Answer: | You tap it to alter the delay time or tremolo speed. Tap it twice and the time between taps becomes the setting for those functions. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this only for acoustic guitars |
Answer: | I wouldn't plug an electric guitar into it, just as you wouldn't want to put acoustic strings on an electric guitar |
Question: | I wonder if this is decent enough to be used as a speaker for my laptop or phone as well? To play music in general besides plugging in my acoustic |
Answer: | The speaker is fine. The Blackstar Fly3 with extension speaker is much better. |
Question: | can you use this amp for a loop pedal |
Answer: | You can use the amp WITH a loop pedal. The amp itself does not have a pedal. |
Question: | Each channel has its separate volume control. Do the bass/mid/treble and equalizer controls effect both channels or just channel |
Answer: | The bass, mid, treble, and chorus are only for channel 2, channel 1 is like a dedicated microphone input, no effects, with a mic cable input. The concept, I think, for this amp, was for the singer/songwriter, to have their sound amplified at home, or in a smaller venue. For a small amp, it sounds pretty decent, and sometimes I just use the mic input lightly amplified, with an un-amplified acoustic guitar. You could also run a mic with a 1/4 guitar type plug into channel 2, gets some (mic) effects, with an um-amplified guitar. I have not actually done that, but don't see why one couldn't do so. Musicians love different musical effects, right??? |

User questions & answers
Question: | can you use sep. effects petals, i have a volcal harminizer effects petal, can that be hooked up to my mic |
Answer: | Yes! It gives a clean sound, easy to carry, and loud enough for medium size places. I used these for church and they were perfect. |
Question: | Can I use it on 220V |
Answer: | 600 watts !!! No way, try to compare this with another amp such as Roland keyboard amp.I own a Behringer K1800FX, rated at 180 watts, same look and physical size as this one and I would say it delivers about 80 watts at most. This kind of output rating gives me lot of doubts about the manufaturers of lower quality brands (such as Behringer, Pyle, etc...). ROLAND, FENDER don't do that. |
Question: | Can I use this as a vocal amplifier/PA |
Answer: | I know this is an old question but my answer will apply to just about any amp with a stereo link. A stereo link allows you to connect another amp. The output sends the signal to another amp and the input receives the signal from another amp. Adding another KXD12 using the stereo link would give you a total of 8 channels to work with. I can also say that this will also function as a built in effects loop because I have used it that way. |
Question: | Is this amp mainly used for keyboards or acoustic guitars? What is it best suited for |
Answer: | Yes, this amp sounds nice for that. However, if you are looking for a LOUD amp this one might not be enough. I recommend you use a preamp or boost your output signal to the KXD12 for best results. It also works good when connected to a PA system. On a side note, I have had intermittent issues with the built in effects unit and the eq sliders are a bit delicate. Overall, for the money I paid, I’ve been happy with the KXD12. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would you say this is loud enough to play with a band |
Answer: | Plug into the wall |
Question: | Is it worth the extra money for mkii |
Answer: | This depends on the venue. For karaoke at home or in a very small room with a small crowd, it may be okay, but for large rooms or big crowds, you may want to invest in a good PA system. |
Question: | What does the power setting do |
Answer: | Comes with an AC power cord but does not come with the cord that goes from guitar to the amp. |
Question: | whats the differance between the 50 and the 50 mkII |
Answer: | Yes absolutely. It does have one speaker and makes plenty of sound for such a small amp. I use it for both my keyboard and acoustic/electric guitar... It has a standard input jack. You can also plug in a mic or headphones. It's very well made and lives up to Fender's quality. Good Luck, hope this helps! |
Product features
THE EVOLUTION OF A MODERN CLASSIC
Katana MkII takes the acclaimed Katana guitar amp series to the next level, turbocharging the core platform with more sounds, more effects, and more features. Newly voiced variations are now available for all five amp characters, doubling the tonal options. And the onboard effects categories have been expanded from three to five, providing even more real-time processing to choose from. The usability has been ramped up too, with a power amp input for modelers and multi-FX, updated editor software, and many other enhancements.
More Sounds, More Versatility
The stage-class Katana MkII lineup picks up where the first generation left off, building on the same core tones and features that have made the series such a worldwide smash. If you loved the original Katana amps, you'll love Katana MkII even more. And if you're new to the party, get ready for sound, feel, and versatility that soars far beyond its class.
Five Amp Characters, Ten Overall Tones
Katana MkII's five primary amp characters offer everything from organic vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds, plus a dedicated voice optimized for acoustic-electric guitar. The characters have now been extended with newly voiced variations, providing a wider palette of tone options to craft your personal sound.
Five Effects At Once
Katana MkII now includes five simultaneous effects categories, putting the tone-shaping power of a massive pedalboard right inside your amp. Independent Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, and Reverb sections come loaded from the factory with three variations in each, providing 15 ready-to-play effects to choose from. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio lets you dive much deeper if you want—customize the sections with over 60 different effect types, change the order with four different chains, and much more.
