Answer:	Any member of this family, 2,4, 8 port can be hooked up to a stereo receiver. This is an un-powered mechanical switch that does not modify the signal in any way. You can use it for just audio, just video, or both. You can use it to send several signal sources to one input of the receiver or vice versa - one output to a variety of other devices (recorders, displays, etc.) Either way, you can only connect one device at a time to one other. One input at a time to the receiver, or the receiver to ONE downstream device at a time. There is no signal processing whatever, so the electrons can go either way. Note that this is intended as a line-level device, so you may hear noise pickup if using it at magnetic phono signal levels (or if you have a loose connection), and you may damage the device if you use this for speaker switching due to high currents when playing speakers loudly. You will probably not burn switch contacts if you turn off the volume when changing a speaker selection, but who remembers to bother to do that especially when you are trying to compare how two sets of speakers sound?

Answer:	You cannot send one signal to 8 outputs AT THE SAME TIME, but you should be able to send the one signal to any ONE of the 8 ports of your choosing. This is only a mechanical switch and the electrons do not know or care which way they are going so long as there is a path to follow. My use is to have two of these stacked together and have one as an input switcher and the other as an output switcher. I do not need hi-def, and my older sources don't have HDMI. Answer:	No, this device cannot convert a 2D signal to a 3D signal. It is merely stating that you can run a 3D signal through the box without issues. The Tv, Cable, this box, whatever is driving the display (eg, a disk player.console, or pc), and the content you're trying to stream all have to all support a 3D signal. Movies especially, are hard to find in 3D. The film needs to be recorded with two cameras working simultaneously, like how people use two eyes to make a 3d image of their surroundings. Doing this without two cameras requires someone to guess how close the object should be, a very imperfect science. --Basic rundown on how 3D works The marketing is referring to HDMI's ability to carry a stereo-graphic 3D signal. This is used by special tvs to make a 3 dimensional image. It is basically two simultaneous video streams. One goes into the left eye and the other goes into the right (the exact technology that achieves this varies, but it requires special hardware, like special glasses that only allow a frame of video to go through one eye at a time, and alternates at a rate too fast to notice).
