Answer:	You have to use the dovetails and the dove tail pin in order to hold the instrument. There is three spots on the indicator to mount the dovetail pin. The dial indicator pin can also move in order to reach a certain spit you are trying to dial in.

Answer:	As the previous poster said there is nothing on the tool or the case saying where it is made. I Googled "TÜRLEN" and came up with a town in Switzerland. But I would also guess China.
