Boss is a renowned brand in the musical instruments industry, and they are recognized for producing a variety of high-quality guitar effects pedals, including loopers. The Boss Loop Station series is popular among guitarists, and some well-known models include the Boss RC-1, Boss RC-3, Boss RC-30, and Boss RC-300. Each model offers different features and capabilities to cater to various musical needs and preferences.
Key features commonly found in Boss looper pedals include:
Looping Functionality: The primary function of a looper pedal is to record and play back musical loops. Boss loopers typically offer easy-to-use controls for recording, overdubbing, and playing back loops.
Loop Length and Storage: Loopers often allow users to record loops of varying lengths, and some models may provide storage for multiple loops. This feature is particularly useful for building complex arrangements.
Built-in Effects: Some Boss loopers come with built-in effects that can be applied to the recorded loops, allowing for creative sound manipulation.
Rugged and Durable Design: Boss pedals are known for their robust construction, making them suitable for the rigors of live performances and heavy usage.
Easy-to-Use Interface: Boss loopers are designed with user-friendly interfaces, making it simple for musicians to navigate and control the looping process, even in real-time performances.
Compatibility with Other Gear: These pedals often have inputs and outputs for connecting to other musical equipment, such as guitars, amplifiers, or external footswitches.
Undo/Redo Functionality: Many loopers, including those from Boss, offer an undo/redo function, allowing musicians to correct mistakes or experiment with different musical ideas.
It's important to note that the specific features and capabilities can vary between different models in the Boss Loop Station series. Musicians often choose a looper based on their specific requirements and the complexity of their looping needs. And with over 50 rhythms, 13 hours of stereo recording, 99 phrase memories, and more, the compact RC-5 puts a deep well of musical power at your feet.
Super Sound Quality
Featuring the best in class 32-bit AD/DA and 32-bit floating-point processing, the RC-5 captures your personal sound with full fidelity and keeps loops crystal clear, even with multiple overdubs. And with 13 hours of stereo recording time, there’s plenty of space for extended creative journeys.
Window to Your World
The RC-5 features the most advanced interface available in any compact looper pedal. The LCD lets you keep an eye on loop status as you perform, with a backlight that changes color to indicate recording, overdub, and playback states. And coupled with the multi-function parameter knob, it’s quick and easy to navigate rhythms, kits, system settings, and more in the heat of the moment.
Deep Control
The RC-5’s versatile pedal switch controls all looping functions—record, overdub, play, stop, and undo/redo. But deeper control is also supported if you need it. Connect up to two external footswitches for direct control of many assignable functions, or an expression pedal for continuous adjustments. Players with advanced systems will love the TRS MIDI I/O, which saves space and enables remote operation from MIDI switchers and foot controllers, plus MIDI sync with drum machines and DAWs.
Move and Groove, Forward and Back
With 57 preset rhythms and seven different drum kits, the RC-5 is ready to elevate loop and practice sessions with inspiring grooves for any style. For each rhythm, A/B variations can be selected from the panel or controlled via MIDI while performing. The RC-5’s looper engine also includes a cool reverse function that’s great for infusing your music with fresh sonic colors.
Capture, Practice, and Perform
The RC-5 provides 99 phrase memories, letting you store loops as fast as you create them. In addition to audio, a phrase memory includes the selected rhythm and kit, so it’s ready to go when you call it up. Loop audio can be backed up to a computer via USB. And with WAV import via BOSS Tone Studio, the RC-5 becomes a pedalboard playback hub for lesson material, jam tracks, or backing music for your next gig.

User questions & answers
Question: | This only has 1 stereo or dual mono output? guess i'll get a jamman solo xt and a sdrum instead for dual stereo outs |
Answer: | It is one stereo L/R out.You can split the L/R to have one side play guitar looped audio in mono out the right side, and drums out mono on the left side. That way you can have audio looping on say your amp, and then separate out the drums and send to a full range PA instead of having to run them through your amp. You cannot run stereo out left and stereo out right. |
Question: | Is there an option to hold down one button on an external switch that will clear both loops |
Answer: | If you mean clearing layers and drums at the same time, I guess there's not.. |
Question: | Is the charger/ power cable included |
Answer: | Yes, 9v power supply is included. |

Inspiring the Looping Scene for Nearly 20 Years
Right now, somewhere in the world, a live musician is breaking the rules with a loop pedal. From headliners at Glastonbury to the hot-tip local songwriter at the open-mic night, the sheer possibilities of looping have attracted musical mavericks from every genre, each one of them twisting the concept to fit their own vision.
