded pickups and electronics, but I think it sounds just fine as it is after getting the setup right. Downloaded the adjustment instructions from Fender website and bought a new set of strings for $7 and a string action ruler for $8 and checked and readjusted where needed. Took a little time, but it plays nice now with no fret buzz anywhere on the neck.
Question: Is this a mini
Answer: No it's a full size guitar
Question: Does it have a floating trem
Answer: No. Its a standard trem.
Question: Does it contain any accessories along with it, like cable, strap or a bag
Answer: No extras from amazon. But, you would be buying one of the best low cost electric guitars. The money you save you can afford to buy a strap & cable to go with it! The bullet is a great playing guitar, usually right out of the box. If your new to setup, have it looked at and setup correctly by your local luthier!

User questions & answers

Question: Does this guitar come with tools to setup the bridge and trust rod? Like an Allen wrench and such
Answer: Mine came with allen wrenches for both the truss rod and the bridge. Note also that even if they weren't in there, the wrenches are standard metric sizes (though you'd probably have to mail order the smaller one--your local home depot probably won't have anything that small). The setup on mine when it arrived, though, was good enough that I left it untouched (and I do know what a good setup entails, having built a few instruments). I was kind of amazed, honestly, by how well it was set. Might just be chance, but it was dead on (both neck and bridge).
Question: Is any adjustments necessary on truss rod, mine came with fret buzz but i adjusted bridge and buzz is gone but now have 5mm string/fret dist 12th fret
Answer: Just do a level and crown on it and the frets will be fine. Be careful though, the frets are probably as soft as butter. The Chinese are stingy with their metals.
Question: is this a full size telecaster
Answer: No..although the bridge is set up for fenders 25.5 scale length the body is noticeably smaller
Question: I know this is a budget very cheap guitar but i want something single coil, cheap, and ready to play without major work, will this guitar provide
Answer: I absolutely love this guitar. I took it out of the box and tuned it, from there no further work was required. It sounds fantastic and stays in tune.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this an adult size guitar? is it light
Answer: The package says that it has a Yamaha PAC012, which I bought recently for my 10 year old daughter who is a new player. It is a full sized guitar, but not too big for a young player to start with. It is also not too heavy and its comfortable to hold. It has been a very good starter guitar for her. We bought only the guitar, not the package. Here is the guitar listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002GZWZ0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Question: Does the back of the guitar also have sunburst? Or is it flat black
Answer: The back also has sunburst. It's an exceptionally well-crafted, beautifully finished guitar.
Question: Can you use this guitar to play music like centuries from fall out boys all the way to more than a feeling from boston
Answer: It will do anything a Fender Stratocaster will do. More Than A Feeling used a heavily processed guitar sound, as I recall. I don't know if this type of guitar will nail that sound, but you can probably come close. The issue is going to be the effects you add. I don't know the Fall Out Boys music so I have no comment about that.
Question: Where do put the battery in the guitar
Answer: There's no battery.
