User questions & answers
Question: | How to fix wrong drum noises being played from the kit (e.g. Hit the snare and a symbol plays, The kick plays the snare |
Answer: | The brain module has programmed sets within it programming. IF you are using the programmed songs section you will get such changes in order to play a certain style. Another possibility is that cross over is happening when a pad is hit very hard. The vibration may trigger a pad close to it. For any other problems I suggest you visit Yamaha's website or simply type in "drum crossover problems" and see if anyone else is having the problem. |
Question: | can you expand the kit to have one more cymbal |
Answer: | Yes, you can add one more cymbal! |
Question: | Does it come with a kick pedal |
Answer: | Yes it does |
Question: | Silent? I live in an apartment; learning to play a drum or kit will require being very quiet |
Answer: | Don't sweat it. I live in a very small house. I can practice while my wife sleeps in the next room. The sound is no louder than using a practice pad, even quieter. Go for it! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this kick pad work with DTX 400 kit |
Answer: | If the DTX 400 has a 1/4" trigger input it will work |
Question: | Does anyone know if it is compatible with Roland TD modules? Thanks |
Answer: | I am quite sure that it will work. It has the same jack on the back to fit the pug on the TD4 or other TDs and there is one reviewer on the Amazon site that says that he has it hooked to a Roland. |
Question: | Will it keep moving if I don't screw it on the floor? I want my drum pad and bass to be movable and can be stowed away if I need extra space |
Answer: | Most acoustic bass pedals, from the least expensive to the most expensive USUALLY have some way to clamp onto the rim of a kick drum. This will look like a claw or clamp on the bottom of the bass pedal under the striker. Pedals with such a mechanism should latch on to this product. This target has two screw-pins that look like spring-loaded spikes on the far side (away from the player) so that if you have carpet, towel, or rug under your pedal area the screws can be lowered into that surface. This prevents it from moving much. This means that this is not permanently affixed to any floor or board. It should be able to be moved. |
Question: | Can this plug right into a PA channel or do you need some sort of controller |
Answer: | You can get a generic "thump" plugging straight in, but it's not very good. You'll need a controller to get any decent sounds. I picked up a used Yamaha DTXpress for $125. Well worth it. The variety of sounds is incredible, and you can add more triggers for other drum sounds. I wound up exchanging my KP65 for the silent pedal KU100. Very happy with it, but I'm a bass player, so I never knew a real bass drum pedal. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it work with Simmons drum |
Answer: | It uses a 1/4" Jack, so as long as the Simmons does I would say yes. It's pretty universal. |
Question: | How does this compare to the Roland FD |
Answer: | Not sure. I used this Pedal for a high end toy drum set and it's far better than the pedal that came with it. I can't compare it to my roland kit since I use a standard pearl double kick peddle with it. |
Question: | Does it need to be screwed in? Would that be fine to place it on carpet |
Answer: | It comes with some very large screws with pointed tips, that have a spring around it. I find that if I simply let the pointy end of the screw protrude through the bottom of the HH65 base, it stays on carpet and doesn't move around. If you wanted to, you could screw it into a piece of plywood for greater stability. I did that with the kick drum tower and controller, without any velcro on the bottom of the plywood, and it works great -- doesn't move around at all when on carpet. But i had to use my own wood screws as the ones it came with (the same ones as the HH65 comes with) wouldn't engage with the wood very deeply. Hope that helps. Bottom line, you should be OK on carpet with the screws at the front of the controller biting gently into the carpet you are on. At least, that has been my experience. Good luck -- and don't lose the cable the HH65 comes with!!! The music stores have no clue about the right kind of cable, and will give you all kinds of bum steers (in a well-meaning way) about what kind of cable you need. Yamaha wants $35.00 for a replacement cable. I have ordered one for $8.00 from ebay but I'm taking a chance on whether it will actually work. I intend to post the model number of the cable when it comes, if it works. I know it has to be a stereo cable, at a minimum. A keyboard pedal worked as a stop gap measure until I find the right replacement cable at a reasonable price. |
Question: | I got my HH65 today for my DD65 I push down on the peddle the tone responds as OPEN when the peddle has no pressure the tone is closed it's backwards |
Answer: | I have similar problem when my 6 year old Kid plays on it. It is simple. This problem of inverted functionality happens everytime the DD65 is turned off with the Hi-Hat pedal pressed. Then, next time when you turn it on the pedal does not respond properly. To solve it, just do it again : turn off the DD65 with the hi-hat pressed down. When you turn it on again it should work properly : when pressed down it sounds closed, not pressed it sounds opened and when pressed it performs the the dry beat alone. And try to remember not to turn the DD65 with the hi-hat pressed down. Well, I forget sometimes... good luck. |

The unit also comes with a MIDI OUT terminal, allowing you to send MIDI signals to connected MIDI devices. Up to 14 pads can be connected to the trigger input terminals that can be connected individually, making it simple to create a hybrid setup with acoustic drums by connecting only those cables you need.
An app that makes recording, editing and sharing easy
DTX-PRO is compatible with the iOS/Android App Rec’n’Share, allowing you to easily record or shoot a performance that is combined with audio data, then edit the recorded data, and share it on social media. Question: | Does the dtx700 support the hh80 hi-hat controler? manual says it supports hh65, but i can't find hh80 anywhere, not even on the compatibility chart |
Answer: | It should work, but the tracking probably won't be seamless. Call Yamaha Tech Support for a detailed answer. IMO, you should buy a HH65...they can be found inexpensively on Ebay. Yamaha Tech Support 714-522-9011 |
Question: | I have pads, and only need the drum module. Does this module come with the cables |
Answer: | No, this is only the module. Cables are sold separately. Thanks. |
Question: | Can I use homemade drum pads with this module |
Answer: | Single zone drum pads will work, but dual zone may not. Additionally, you might experience crosstalk if your sensors are not isolated properly. Yamaha has a pretty good system to eliminate crosstalk...threshold, sensitivity, etc. I have used a wide variety of Yamaha modules and they are more picky about drum pad compatibility than Roland, but you do get more for your money. Buy it where you can return it if it does not work out for you. |
Question: | I want to know if the dyx700 input voltage is 110-240v |
Answer: | The dx700 uses an external 12VDC power supply |
