11 best french campsites
French campsites, often referred to as campgrounds or camping sites, are popular destinations for outdoor enthusiasts, tourists, and travelers looking to experience the natural beauty and diverse landscapes of France. These campsites offer a range of accommodation options and amenities to cater to various camping preferences. Here's what you should know about French campsites:
Scenic Locations: French campsites are located in some of the most picturesque areas of the country. They can be found in the countryside, near lakes, rivers, mountains, and coastal regions, providing campers with stunning natural surroundings.
Camping Options: French campsites offer a variety of camping options, including tent camping, RV camping (known as "camping-car" in France), and cabin or chalet rentals. This diversity allows visitors to choose the type of accommodation that suits their needs and preferences.
Amenities: Campsites in France vary in terms of amenities. Some provide basic facilities like restrooms, showers, and picnic areas, while others offer more luxurious amenities such as swimming pools, restaurants, on-site entertainment, and Wi-Fi access. The level of amenities often corresponds to the campsite's rating and price.
Campsite Ratings: Campsites in France are usually rated using a star system, similar to hotels. A higher star rating typically indicates more amenities and services. Campers can choose campsites based on their desired level of comfort and convenience.
Reservations: It's advisable to make reservations in advance, especially during the peak camping season, which generally runs from late spring to early autumn. Many campsites allow online booking, making it convenient for travelers to plan their stays.
Activities: French campsites often organize various activities and events to keep campers entertained. These may include sports, nature walks, cultural programs, and themed evenings. Nearby attractions like hiking trails, biking routes, and historical sites are also common.
Natural Diversity: France's campsites offer access to a wide range of natural environments, from the vineyards of Bordeaux to the beaches of the French Riviera to the alpine meadows of the French Alps. This diversity makes it possible to choose a camping location that suits your interests and outdoor activities.
Camping Regulations: While camping in France is generally well-regulated and safe, it's essential to be aware of local camping regulations and adhere to them. Campers are typically required to respect the environment, avoid wild camping in protected areas, and follow campsite rules.
Cuisine: French campsites often feature on-site restaurants or snack bars where campers can savor local cuisine. Exploring the regional dishes and wines can be a delightful part of the camping experience.
Camping Clubs: Some campers choose to join camping clubs or associations that offer benefits such as discounts, camping tips, and access to exclusive campsites. These clubs can enhance the camping experience in France.
In summary, French campsites offer a diverse and scenic range of options for campers and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you prefer a rustic tent experience in the countryside or a more comfortable stay with modern amenities, you can find a campsite in France to suit your preferences and enjoy the beauty of the French outdoors.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have the original Jetboil. Which size will fit |
Answer: | Thank you for asking! For the original 1L cup, you would just need the standard size. The Grande is for the larger rimmed cups as the Sumo and MiniMo. Happy Camping!! |
Question: | the coffee press is compatible with the jetboil 0.8L |
Answer: | Yes, it works just fine. |
Question: | Two different sizes listed. Which size fits the minimo/wider dimension |
Answer: | The one that is $12.95 is the wider one. The listing is kind of messed up, but when you click on the $12.95 one, the Item Model Number changes below to the COF076 which is the wider one. The COF075 is the narrow one. |
Question: | does this french press fit all makes of jetboils |
Answer: | No it doesn't. It fits the Jetboil products which have a 104mm diameter. The Sumo Jetboils are 125mm in diameter and the Helios are 115mm, so this won't work with those products. I haven't used everything Jetboil makes, but the coffee press does match up with the Sol, Zip and Flash products. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | We are using this for camping. Will it work over both the propane stove and the campfire |
Answer: | I have used mine over the campfire many times. Don't see why it wouldn't work over propane. |
Question: | Is it porcelain inside as well as outside |
Answer: | The inside is the same as the outside. |
Question: | says 8cup is that 6oz or 8oz cup, anyone have ideal on totat capacity 1qt,2qt |
Answer: | I just poured five 8-ounce cups of water into the coffee pot. That brought the waterline up to approximately 1/4" below the bottom of the spout. Hopefully, this is helpful to you. |
Question: | I just received this and it was wrapped in plastic with no box and no instructions! I have never used one of these before. Help |
Answer: | Hello, Kristen. Although odd that you did not receive instructions and a box, you can still be okay. Fill the pot to the desired level with cold water. Place the basket and stand inside. Put fresh coffee grounds in the basket. You can heat on a stove or over a camp fire. The water will percolate into the glass atop the pot - it's acutally pretty cool. WHen it stops, the coffee is done. BUT, the handle is probably hot, too - use a mitt. Enjoy! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much metal is in this press? I am worried about rusting in humid, salty conditions. I'm looking for a press with minimal metal (rustable) parts |
Answer: | The only metal in the entire press is the plunger shaft and the filtering screen. Both are stainless steel so corrosion should be a non issue provided you don't make your coffee using salt water lol. Seriously tho this is a great press. Light and well built. 30 oz capacity and makes killer coffee. Has a nice insulated jacket to. No more nasty instant coffee in the back country. Well worth the xtra pound or so of fresh ground in your pack. Hope this helps. Roger..aka Old Mountain Man of Idaho |
Question: | Could some please tell me much coffee do you put in this before adding the water |
Answer: | One third to half a cup depending on the strength of coffee and desired strength |
Question: | Can this be used over a fire |
Answer: | No. It’s a french press, not a percolator. You pour coffee and hot water into it, & then push the plunger down to filter it. |
Question: | What material is the handle made of |
Answer: | Webbing handle. Comfortable and durable. I nest it in one of my GSI pots for backpacking. Works pretty good, just don't over do-it on the amount of coffee you press. |

Hello!
If you’re already a reader of my books welcome, and if you’re just checking out my novels, I hope you find something you like.
I currently live in Brittany but I have three places I often refer to as ‘home’: Devon, Brittany and the South of France. Having lived in all of them I know certain areas like Dartmouth, Finistere, Cannes well and they are the places where I like to set my stories.
Several of my books have been international bestsellers including, Villa of Sun and Secrets, A Riviera Retreat and Rendez-vous in Cannes - all three are set down in the South of France. Little Kiosk By the Sea and Summer at Coastguard Cottages, both set in Dartmouth, have also been international bestsellers.
My stories usually span the generations with characters ranging in age and having to cope with unexpected problems in their lives - but there is always a hopeful ending, even if there are tears before.
Happy Reading! Love, Jennie xx
