Answer:	Yes, I washed it in a washing machine, gentle cycle. I don't recommended drying it for too long, it will shrink.

Answer:	I just went outside with the tape measure. The frame stretches ten feet in length from top hook to top hook. The width of the base poles are four feet. It does take up a good deal of space (more than expected), but not unreasonable. It should be noted that it is really easy to assemble and disassemble and put in the bag, so it doesn't need to take up patio space all of the the time. It only takes a few minutes and one person to put together or pull apart. Hope that helps! We are really enjoying this hammock.
