Other IR measurement devices, and I have one from Etekcity that's black and yellow is good for temps from -58F to 716F degrees per the label on it. That one just measured by stover burner at 408F, plus my fridge was 40F and freezer was +3F. This one is much better for humans and the etekcity is better for no humans. I read 94F on Etekcity and 98.6F for this unit on my forehead. This is made for people.

Answer:	I'm 5' 4" & hate bending over to use a cane. I normally use a regular metal cane, but got the folding one for travel. I started out with putting the silver adjust button all the way to the top of the top piece to shorten it(out of sight), but then put it back into the top hole as I used it. If you do that, then it should be fine for 5' 2", IMO. Mine stayed "stuck" like that, too. But the top hole ended up being the best for my height. Alternatively, it would not be hard to take the rubber tip off & with a metal saw, cut an inch or two off the bottom. Any hardware store or home center could probably do this for you if you don't have access to a metal saw. Many drug stores have this cane, so you could try it out. Amazon has the best selection of patterns & colors, tho!! I got a purple one & love it. Hope this helps. Any shorter than 5' 2" would have problems with this cane being too long, so would have to take some off the bottom end.

The wavelength of the sensor is 8-14 microns and plexiglass has very low transmittance beyond about 3 microns (according to this spec sheet http://www.plexiglas.com/export/sites/plexiglas/.content/medias/downloads/sheet-docs/plexiglas-general-information-and-physical-properties.pdf). Whether or not the material your dryer door is made of is the same is another matter. If the transmittance is close to zero then you will essentially be measuring the temperature of the outside of the door.
Question:	Does this work on internal meat temperatures
Answer:	If you cut the meat in half you might be able to take the surface temperature of the meat, but then your meat is going to be cut in half and that's not real appetizing. Blue cheese is very appealing, maybe some bacon.

Answer:	If your child can open their mouth and hold it open for a few seconds, then YES! It is an extremely accurate way to measure temperature!
