10 best stereo mixer with effects
A stereo mixer with effects is a piece of audio equipment used primarily in music production, DJing, and live sound reinforcement. It combines audio signals from various sources, such as microphones, instruments, or playback devices, into a single stereo output while providing the capability to apply audio effects and manipulate the sound in real-time. Here are some key points related to stereo mixers with effects:
Signal Mixing: The primary function of a stereo mixer is to combine and balance audio signals from different sources. This allows for control over the levels and panning (left-right positioning) of each input source.
Stereo Output: A stereo mixer typically provides a stereo output, meaning it delivers a two-channel audio signal. This is common for music playback and DJ applications.
Input Channels: Stereo mixers come with multiple input channels, ranging from a few to dozens, depending on the model. Each channel typically has its own set of controls for adjusting volume, tone, and effects.
Effects Processing: One of the distinguishing features of a stereo mixer with effects is the ability to apply audio effects, such as reverb, delay, chorus, EQ, and more, to individual channels or the overall mix. This allows for creative sound manipulation and enhancement.
Built-in Effects: Some mixers come with built-in effects processors, while others may require external effects units to be connected. Built-in effects simplify the setup and save space.
EQ (Equalization): Most stereo mixers feature EQ controls that allow you to adjust the frequency response of each input channel. This can help shape the sound and remove unwanted frequencies.
Auxiliary Sends: Mixers often have auxiliary sends (aux sends) that allow you to send a copy of the audio signal to external effects processors or monitor speakers.
Faders: Faders are sliding controls used to adjust the volume levels of each channel. They are a fundamental part of the mixing process.
Solo and Mute Buttons: These buttons allow you to isolate or silence individual channels for fine-tuning and troubleshooting during a live performance or recording session.
Monitoring: Many mixers have headphone outputs and dedicated monitoring options, allowing you to listen to the mix independently of the main output.
Connectivity: Stereo mixers come with various input and output options, including XLR, 1/4-inch, and RCA connectors, to accommodate different audio sources and devices.
Size and Portability: Mixers come in various sizes, from compact models suitable for home studios to larger, more complex units for professional use.
Digital vs. Analog: Some mixers are analog, while others are digital. Digital mixers often offer more advanced effects and processing capabilities.
When selecting a stereo mixer with effects, consider your specific needs, whether you're a DJ, musician, sound engineer, or home studio enthusiast. The choice will depend on the number of input sources, the complexity of your mixing requirements, and the type of audio effects you desire.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i connect mg06x-6 to tv |
Answer: | here's one: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Hosa/Stereo-1-4-Inch-Male-TRS-to-Dual-Male-RCA-Insert-Cable.gc |
Question: | Can i connect its out to irig pre (phone-audio interface) which ultimately connected to phones for recording over iphone/ipads |
Answer: | This mixer with its quality mic preamps (real ones, with plenty of adjustable gain) , EQ, channel output volume, etc. is far superior to the iRig Pre. I tried the iRig Pre (and reviewed it) and didn't like it. To emulate the iRig Pre connections, get a TRRS (male) adapter you plug into your phone/tablet that breaks out separate speaker 1/8" TRS (female) and mic 1/8" TRS (female) connectors. You could use either the XLR or the 1/4" outputs of the mixer as input to the mic 1 /8" TRS connector on the adapter. Unlike the iRig Pre, with a mixer like this you have the option of listening to the realtime output of the mixer from its headphone jack or plug your headphones into the speaker 1/8" (female) connector on the adapter to hear it how the phone/ tablet is recording it (which can be time-delayed making it difficult to speak live while listening to non-realtime audio). |
Question: | Are the 1/4 inch outputs TRS for balanced signal to another TRS input? I'm planning on using this as a simple mixer for input to a Bose L1 Compact |
Answer: | The outputs are Stereo outputs, both L and R. (shown on the blue areas of image) |
Question: | Can headphones and stereo out be be controlled independently? I want to listen to either headphones OR speakers, not both at once |
Answer: | On the MG10XU there are two volumes controls. Stereo out and Monitor/Headphones out. I can't tell if this has both knobs or not. You can check the manual for the technical diagram. |

Yamaha MG Series Mixers
For more than a century, Yamaha has been building a legacy of superior craftsmanship and innovation exemplified in all of our products, from an unrivaled catalog of world-class musical instruments to touring-grade professional audio. Now in its third incarnation, the MG Series embodies this pursuit of design excellence, and incorporates some of the same technologies developed for use in high-end professional consoles, including studio-quality preamps, powerful digital processing, and a rugged, reliable construction.
