Answer:	I believe that the knob under the dial is to allow calibration by moving the dail face. There is a knob at approximately the 1:30 position that allows you to lock a specific size in. You can't see the knob in Amazon's picture. I've taken a picture for you but I haven't been able to figure out how to paste it into this reply.
