The maximum is about 16 inches. The camera is on one end of a 16 1/2 foot semi-rigid cable. The power supply and wifi transmitter is attached to the other end of the cable. So, you could stick it down a 16 1/2 foot hole, then clearly view things between 2 1/2 inches and 16 inches in front of the camera. Does that explain it?

Question:	I just got this, and it said it was for iphone 6plus. the problem is i need an adapter that plugs into my phone and the camera
Answer:	The camera does NOT plug into your phone. The USB port is ONLY for charging/recharging the battery. The image from the camera transmits to your phone WIRELESSLY over WiFi. The camera has it’s own WiFi address and “transmitter” so once your camera batter is charged turn on the camera, go to Settings/WiFi on your iPhone and you should see an available WiFi connection for the camera. Select the WiFi connection for the camera to connect your phone to the camera and you should be in business. No adapter needed because you do not physically connect the camera to the phone.
