Answer:	Yes, flutes are in the key of C. What Amazon is talking about is the actual G key (the button on the flute you press to play a G). This particular flute has an off-set G-key as opposed to being in-line with the rest of the keys.

Answer:	No, it's not considered a "handmade" flute, even though there is a lot of hand workmanship in making it. This is considered a "factory made" flute. "Handmade" flutes are 10X as expensive. The term handmade typically refers more to the level of the flute than to the actual manufacturing process though. Its not like this flute is made by robots on an assembly line like a car is, but it is also not made as slowly as a professional flute costing $10,000, of course. That being said, a really good intermediate flute like this gets 90% of the performance quality of a professional flute. I could play one at Carnegie Hall and no one would notice, though I'd probably perform a tiny bit better with my professional flute.

Answer:	The first thought that pops into my head is the Olds "Mendez" model (named for the great Mexican trumpet virtuoso -- He is still considered by many to be the greatest trumpeter who ever lived), if you can find one that's in playable condition and is for sale. If that doesn't work out for you -- and you're still intent upon playing Mariachi music -- you'll want one with good wide, fast vibrato and reverb settings. (Just kidding about these last two, imaginary "features." In reality, you're looking more for a style of playing than a particular brand of trumpet. But do think about bore sizes for the lead pipe and mouthpieces you choose because these can either enhance or diminish the brilliance of tone you are likely seeking for your chosen musical genre or specialty). Good luck to you, because you're going to have a lot of competition -- Mexico has produced so many trumpet players that it's practically the national instrument (which, in fact, is officially the marimba).ADDITIONAL NOTE: I have read somewhere that the Olds "Mendez" was modeled on a 1936 Besson trumpet that Maestro Mendez played prior to the creation (by Olds) of his own signature model.

How to use valve oil properly:

1. Please oil the trumpet valves anytime before you play, in order to prevent accidental damage to the trumpet pistons.

2. Replace the valve without excessive rotation. As you lower the valve, slowly turn it clockwise until it locks into place. The oil will naturally distribute itself when the valves are depressed.

3. Confirm that the valve has been replaced properly by blowing through the instrument. You will also need to apply oil to the small water key about once a month.

Question:	I bought this trumpet yesterday and since I am beginner, i was trying to play and I hear nothing but air. Any idea what is going on
Answer:	The sound is caused from the vibration of your lips in the mouth piece. Try pressing your lips against your teeth and together. Leave space between your teeth for air to pass through and blow. See if you can make the a high pitch buzz with your lips. Then try to make a sound with just the mouthpiece. Once you get a sound out of the mouthpiece, put it in the trumpet and hit your “middle C” (all valves open). Next try to tighten your lips to make higher pitch tones without pressing any valves. Now your ready to learn the “C scale”.

Answer:	It’s a quality instrument for the price. No it has not exploded, the keys have not gotten stuck, and there hasn’t been any physical damage to the instrument.

Answer:	I am a band director with 10 years of experience and a masters degree in music education. DO NOT BUY THIS INSTRUMENT. It is poorly made and may work for a short time, but once something goes wrong no repair shops will be able to fix it. I have a 6th grade student currently trying to play on one of these pieces of junk and every time he tries to blow in to it, the tuning slide falls out, frustrating the boy and making it impossible to play. Poor quality, poor craftsmanship-- stick with a reputable brand like Yamaha or Conn/Selmer when purchasing instruments. They may cost a little more, but I still have the same Yamaha trumpet I started on as a 5th grader in 1994 and it still works like its brand new.

Answer:	The first thought that pops into my head is the Olds "Mendez" model (named for the great Mexican trumpet virtuoso -- He is still considered by many to be the greatest trumpeter who ever lived), if you can find one that's in playable condition and is for sale. If that doesn't work out for you -- and you're still intent upon playing Mariachi music -- you'll want one with good wide, fast vibrato and reverb settings. (Just kidding about these last two, imaginary "features." In reality, you're looking more for a style of playing than a particular brand of trumpet. But do think about bore sizes for the lead pipe and mouthpieces you choose because these can either enhance or diminish the brilliance of tone you are likely seeking for your chosen musical genre or specialty). Good luck to you, because you're going to have a lot of competition -- Mexico has produced so many trumpet players that it's practically the national instrument (which, in fact, is officially the marimba).ADDITIONAL NOTE: I have read somewhere that the Olds "Mendez" was modeled on a 1936 Besson trumpet that Maestro Mendez played prior to the creation (by Olds) of his own signature model.

Answer:	I seem to recall from a book on symphonic orchestration that the volume of a trumpet is equivalent to that of about eight violins (or about a thousand violas, because these don't play very much). Another fun fact: Did you know that violas are not actually larger than violins? They just appear that way because the violists' heads are smaller. One of my sisters taught middle school orchestra. One of her favorite one-liners during sectional rehearsals was, "C'mon, second violins! If I hadn't wanted you to play, I'd have put you on viola!" (No doubt -- some smart-alec out there is going to tell you that the real difference between a violin and a viola is that the viola burns longer!)

Answer:	A) It's probably a better kit with which to start out than to finish.B) You probably won't sound like Herb Alpert for at least the first few weeks, but try to glean energy and motivation from inspiring examples wherever you might find them. ;-)C) For fat guys I would recommend Weight Watchers, bicycling, walking, and/or the gym. I don't think weight determines what instrument you should play, however. We're probably not going to remember such trumpet greats as Maynard Ferguson, Al Hirt, and Arturo Sandoval as "little guys." As long as it's not a threat to your overall health, a little heft can help a wind player as much as it does an opera singer.

Answer:	7c Which is a standard size for any student trumpet. I was used to using an 11c for an older strumpet that I bought ages ago. In that day the 11 c was standard. But, I do find the 7c has better range. The 11c seemed to be best for lower tones and not so easy for higher tones as I got better. I think the 7c is a better size.

Answer:	Very small. About the size of a piccolo trumpet. I used to have a Getzen Eterna 4 valve. It may even be smaller. It fits into a case that is about one third the size of my Benge trumpet case.