The buzz around looping has never been louder. But every revolution needs a flashpoint – after one million units sold, there's no doubt it was the BOSS RC Loop Station series that lit the fuse.
Next-Generation Loop Station for Modern Song Performers
BOSS’s famous Loop Station products are the leading loopers in the world, with a wide range of models that support the unique creative needs of all types of musicians. The RC-10R introduces a new breed of Loop Station that draws inspiration from popular modern performers who incorporate percussive rhythms with song-style looping. Designed for in-the-moment music creation, the RC-10R gives guitarists and singer/songwriters a unique, free-flowing tool for developing ideas and making stage performances more dynamic and compelling.
A Song-Based Looper and Smart Drum Machine, All in One
The RC-10R brings loops and rhythms together in the most sophisticated and interactive way yet. In contrast with the more basic guide rhythms in other Loop Stations, each of the RC-10R’s rhythms have complete song structures with separate parts. The two-track loop engine works in a serial fashion and is perfectly synced to the rhythm, allowing you to capture independent song sections with their own unique rhythmic backing. Two fill variations bring natural energy when transitioning between sections, while intro and ending fills let you start and finish pieces in an organic way.
Top-Quality Rhythm Sounds and Organic Grooves
The RC-10R is ready to take on whatever music you play, from rock, pop, and acoustic to Latin, jazz, electronica, and beyond. There are over 280 onboard rhythm styles to choose from, all with natural, organic grooves to support your music. And if you don’t find what you need inside, simply import your own SMF rhythms with dedicated Mac/Windows software and store them in 50 user locations. Whatever style you choose, you can easily change the sonic flavor with 16 different kits, instantly transforming a groove from heavy rock to light percussion and everything in-between.
Adapts to Your Creative Approach
While the RC-10R’s loop and rhythm engines work together in complete harmony, they’re also designed to work just as well apart. You’re able to build two independent loops with no rhythmic backing at all, perfect for creating stripped-down song performances and evolving ambient soundscapes. It’s also possible to use the RC-10R as a foot-operated drum machine with real-time control over song sections and fills, making it an essential partner for stage accompaniment, jam sessions, and practice.
Expanded Control for Power Users
With its interactive displays and multi-function controls, the RC-10R is a standalone powerhouse. But some users crave even more control, and the RC-10R delivers. To start, there’s a jack for connecting up to two footswitches or an expression pedal, providing extended control of stop, undo/redo, loop volume, and other functions. Going further, full MIDI I/O is provided on space-saving mini TRS jacks, opening up a multitude of direct-access functions and sync options with other MIDI devices.
Class-Leading Looper Engine
BOSS Loop Stations are renowned for their great sound quality, and the RC-10R offers the best to date. Its loop recording engine features 32-bit AD/DA and 32-bit floating-point processing, providing audio performance that rivals the very best studio gear. And like all Loop Stations, it’s possible to keep the dry signal 100-percent analog to preserve your natural core tone. In addition the processor allows maximum clarity with multiple loop layers, keeping your each layer of your performance crystal clear.
Optimized Sound with Any Setup
Electric guitar and rhythm have different amplification needs—guitarists usually rely on their amp to color their sound, while a rhythm machine needs a clear, full-range system to sound its best. The RC-10R has you covered, allowing you to send the looper and rhythms to discrete outputs and separate amp systems. But in those situations when you can’t run two amps or just want a simpler setup, the RC-10R has a neat trick up its sleeve. With a variety of unique tone filters, you’re able to optimize the guitar and/or rhythm sound for amplification through a single system, whether it’s a guitar amp, PA system, or studio monitors.

