Question:	How well will this work to measure the sound level in a car cabin
Answer:	IT can work fine. When turned “on” it displays an internal reading that appears high. Ignore this reading because the car read is probably higher.

Answer:	no you can not program it at all. it just has the microphone on top to pick the noise up and then shows you on the display what the noise level is.

Answer:	I'm not sure what you mean "lock" but you can check for the loudest db very easily, and the lowest db, too. It doesn't stay on that number forever though. Or at least I haven't gotten it to do that. But I'm usually too busy trying to figure out the average db's. I wish it told me that. It cycles off after so long (maybe 20 - 30 min.) and then you've lost all the data.

Answer:	"Made In China" ... that is what is molded on the 9v battery door. Not sure why that really matters as it seems that 80% of the world's products come from China. If we were a bit more tyrannical, empirical, communistic methods then maybe we could compete but who wants to make products where we poison the community, the workers and their minds. I remember where things were "Made in the USA" and if it came from another country it was like "wow!" really? Answer:	It will read the ambient sound level, and the compressor will be part of that. It shouldn't matter what the sound is at 300 ft. Get a copy of your town's noise ordinance; work with the cops, if that is not satisfactory, lawyer up.

Answer:	The one I have seems pretty accurate, comparing the readings to a minidsp umik-1 they are very close. Assuming the umik-1 is calibrated correctly I would say decently accurate.

Answer:	It would work. Just set the interval for like every 15 minutes for 24 hours, it will save it onto an XL spreadsheet. I'm not sure about 12 hours though, you have to see how long it will stay on before turning off automatically

Question:	Is it normal for the device to measure 47 dBA in a quite room out of the box
Answer:	47 seems a bit high, but listen to what is around you. There may be things that you've grown accustom to and therefore 'tune them out'. If you have a large closet with a fair amount of hanging clothes (they absorb a lot of noise), try it in there. In my case I get 38-40. Also, holding it can make a difference. What do you get if you put it on a tripod? I had an opportunity to compare mine to a pro-quality unit (> $2,500) in a sound room, but didn't think about it at the time given the rush to get things done.

You may wish to consider Amprobe SM-10 at $172 as it seems to meet ANSI, IEC, JISC (Japan) and N10140 (Australian) standards

Answer:	You can adjust the following 4 things pertaining to the alarm: 1) what decibel level sets it off, 2) when triggered, how long does the alarm go off (defaults to 120 seconds, but you can adjust it down), 3) how loud the alarm should be when it goes off (it beeps kind of like an alarm clock - this controls how loud the beeping is), 4) you can turn the alarm feature on or off

Question:	Which Windows operating systems is this software compatible with
Answer:	I have never been able to get the software to work under Windows 10 Pro. It never recognizes the device. I spent many hours trying to get it to work. I tried to get it working on my 8 core desktop, a Microsoft Surface Book, and a Surface Book 2 when I upgraded. I also emailed back and forth with support several times. They tried their best to help, but none of their suggestions worked, so I finally gave up on using the Windows software with this device. It's a shame because the PC connection is one of the reasons I chose this device over other brands. Of course, by the time I gave up, it was well past the return period. Fortunately, as a stand-alone device, this meter works very well. So, even without the PC software, it's a great value. In fact, despite the software issues, I'm still pretty happy with this meter. I hope this was helpful.

The first mode simply reads the noise level at a constant rate, continually flucuating as the noise level changes. The other mode as she mentioned is the "MAX" mode. When you set it to this mode it will hold the highest reach noise level since placing the meter on MAX mode. Even most "VERY quiet rooms" are going to have a readings of anywhere from 35-45dba.Using it in a room of a house away from any busy streets, with all windows and doors closed, all ventilation off and all air ducts closed and no humans or animals in the room, MAY allow you to get down to 35dBa or so. Hello thanks for asking. Yes, our sound level meter has back-light alarm function. "Back-light alarm" means when measured noise exceeds the value you set, the backlight will flashing. Say you set 66dB as the threshold, when the sound exceeds 66dB, then the backlit will flashing. By the way, you can also disable the auto shutdown function, then sound meter can continuously reading sound until you turn it off by manual. Hope this information can help you.

Answer:	I wouldn't describe it as glossy... it's kind of the same finish that most caulk has. I wouldn't let that stop you buying it. This is the best caulk I've ever used. It's a little tricky to work with and you have to work fast because it's so tacky. Water just beads up on contact with it. It's definitely a waterproof seal. I'm buying more to do another job because I was so impressed. Hope this helps.

Question:	Does it do 120 -180db
Answer:	It's not entirely accurate to say that it will "melt," but not far off. This device has no battery to insert, but the tip is of a different metal from the long sleeve. Likely the sleeve is copper or brass (a copper alloy), and the tip is probably zinc. When placed in moist soil, the two metals form a difference in electrical potential, essentially a battery. The electrical potential will corrode, dissolving the zinc tip over time. The same mechanism is used in ships, rocks, and bridges: they attach replaceable zinc electrodes to the steel, to make the zinc corrode instead of the steel. If you leave this in the soil, the corroding zinc from the tip will be electrodeposited on the sleeve, reducing the electrical potential, and eventually making the current stop flowing. You will then have to rub the zinc off the sleeve to make the meter work again. Over time the zinc tip would disappear. So, the answer is NO, you can't leave it place. You should get a reading, then remove it from the soil and wipe it clean and dry each time. ...and now you know WHY you have to do it.
Question:	Is this unit self calibrating? Does it require any calibration
Answer:	Soil left on the probe has moisture and possible fertilizer mixed in and the instructions warn the probe must be wiped off after using the meter on your plants. Using steel wool will possibly bring back the shine to the probe but there's no way of telling if it's accurate.

Here is some notes for your reference, thanks! -Don't measure liquids especially water, it is only used to test the soil moisture. -Choose a soft soil, forbid to force the metal probe into the hard soil. -Please don't put the probe pen for a long time in the soil (no more than one hour), otherwise it will damage the pen. -Don't use the measuring pen near the magnetic material and away from other metal objects. -Don't hold the metal part of the measuring pen by hand. Fingerprints have grease that reduces the accuracy of their measurements. -Don't try to remove the metal tip of the tester. If the tip becomes loose, tighten it clockwise.

Answer:	the lowest reading I got is 35dba and this is accurate enough for my use. I needed it for measurements at 80 to 100 dba. I can not guarantee that my roos is absolutely quite or at 30dba. Maybe the $388 unit will do better and be more accurate. The $20 unit did just fine for me. Now is sitting lonely in the corner hopping for more use.

However, everyone has their own interpretation on what is "too loud." That is why I love the Yacker Tracker. You can adjust the switch to what volume it is that YOU want the siren to go off to. I know I had to adjust it a little because it would go off if someone sneezed or sharpened a pencil...It's easy to adjust (only a switch on the side of it) and it worked great in my Kindergarten class.
