Question:	I will be using this meter once a month. Do I need storage solution for the probe
Answer:	Storing the probe in the storage solution helps keep the probe's sensitivity and accuracy. So it's a recommended practice. While storing the probe without any solution will not damage the probe, it's just going to cause the probe to lose its sensitivity and accuracy temporarily. Store the probe in the storage solution again for about 10 minutes, the sensitivity and accuracy can be restored.
Question:	Can anyone confirm if this comes pre calibrated
Answer:	The tester has been calibrated before they went out of the factory. But since there is a time gap before they reach our customers, we recommend doing the calibration with the included premixed buffer solutions before your first use.Thanks for your interest!
Question:	Can this be used to analyze urine
Answer:	Yes, it can tests urine with no problem. You can use the probe cap as a container for the urine.
Question:	How often does this pH meter need to be re-calibrated and/or how can I tell when it needs to be re-calibrated
Answer:	The manufacturer recommends keeping the device probe in a neutral storage solution; the protective tip case/container actually has a 'fill' line for guidance, and it is designed to hold a liquid safely when stored as indicated -- If someone uses distilled or deionized water by itself as a storage solution, the salts contained in the probe tip will dissipate and the probe will then need to be replaced--about $25, plus a fine headache trying to get it right. If you are out of storage solution keeping the probe wet somehow is better than dry--but don't store without the specialized solution for more than a day or so; these are typically $10-$13 for 100ml - 250ml size bottles on Amazon.

Question:	Can it test ethanol
Answer:	Since the refractometer has a single point of calibration adjustment its better to calibrate using a 35ppt solution instead of distilled water, otherwise you get calibration errors. This is because you cant predict the "ramp" from 0. With a 2 point calibration you would adjust the low end at 0 using distilled water and then the high end at 70ppt using a 70ppt solution. Now you have adjusted the ramp properly. Nearly all aquarium refractometers are single point devices so the 2 point method isnt possible - e.g there arent separate high and low adjustment screws
Question:	Whats the minimum amount of a solution needed for this to provide an accurate result
Answer:	I bought this after trying to use one of those aquarium hydrometers. This is far more accurate. It has 2 scales. The one I use (also on the hydrometer) is specific gravity(SG). Fish only/live rock tanks can have an SG of 1.022-1.025. Reef tanks need a little higher, about 1.025-1.026.The aquarium hydrometers were almost useless, as they could vary between .005 SG between readings of the same water. This one is dead on.

Answer:	Yes, the batteries can be replaced. It takes 2 LR44G "button cell" batteries like the batteries that go in watches, ect. The unit has an auto shut-off so the batteries should last a good long time.
Question:	Can this be used to check for collodial silver in the 10 ppm range in a solution of distilled water
Answer:	No it can't. It doesn't detect specific elements or chemicals. Though the way calcium, lead, and collodial silver may dissolve would effect the numerical value of TDS and if you knew that in 100 ml of 45 deg Celsius water would only hold X# ppm of an element you might be able to figure it out based on the numerical value shown.
Question:	What temperature was this device calibrated at? I noticed that readings vary with temperature. How do I get a consistent reading
Answer:	FROM HM DIGITAL: The TDS-EZ was calibrated at 25 degrees Celsius (77F), but more importantly, the TDS-EZ is one of HM Digital's most basic meters and does not have Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC). Therefore, since it does not have ATC, you will see discrepancies when testing hotter or colder from the baseline of 25C/77F.If your water is typically around this temperature, it won't be much of a difference, but if +/-10 degrees or more from 25C/77F, it's a good idea to get a meter with ATC, such as HM Digital's TDS-3, TDS-4, AP-1, COM-80 or COM-100.