Question: | It has amp simulators? I play live and I don't have an amp, I just connect "direct", would it work well |
Answer: | I believe it is 15. Dont quote me on it but I believe it's 15...And you will most definitely need to use a power supply with this particular pedal...I use a One Spot for my 3 pedals....It's just easier on the mind knowing its down there whenever I'm gigging....Question in return, ,,Do you Definately want digital as opposed to analog?... |
Question: | Can I run the preamps through my real tube amp with no problems or is that only for amp simulation for without a amp? Don’t want to mess up my amp |
Answer: | Yes the delay pedal can run on a 9V battery |
Question: | Can you bypass the amp simulations and just use the different effects pedals |
Answer: | Yes it can self oscillate. And with the dirty repeats it sounds amazing. Joyo did an amazing job on this pedal. But it shouldn't be called a digital delay. It has dirty tape echo with warm repeats. Sounds kinda like a eh memory boy Without all the bells and whistles. I've bought 2 of these because I likes it so much and wanted to use them in unison for different timings. |
Question: | Does this have a looping feature? If so, what is the maximum length of the loop that can be created |

ME-80 Guitar Multiple Effects Processor
Mobile, battery powered, and filled with a diverse selection of flagship-quality BOSS amps and effects, the ME-80 is the ideal compact tone processor for performing guitarists. A friendly knob-based interface makes it simple to dial in great sounds in seconds, while easily selectable operation modes offer the flexibility of individual stompbox-style on/off or instant recall of complex multi-effects setups. Unique new footswitches deliver twice the control of previous designs for efficient and intuitive effects switching, patch selection, and real-time sound shaping while playing on stage. The free BOSS TONE STUDIO software unlocks even more tonal possibilities, providing a cool graphical interface for tweaking and organizing sounds on your computer, plus a web connection to BOSS TONE CENTRAL for direct access to free gig-ready patches created by top pro guitarists and much more.
A Huge Selection of BOSS Effects in One Pedal
No matter what style you play, it’s easy to craft your own personal sound with the ME-80’s wide range of built-in effects. A complete history of gig-ready BOSS tone processing is at your command, from multiple overdrives and distortions to wahs, mod effects, pitch shifters, delays, and beyond. BOSS’ groundbreaking Multi Dimensional Processing (MDP) technology is represented with the unique, spacious ambience of Tera Echo and the distinctive tone-shaping possibilities of Overtone. Updated COSM preamps include new additions such as Crunch and Metal, plus an AC preamp designed for acoustic/electric guitar. The onboard expression pedal can be used for foot volume and pedal effects like wah, octave shift, and Freeze, and it’s also possible to control effects parameters such as mod rate, delay oscillation, and more for expressive real-time sound shaping.
Instant Gratification with Dedicated Knobs
Unlike typical menu-driven multi-effects processors that are complicated and unintuitive, using the ME-80 is as easy as using a stompbox. Effects are organized into eight logical categories that can all be active at the same time. Seven categories contain multiple effects types to choose from, plus dedicated knobs for selecting a type and adjusting it with a set of parameters you’d find in the pedal version of the effect. The Pedal FX category has its own knob for quickly assigning a particular effects type or function to be controlled by foot with the expression pedal. With this familiar and friendly interface, you’re able to dial up and play great tones instantly, just like using a large pedalboard filled with your favorite stomps. But a major advantage over that pedalboard is that you can to save all the current knob settings to one of the ME-80’s 36 user patch locations, allowing you to recall custom effects configurations at the touch of a pedal.
Stompbox Immediacy or Multi-FX Power: You Decide
The hands-on experience that stompbox control provides is perfect for tweaking tones as you go. However, there are times when switching among an entire group of preset effects is more efficient, such as when you’ve set up complex tones for different songs. The flexible ME-80 supports either approach, giving you the best of worlds. In Manual mode, the categories function like individual stomp effects, with instant adjustment via the panel knobs and on/off control with dedicated footswitches. By entering Memory mode, seven footswitches are automatically reconfigured to select user or preset patches and patch banks, letting you recall complete multi-effects setups directly. One footswitch on the ME-80 is dedicated just for mode switching, so you can toggle between Manual and Memory modes any time you want, even in the middle of a song.