Full-Throttle Sound Every Time You Plug In
Backed by BOSS's Tube Logic approach, Katana MkII delivers the authentic output distortion characteristics of genuine tube amplifiers, with the sound and feel becoming richer and more responsive as you turn up the volume. But unlike that classic tube amp, Katana MkII's variable Power Control makes it easy to fly in the sweet spot without getting fired from the gig or kicked out of the house. Just throttle back the overall volume as needed to enjoy inspiring, cranked-amp sound anywhere you play, from bedroom to stage.
Amplify Your External Gear
The Katana-50 MkII rocks as a standalone amp, but it also excels as a powered cabinet for a favorite preamp, modeler, or multi-effects unit. Connecting to the rear-panel Power Amp In jack bypasses Katana MkII's preamp and effects, letting you tap straight into the Tube Logic power section, complete with grab-and-go Power Control. And with BOSS Tone Studio, the input can be easily optimized for your particular gear with a high-pass filter and adjustable gain.
One-Touch Recall Of Custom Setups
One of the Katana-50 MkII's most powerful features is the ability to store favorite amp character and effects setups in Tone Setting memories for instant recall. After you've dialed in a sound with the panel controls, simply save it to the desired memory with a quick button hold. Four Tone Settings (two banks of two) are available, with fast selection right from the panel. It's also possible to connect external footswitches for hands-free control on the gig.
Ready-To-Mix Direct Tones
The Katana-50 MkII features USB and phones/recording outputs with mic'd cabinet emulation, letting you send mix-ready amp tones to a computer DAW or headphones. The direct sound can be shaped with three different Air Feel settings, which are accessible from BOSS Tone Studio. Two-channel USB operation is supported, allowing you to track in true stereo with many of Katana's modulation, EQ, delay, and reverb effects.
BOSS Tone Studio Enhancements
BOSS Tone Studio has also evolved alongside the Katana MkII amplifiers. The interface has been updated with a refreshed look, and a number of parameters have been consolidated into the main screen for faster workflow. There's also a dedicated Pedal FX category, making it easier to assign wah and pedal bend effects to a connected expression pedal. And if you're a first-gen Katana owner, it's possible to import your custom patches and use them all with Katana MkII.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work if you run just one xlr cable to the input? will i get sound in both ears of my in ear monitors |
Answer: | 51.39 Libras If your question refers to the ancient Roman Libra... 1 pound = 1.40431074 libra |
Question: | Could i plug the p1 into a monitor mix (using a speakon -> male xlr cable) that's already powered via an amp? or would this blow things up |
Answer: | 120v |
Question: | For my monitor mix, would I come from the boards AUX channel? Or should I come from a power amplifier? Looking to not blow up my new toy |
Answer: | The Clip lights on the front relate to the output levels and their distortion of the the sound coming out of the amp. From the manual: "Should distortion occur, reduced the input level so that the CLIP LED stops lighting up." The Clip limiter switch on the back is related to the input level being fed to the amplifier and allow the amp to "automatically recognize distortion and lower amplification until distortion is reduced to a tolerable level." (also from the manual). It states that at moderate distortion it reduces the input level moderately, and at higher levels of distortion it reduces the audio level more. It seems to be weighted more to reduce the levels on the higher frequencies to protect tweeters (which DO tend to be more fragile) as opposed to woofers. Since I'm running mine in a three way system and the Behringer is only on the low end (~160 Hz and below) I have not engaged the input limiter using the back panel switches, but your application might benefit from that which is why I think they include that as a feature. |
Question: | Can i intercept some of the vocalist microphone audio and amplify for an earpiece? My vocalists needs to hear themselves but my mixer is far a way |
Answer: | It's a 2 ohm stable stereo power amplifier @ 2000 watts. It can also be bridged to mono @ a 4 ohm load. So, it sounds like it can be used in your application |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried using a USB mic with this |
Answer: | Yes and no. We've used it for vocals in a band that did many different formats. More as a monitor than a amp though. It's loud, but it's not massively loud. |
Question: | Has anyone used this for vocals in an R&B band and if so how did it perform |
Answer: | Yes, standard power cord like a desktop computer or any other piece of sound equipment (3 prong grounded). You can play audio with a flash drive through the USB plug OR you can plug an mp3 player (or laptop, phone, etc) into the "CD INPUT" using a 3.5mm to stereo rca cable (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=3.5mm+to+rca&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3A3.5mm+to+rca)Hope that helps! It's a nice speaker (best of all it's super portable). You can also save a few bucks and buy the Behringer EUROLIVE B205D. It's the same 150 watts only in a 5.5inch speaker, no usb input (if you don't plan on using that!) and 2 XLR-1/4" inputs instead of 3. |
Question: | Does this have a standard power cord that plugs into the wall? Can you hook an external mp3 player up to it easily? HOw is that done |
Answer: | I checked both guitar center and amazon. make sure to check the warranty prices |
Question: | How do I buy it |
Answer: | Yes. You need the patch chords that should come with it. We transferred it easily to the TV. |