With an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, the MG Series boasts an extensive lineup of compact mixing consoles with models ranging from six to twenty channels, suitable for a diverse range of users and applications. For installed, recording, or live music settings, the solid construction and flexible design of these consoles lets you shape your sound with confidence, continually delivering a level of sound quality and reliability unrivaled in its class.
D-PRE (Discrete Class-A Mic Preamps)
This is where it all starts. Everything you do as a sound engineer is dependent on the quality of your preamps, which determines the direction your mix will take, and ultimately how good it is going to sound. MG Series mixing consoles feature Yamaha's studio-grade discrete class-A D-PRE preamps, which utilize an inverted Darlington circuit comprising two cascading transistors in a configuration that provides more power with lower impedance.
EQ and High-pass Filters
There's nothing more useful than reliable equalization when you need nuanced management of your tone. The MG Series benefits from Yamaha's unparalleled experience in designing pro audio gear, featuring 3-band equalizers on all mono channels for precise control of your sound. High-pass filter allows you to eliminate unwanted low-frequency noise, for a smoother, cleaner mix.
1-Knob Compressors
Compression plays an essential role in just about any recording or sound reinforcement environment by altering the level of dynamics of an audio signal when you need livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare, or a cleaner vocal sound. However, it can take countless hours to master the complexities of even the most basic outboard compression units and use them effectively.
Built-in SPX Digital Effects (MG06X)
For musical and non-musical applications, effects processing adds polish and professionalism to the mix. The MG06X features Yamaha's SPX digital multi-effect processor, offering a comprehensive suite of editable digital effects perfect for enhancing your mix, whether adding depth to a speaking engagement or breathing new color and atmosphere into a live performance.
High Quality Sound Op-amp
The head amp determines sound quality, and op-amp integrated circuits are one of the most important parts in the head amp circuit. MG Series mixers feature new, high-quality, custommade MG01 op-amps that we developed in cooperation with the semiconductor manufacturer. We worked directly with the semiconductor manufacturer to focus on sound quality first.

User questions & answers
Question: | How do i eq from rca inputs? rca inputs/outputs doesn't have eq settings like the other channels have |
Answer: | ALTO support here! The RCA aux inputs don't have the option of EQing. If you prefer EQing the audio, I would recommend using a cable that has 2 1/4" connections so you can plug your audio source to channel 5/6. This will allow you to play your stereo signal through a channel on the mixer with EQ options. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call or email us using the contact information on altoproaudio.com/contact. |
Question: | How to remove aux/Channel 2/3 or 4/5 audio input from main mix out but leave mic 'phone monitoring and output enabled |
Answer: | I have a different Model of Mixer but I'll try although I'm not clear about the meaning of your question. The Mic Channel (1) and Line Input Channels (2/3 and 4/5) are always assigned to the Main Output and the Headphones. The AUX Inputs (L and R Phonos) can be sent to the Headphones and The Main Mix with the switches above the Headphone Volume Control. Since I don't know what result you're trying to achieve, this may not be the reply you want, sorry. |
Question: | can i connect passive speakers to this mixer? would it work as speaker amp |
Answer: | The ZMX52 5-channel will not work as a speaker amp. Nor can you connect passive speakers to this mixer . |
Question: | I have separate dj & karaoke setups & need a sound mixer (fx) exclusively for my karaoke player & mic's to powered speakers. is this a best option |
Answer: | I have used this mixer for that exact application & it works great. I suggest taking the music into a pair of the channels that could be used for mics. I prefer this because you get the three levels of EQ when you do that. These controls work very well. |

User questions & answers
Question: | There are three holes underneath profxj10v3. are they for mounting |
Answer: | Yes, there is an optional adapter you can get to mount it atop a mic stand for easy live access. |
Question: | Would like to get this mixer but some people say in reviews there are major issues with Windows 10; can a Mackie specialist please clarify |
Answer: | I’m not a specialist but I just downloaded the drivers from their website and it works perfectly for me. |
Question: | It says 2x4 usb i/o. does that mean i can get 4 channels into my daw simultaneously |