New Footswitch Design Delivers Twice the Control
The ME-80 offers easy usability while performing, with eight multifunction footswitches for direct control of effects on/off, bank/patch selection, and mode switching, plus convenient access to alternate functions such as tap tempo, tuner, looper control, and more. A special control (CTL) function is also assignable in each patch, letting you toggle grouped effects on/off or adjust a specified parameter in real time. The newly developed footswitch style provides two switches in the space occupied by one in previous designs, allowing BOSS to equip the ME-80 with a generous array of foot-operated controls while keeping the unit extremely compact and mobile. In addition to the eight main footswitches, the expression pedal is equipped with an integrated toe switch that toggles between foot volume and the current Pedal FX setting.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why will it not let me play distortion over a clean tone loop? It always make the clean tone sound the same as my distortion |
Answer: | You're doing something wrong. Either you're using distortion from your amp, or you've placed your distortion pedal after the looper in your signal chain. |
Question: | Can i use a regular 9v power adapter or do i actually have to buy the boss psa adapter |
Answer: | Great question. Two things: 1) I don't use the boss psu on mine. No issues. Works great. 2) my friend did the same and it blew the pedal. It depends on the psu. My suggestion is get the boss to be safe. You can buy them used on eBay or Amazon for like $10-$20. Best to be safe. |
Question: | Does anyone use this unit for live acoustic performance? If so, how does it work in this setting |
Answer: | Yes Works well Just repeats a pattern that is put in or prerecord and use #d memory ( best to write these down You can download or create melodies |
Question: | My friend said he has a problem with it. When he plays a loop with distortion, and whenever he's playing a solo on distortion, the loop seems to fade. Why does this happen? Can this be avoided? I am really eager to purchase the Boss RC-3, but I don't want to run into a problem like this when I'm trying to solo over |
Answer: | I've had the same problem but its an easy fix. I have a volume pedal that connects befor this one. (you can use your guitar volume). When you record something it is set at a specific volume. When you play something louder the pedal fades the other just a tad bit. So if you play something on volume 5, record it and play over it with a volume 10, you will most likely only hear the volume 10 one. If you record volume 5 and then play with volume 1, you will barely hear the volume 1. Its just choosing how loud to play that affects which recordings you hear more. If the recordings are exactly the same volume there will be no problem. I just use my volume pedal to get the right level of volume while i'm playing. *One thing to keep in mind which is a mistake I make every now and then is that I will record at the highest volume then play it back trying to solo over it, and its the same volume making it hard to hear. You can change the volume of the recording to lower but that also affects anything you will record then too. To be honest, you just have to play with it, it is a problem you can easily figure out like I have, its just hard to explain. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I play a WAV of bass, guitar, and drums into the unit, save it to one of the 99 positions, and then play the entire track back |
Answer: | No, the unit plays back one selected 'track' or channel at a time. Go to this web site for the owners manual, page 14 in the manual: http://www.roland.com/support/article/?q=manuals&p=RC-3&id=61922436 |
Question: | Can you set the pedal to a specific BPM rather than tap tempo |
Answer: | Not sure. If you record your own loop maybe?? |
Question: | Can I record several 3-minute rhythm guitar tracks, store them, then play them back live while I sing and play riffs |
Answer: | As long as you don't exceed 3 total hours of recording on the pedal the length of your tracks have no limit, so you could record full songs and play them back while you sing. I've even uploaded a long drum track with an ending and it worked just fine. However I will say unless you program the track to stop at the end it will replay it from the beginning unless you stomp it off. Hope this helps! |
Question: | ive never used anything like this. Can an i record drumming from roto toms and play it through my Stereo reciever |
Answer: | If your kit is run through an amp or sound system, then yes. You just have to supply a signal to the unit. If it can hear it (electronic signal) it will record. Good luck... |

GT-100 COSM Amp Effects Processor
With the new GT-100 Version 2.0 update, BOSS’ high-end multi-effects processor is now even more powerful than before, adding a host of great new features to its already formidable arsenal. Two new amp types are included, along with cutting-edge MDP effects, an acoustic guitar simulator, and an improved rotary effect. A convenient Guitar-to-MIDI function is on board as well, letting you connect to a computer to play soft synths and input MIDI note using your normal guitar. The GT-100’s USB audio capabilities have been expanded too, providing greater flexibility for re-amping applications. And with the BOSS TONE STUDIO software, you can now edit GT-100 patches from a friendly graphical interface on your computer.
Advanced COSM Amps: Beyond Vintage
Recreating the meticulous details of vintage amps and how they behave, the GT-100 excels in not only cloning classic amps, but in creating a new world of unimagined tones as well. The Amp Customize function lets you mutate classic amps beyond reality to construct completely new, unimagined sounds!
The GT-100’s unique dual-LCD and eight-knob user interface provides fast access and intuitive control. There are no menus to navigate; every function is instantly available. The tone-customizing functionality has been improved as well—all patches, amps, and overdrives/distortions can be created from scratch and/or customized with the friendly graphical Tone Grid.
