| Answer: | I placed one Packrat and Rodent Deterrent under the hood of my Grand Marquis and the rats built their nest right next to it, blinking light and all. I placed another under the hood of my Ford van and the rats built their nest about a foot away from the blinking light. I had a false sense of security with these blinking lights and the rats were not at all intimidated by them. When I took my Grand Marquis in for electrical repairs that the rats had done after installing the lights, the technician told me about the Packrat and Rodent Deterrent Device and that I should install one. He then popped my hood and shook his head. The light still blinks under the engine, and there is only remenants of insulation on the hood just above the light. The pack rats used the insulation to build their nest next to the light. Crazy. I would definitely not recommend buying this device. I have since purchased a hanging light from harbor freight and set it up on a timer from dusk to dawn. I check daily for any rat activity and have seen zero activity for over two months now. I still have the Packrat and Rodent Deterrent Device hooked up and it's still blinks. I don't think that it is serving as a Pied Piper to the rats, I just think it an expensive placebo of false hope. Save yourself a bundle of cash, pop your hood and hang a light from Harbor Frieght at a fraction of the cost. |

| Answer: | 8910W works just fine without WiFi, you just cannot manage it via the phone app or web. Yes it should reconnect when WiFi comes back. I occasionally (every 1-2 months) reboot the WiFi access points when upgrading their firmwares, and the 8910W reconnects just fine. |

| Answer: | Yes, I agree they do seem "a bit pricey". So are home and car security systems. It's impossible measure the value of something that works to stop something unwanted from happening. In this case, getting ignition wires eaten by rodents or pesty and stinky nests being built on the engine or worse, having the car infested by mice. I started out buying one of the Rid-a-Rat blink devices. In my opinion it worked. I had no pests. So I have now bought about 6 of them, 4 powered by two AA batteries and two that are wired directly to my SUV's battery. They seem to be not only keeping out rodents but also cats who were leaving hair and muddy prints inside my RZR. I change the AA batteries every 6 months as recommended. The two that are wired to my SUV battery, just keep working without maintenance. Lastly, because these were designed and made in Arizona, they seem built to put up with the summer heat and engine heat. They also keep working on coldest winter weather we have up north. In my opining, yes "pricey" but worth the price. |