Answer: | Hello, 2x4 means that you have a stereo send to the computer and two stereo returns from your computer. The stereo output (1-2) to your computer can be used for recording, VOIP, etc, and you can return two distinct stereo tracks (1-2, 3-4) from your Mac/PC giving you the ability to route audio from different applications (DAW, Spotify, Youtube, etc) or sources (.mp3/WAV playback) from within your computer. |
Question: | I see that the mackie profx12v3 has a 48v phantom power switch. can non-phantom and phantom mikes be used at the same time? one be on, others off |
Answer: | Yes. Condenser microphones often require 48V phantom power. When the 48V phantom power switch is engaged on ProFX series mixers all channels have this extra voltage available. With phantom power, the voltage is effectively invisible to balanced microphones that do not use it, which includes most dynamic microphones. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this mixer connect to speaker , subwoofer and dj controller together |
Answer: | I’m assuming you would go with your DJ controller into this unit, then you could send the out to the sub and PA speaker. You might also be able to run a separate aux out to the sub and just give it more when you need to. Personally I would get a mackie 802 before I buy this. |
Question: | can i hook this to my crown power amp |
Answer: | Yes, I hook mine up to 2 crown Amps. I run them bridged made use one for the left channel and one for the right channel. |
Question: | Can this be used for live performance with output to PA and monitor ( one vocal and acoustic guitar |
Answer: | Yes you can. You have stereo monitor outs (called Control Room) as well as main outs, and they have independent controls. The control room outs share the same level as the HEADPHONES out, though. You do have an extra AUX out that can serve as a different send to a monitor, but it is mono. |
Question: | Is there a USB output |
Answer: | No USB Output on this mixer. Thank you, Sam Ash Direct |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I add echo and reverb at to the mic |
Answer: | Hi. Any of the onboard effects will work with the with Mic channels. One effect at a time, though. |
Question: | Is this mixer capable of "mix minus" configuration? If so how is it done? I cant seem to get it to produce any audio from the "fx send" port |
Answer: | been trying to determine this for my own setup. thus far it seems No as the AUX is post fader. im trying to isolate the mic on the FX send and have it removed from the main mix.. nothing seems to allow this to happen. i can get the FX send to work but if the usb and the FX send are connected to the same source, both signals carry the mic audio... |
Question: | Can this do multitrack recording |
Answer: | This is a mixer and not any type of recording device. This operates on USB and does not have any recording capability built-in. This is used to record multiple sources at one time and make that into one Stereo/Mono audio output that can be used with a recording software, streaming software, or even a live speaker system. You can record the main output via computer, but even then, this will all be one audio stream, not one for each separate channel. |
Question: | who made it |
Answer: | Probably someone who works for Yamaha. |

Question: | Is this item same as one sold for $124 .00 and does this item have special effect as shown in side by compared item |
Answer: | When in doubt always go XLR, that’s the cleanest signal you can have and it’s grounded, hence the the clean, noise free signal! There are cases where you’ll be running TRS 1/4’ phone jacks that are balanced but you’ll need the 1/4’ with the TRS - Tip, Ring, Sleeve. Basically if you’re not grounded or using cables that are grounded, then you’re completely unbalanced and risking noise and feedback! |
Question: | does it come with a power supply to wall |
Answer: | Yes, it can be used with wireless mics. |
Question: | Does it come with xlr cables? thanks |
Answer: | This is package comes with cable as well |
Question: | its 110 t0 240 volts |
Answer: | William is right, it shows as a 2x2 interface. What goes into the 2 channel digital input is controlled by a switch in the middle of the mixer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used together |
Answer: | It is a 3 pin connection without question. It is a very good mic. |
Question: | Is this mixer compatible with xp1000 speakers |
Answer: | It does, but the microphone does not fit into the mic mount at all. |
Question: | Does the mute button on each channel give you a pop or click when recording |
Answer: | Sorry to say that it does not come with a cable you can plug directly into your computer. But you can get a XLR(female) to 3.5 mm cable. Bad sound quality though! I would suggest buying a nice USB microphone, or USB audio interface you can can plug any mic in,whether it be condenser, dynamic, or ribbon. Which is most audio interfaces? Connect audio interface to computers' USB slot and then connect XM8500 to the audio interface mic input. Hope this helped! |
Question: | I have separate dj & karaoke setups & need a sound mixer (fx) exclusively for my karaoke player & mic's to powered speakers. is this a best option |
Answer: | I don't see a cable! Male XLR will fit it! |
