Answer:	You must have a surface that you are pointing the device at. In other words it is not going to measure the air temp in the oven. If you have a baking steel or Pizza stone this would be perfect to measure the surface temperature. If you want to get the temperature of the grate, that works too. I hope this was helpful.

Answer:	I use this device for my wood burning stove that's in my outdoor sauna. I aim it at the side of the burning chamber and it works great. I know when it's 600F or higher, that there is a good burn inside. When the temp drops to 500F or lower, I know it's time to add wood!

Question:	What is the distance that it can detect with accuracy
Answer:	I calibrated mine by pointing it at a cup of boiling water and it was within a couple of degrees. I usually use it at fairly close range (wheel bearings, tires, heating pads, etc) so haven't done any tests to determine long range accuracy but because of the physics of infrared I have no reason to believe it would be any less accurate at longer range. However it is rated at 12:1 spot ratio which means at twelve feet it would nominally be measuring the temperature of a one-foot circle and the farther removed you are the large the circle you would be averaging. One reason I chose this model was because its 12:1 rating was tighter than many other brands which were rated at 10:1 and 8:1. I have also used it to detect cold spots in my walls while standing back 8-12 feet and it has done this reliably.

Q:Can this temperature gun measure the temperature of the human body?

A: No! Human body surface temperature will often change with the environment and other factors, Our infrared thermometer can measure the object surface temperature and body surface temperature, Human thermometers also measure the surface temperature of the human body, but just due to has the temperature conversion software inside the instrument , So the measurement value is closer to the body temperature, so our the laser temperature gun is not accurate enough for measuring the body temperature.

Q:How accurate is the infrared thermometer?Is it better than contact thermometers?

A: The temp gun measures the surface temperature of objects, accurate measurement and sensitive response. Holding down the measuring switch which only takes 1 to 2 seconds to measure the temperature, easy to use.

Q:Can it measure liquid temps?

Q:Why is the temperature incorrect (lower than real temp) when measuring LED lights, plugs, terminals and linkers?

D : S= 12 : 1, means the Distance to the Spot Size of the unit is 12 : 1. As the Distance(D) from the target surface increases, the spot size of the area measured(S) by the unit becomes larger. So in order to get more accurate temperature, please pay attention to the Distance to Spot Size, or it will get some error if you neglect this.

Answer:	It is not officially tested with certification. It is weather resistant. It has rubber grommets on the ends to keep moisture out but is not submersible. I have a couple in my yard setup on permanent string lights and also one on an extension cord on the ground and I've never had an issue. I live in the Midwest with plenty of seasons.