A/B Channel Divider Function
With its next-generation COSM processor, the GT-100 ushers in a new era of expression and sonic capabilities. Another notable feature in the GT-100 is the versatile A/B Channel Divider. This lets you assign different amps and effects to each channel, either for blending together or switching between them with a footswitch. Going even further, you also have the ability to switch channels by playing strength or frequency range. With each channel capable of driving its own effects and amps settings, the range of tones gets wider and wilder! You can assign smooth, mild lead tones to the mid-to-high pitches, for example, and heavy, cutting tones to the lower notes—the tonal possibilities are endless.
Edit and Organize Sounds with BOSS TONE STUDIO
Available as a free download for Mac or Windows, BOSS TONE STUDIO gives you an intuitive graphical interface for creating and editing GT-100* effects patches from your computer via USB. The software also makes it easy to organize and archive patches, and to load them as needed for different gigs and recording sessions. If your computer has Internet access, BOSS TONE STUDIO provides an integrated connection to the BOSS TONE CENTRAL website, where you can preview and download free gig-ready patches created by top guitar pros directly into the GT-100.
*GT-100 Version 2.0 software is required for compatibility with BOSS TONE STUDIO.

RC-500 Loop Station
The RC-500 is an essential partner for guitarists, singer/songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and anyone who wants to take their looping to the next level. Craft real-time compositions with two loop tracks, mic and stereo instrument inputs, rhythms, and inspiring Loop FX, all backed by premium 32-bit audio quality. Store loops in onboard memories, and explore expanded operation with external controls and MIDI. Filled with next-generation Loop Station features, the RC-500 gives serious creators the tools they need to develop new ideas and deliver impactful performances that will leave audiences wanting more.
Super Sound Quality
Featuring class leading 32-bit AD/DA and 32-bit floating-point processing, the RC-500 captures your personal sound with full fidelity and keeps loops crystal clear, even with multiple overdubs. And with 13 hours of stereo recording time, there’s plenty of space for extended creative journeys.
Connect, Loop, and Mix
With its versatile I/O and free-flowing interface, the RC-500 is ready to support all your musical visions. Connect mono/stereo instruments and pedal effects, plus a mic to the dedicated XLR input—complete with phantom power if needed. Use the two tracks independently for song-style composition, or together for rich multi-track textures. The LCD backlight changes color to clearly show the current operation mode, while hands-on track faders and a mic level knob provide direct access to volume control as you loop.
Flexible Creative Control
Three onboard footswitches make it simple to control recording and playback, track switching, and more. For expanded operation, you can connect up to two external footswitches for direct control of many assignable functions, or an expression pedal for continuous adjustments. And for advanced rigs, the space-saving TRS MIDI I/O enables remote operation from MIDI switchers and foot controllers, plus MIDI sync with drum machines and DAWs.
Personalize Your Setup
The RC-500’s I/O and footswitches are configured for basic operations by default, but they can be reassigned in a variety of ways to meet your custom needs. Route left/right input sources to separate tracks, or send guitar and vocals to independent outputs. Use the footswitches to turn effects on/off, start/stop rhythms, and more. Custom assignments are saved along with phrase memories, letting you instantly reconfigure the RC-500 for any application.
Energize Performances with Rhythms and Loop FX
Loaded with inspiring rhythms and evocative loop processing, the RC-500 is primed to bring groove and color to all your looping adventures. Each of the 57 preset rhythms include A/B variations, while 16 different drum kits provide sounds to match any style. There’s a cool reverse function too, perfect for creating unique sonic flavors on demand.
Capture, Practice, and Perform
The RC-500’s 99 phrase memories let you store loops as fast as you create them, complete with rhythm and kit selections, audio settings, and control assignments. Loop audio can be backed up to a computer via USB. And with WAV import via BOSS Tone Studio, the RC-500 becomes a central playback hub for lesson material, jam tracks, or backing music for your next gig.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the pedal be connected directly to speakers? or do I need a mixer or DI whatever.. to make sound better? plz help |
Answer: | Microsoft life cam program free download I use it in Skype don't know if this will be of any help to or not great little camera good quality |
Question: | Can it sync tempo with other gear using midi sync |
Answer: | You need to have an HDTV, one that will allow you to go to change your Xbox 360 settings to at least 720p. If you don't have an HDTV, then it won't work. To do this you go to Console Settings--->Display and change your settings to at least 720p. Once you do this, when your coop buddy signs onto their profile and you load the game, it will automatically bring in whoever is signed on at the time. This cable should allow you to go HD but you can go to any electronics shop (the source ect.) and pick up an "HDMI" cable, it will cost about $15 and will work perfectly. Cheers. Good luck, then! |
