User questions & answers

Question: Does this guitar have a pickup built in
Answer: No built in pickup on this model.
Question: what is the country of origin
Answer: China
Question: What does it mean by jumbo? Is it wider than a normal guitar
Answer: The term 'Jumbo' usually refers to a particular guitar body style. This Epiphone FT-100 guitar would be considered to have a 'dreadnaught' body style. I have no idea why it's listed as 'Jumbo'. Jumbo style guitars have a bigger, slightly deeper body compared to dreadnaughts, with a bit narrower waist and, due to these characteristics, are a bit louder, and with more bass.
Question: Can anybody explain me why the bridge is not parallel to the nut. imho that can never be tuned right
Answer: This is a very basic explanation. On most acoustic guitars (in fact, none that I'm aware of), individual string intonation cannot be adjusted. Intonation is the accuracy of the fretted tones along the length of the fingerboard. If the bridge were positioned parallel to the nut, one string's intonation would be correct (hopefully) and the remaining strings would fret slightly sharp or flat, and getting progressively worse as you fret higher up the neck. Hope this helps.

  • Effortless Fretting - Epiphone JumboPRO frets make fretting notes and chords seem effortless. JumboPRO frets are taller and wider than smaller frets. So, when you push down a string, it’s easier to make string contact with the fret with less hand fatigue and finger friction.
  • Make friction fiction - String and fingerboard friction not only slows your playing but also can hurt. Our PRO-Ease string and fingerboard coating provides sleek, smooth action with reduced string noise.
  • No pain, no gain? - Nonsense—Epiphone believes in “no pain.” Lighter gauge strings are easier to play so every PRO-1 is set-up and equipped with Epiphone Ultra-Light strings.

User questions & answers

Question: What's the diference about this one and the $259 Epiphone
Answer: Probably the size and quality of the amp. Double check, but I think the $259 version has a 15 watt amp.
Question: Will this work with the rocksmith 2014 cable
Answer: Yes, works perfectly.
Question: does come with the big box like in the photo
Answer: Yes, it all comes in the big box in the photo
Question: Is the guitar in this package the same as "Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul Electric Guitar" which retails for $169 right here on amazon
Answer: Yes, and this is a very good deal here, but currently there is an even better one somewhere else. I'm sure this won't last forever since the membership stores change inventory frequently, but currently one of the big box membership stores has this bundle for $199.99 with free shipping, but almost shockingly, it includes over 50 dollars worth of additional items including a 9 dollar set of extra strings, a 13 dollar guitar stand, a 6 dollar chord finder book, and a 25 dollar set of headphones with 3.5 and 6.5 mm plug adapter.

User questions & answers

Question: Would this Guitar be appropriate for an 11 year old child
Answer: anyone who’s looking at this in the future,, no it’s not appropriate for 11 year olds. i got this for a 14 year old who is 5’4 (165cm) and it’s too big for her. it might be good for someone who’s 5’6 (170cm) or taller
Question: is this guitar a 3/4 size guitar
Answer: No. It's a full sized dreadnought. Great sound - great price.
Question: Is this a laminated or solid spruce top? What does "Select" spruce mean? Is it just an advertising term intended to mislead, or is it special
Answer: it is laminated spruce. you can't get a solid spruce top for 100 bucks. the "select" is nothing special and it is just advertising. but for the price the guitar is one of the best. PS: how to distinguish between solid and laminated: look for the wood pattern on the edge of the hole. if it extends into the hole then it's probably solid.
Question: Does this have electric pickups built in? (could you plug it into an amp
Answer: No I cannot it was not acoustic electric. But I left the guitar overseas and bought a new one. Sorry to all who I could not reply to in a timely manner.

User questions & answers

Question: do the strings have to be steel or does bronze also work
Answer: Acoustic strings are bronze. But the high E and B strings are always steel even in an acoustic set.Electric strings (which is what you probably mean by "steel") will work but they will have a different feel that a set of acoustic strings, especially if you go with a set lighter than "10's."In my experience using a set of .009 electric strings on an acoustic the strings feel too "rubbery" and never quite ring out the way they should. I have not played an acoustic that had electric strings heavier than a set of .009's but perhaps a set of .010's would be less "rubbery" feeling. The best thing to do is try different string guages for both electric (steel) strings and acoustic (bronze) strings and see which you like best.
Question: Is this a left handed guitar
Answer: No, this is not a left-handed guitar.
Question: Is this a good guitar for a beginer that just started to learn how to play
Answer: Hey Callie, the Epiphone DR-100 is great for a beginner or an accomplished player. I highly recommend this guitar's great sound quality and it holds a tune for ever. Good luck and enjoy. Walter Miller
Question: Does this guitar have 2 buttons for a strap? Also, what strings here on amazon would you recommend buying as back-up if one breaks
Answer: Yes it has 2 strap buttons. I just got my Epiphone DR-100 about a week ago. I got it in Black. Absolutely beautiful guitar, well made, fun to play and warm sound even with the factory installed strings. I like play a lot of Beatles songs and I use Rotosound strings on my electric guitars so when it's time to change strings on this guitar I plan to use Rotosound SB10 Super Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (10 14 20 28 40 50) which you can get here on Amazon. Good Luck and I definitely recommend the DR-100.

User questions & answers

Question: which strings sound best on this ? 12's or lighter
Answer: Comes strung with 12-53 new, as much for player comfort as sound. Any quality string will sound good, 12s are fine.
Question: does it come in diffrernt colors
Answer: I've seen a "Limited Edition" Hummingbird Pro in Ebony color. It might be available (again?) in April 2017, from certain vendors.
Question: Beginner here...What's the difference in the hummingbird and Dove? Pros and cons
Answer: The reviewer is forgetting one important observation. The sides and backs on all Epiphone Hummingbird pros are laminated. Doves the same way. The talk about Maple vs Mahogany having a cool tone or warmer tone is hogwash. Because the back and sides are laminated there is virtually no difference between the Hummingbird and the Dove guitars put out by Epiphone. Just wanted to set the record straight Seeing as though both guitars have solid spruce tops that does make a difference. I have had my pro for over three years and the top has really opened up on that guitar.
Question: Is the neck of this guitar the same dimensions as the Hummingbird? Is it as good as the Hummingbird
Answer: Also, the Hummingbird is 24.75" scale length, the Dove is 25.5".

User questions & answers

Question: Is this a good sized guitar for an 8 year old boy
Answer: This guitar is a full size guitar which may be difficult for an 8 year old boy. However, to learn on a full size is the way I learned as I taught myself. The harder it may be in the beginning, with persistence and love of music, the better the quality of music the boy will produce. Whatever guitar you get him make sure to get a set of new strings as the boy must learn to string the guitar and tune it as well. This first step I took myself, also notes can be learned and take a long time, so to keep him going start with tablature.
