The case that came with it has holes and isn’t good for soaking especially while he is at college. So I picked up a glass “Tupperware” with a snap on lid to prevent spills. I would definitely recommend trying this.

Question:	Do you need a preamp with the scratch2? i have some old technics sl-1200mk
Answer:	Ummm... Yes. But. This unit is a (very good) knock-off the Yamaha MG Series mixer. The Yamaha mixer uses the Yamaha-Steinberg audio driver to connect to a PC. Per an email from the manufacturer, this mixer supposedly uses the same Yamaha-Steinberg driver. I had absolutely no luck getting it to work. I had to use the asio4all audio driver to make it work, and I was never happy with how well it integrates with Studio One. Ultimately, I ended up buying an inexpensive audio interface, and put the interface between my PC and the mixer. Still happy with the mixer, though (see my review), for its quality controls as well as how closely the manufacturer matches features of the Yamaha MG Series. I'm comfortable using the mixer-audio interface-computer approach, but I would have loved to have a direct mixer-computer configuration. Hope this helps
