11 best digital caliper with nibs
there isn't a widely recognized or common type of digital caliper specifically referred to as a "digital caliper with nibs." However, we can provide information on digital calipers in general, and if by "nibs" you mean additional features or accessories, it's possible to include attachments or accessories with digital calipers for specific applications. Here's a general overview:
Digital Calipers:
Digital Measurement: Digital calipers are precision measuring instruments used to measure the distance between two opposite sides of an object. They provide a digital readout of the measurement, offering high accuracy.
LCD Display: Digital calipers typically have a digital or LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen that shows the measured values. This digital readout eliminates the need for manual interpretation, reducing the chances of errors.
Metric and Imperial Units: Most digital calipers can display measurements in both metric and imperial units, providing versatility for users in different regions.
Zero Setting: Digital calipers often have a zero-setting function, allowing users to set the current position as zero for incremental measurements.
Depth Gauge and Step Measurements: Digital calipers may include a depth gauge for measuring the depth of holes or slots. Some models also have steps for measuring the height of steps or shoulders.
Material and Build: They are commonly made from stainless steel or other durable materials to ensure stability and accuracy. Some may have additional coatings for protection against corrosion.
Battery-Powered: Digital calipers are powered by batteries, usually watch batteries. The battery life can vary depending on usage and the specific model.
Locking Screw: Some digital calipers have a locking screw to secure the caliper jaws at a specific measurement, preventing accidental movement during readings.
Possible Interpretation of "Nibs":
If by "nibs" you mean additional features or accessories that could be associated with digital calipers, these might include:
Carbide Nibs: Some calipers may have carbide-tipped measuring surfaces for increased durability and resistance to wear.
Data Output: Advanced digital calipers might have features like data output, allowing measurements to be transferred to a computer or data collection device.
Jaw Extensions: Extensions or attachments that can be added to the caliper jaws for specialized measurements or access to hard-to-reach areas.
Specialized Tips: Calipers with interchangeable tips or nibs designed for specific applications, such as measuring grooves or recesses.
It's important to check the product specifications provided by the manufacturer to understand the specific features and accessories included with a digital caliper model. The availability of features can vary between different brands and models.

Question: | Does this come with calibration certificate |
Answer: | of course |
Product description
The Starrett 1025-6 stainless steel pocket slide caliper fits easily in a shop coat pocket and is precise to 1/64” for quick yet precise measurements. Readings are made directly from two lines marked “in” and “out” on one side of the caliper stock. The outside range is 0 to 4-3/4” while the inside range is 1/4 to 5”.
The back of the caliper stock has an inch scale to allow the caliper to be used as a steel rule as well, for easy and fast estimation of rough measurements. The knurled thumb piece activates the slide, while the slide stop prevents the tool from being disassembled. The clamp screw has a left-hand thread for easy one-hand operation. The jaws have a straight measuring surface for outside measurements and rounded nibs for inside and hole measurements. The jaws are 1-3/8” deep, while the closed nibs are 1/4” wide. The graduations on the stock are in 1/32” increments, while the graduations on the slide are in 1/32” and 1/64” increments.
Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, carpentry, and medicine. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The dial caliper is used also for measuring size differential between two objects. The digital caliper takes the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD (replacing the dial) that displays a single, easily read value in both English and metric units. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.
The L. S. Starrett Company was founded in 1880, originally manufacturing bench vises, squares, and other tools. They acquired other companies throughout the years, expanding their services into making precision measurement instruments and tools, such as calipers, micrometers, saw blades, and gauges. Starrett is headquartered in Athol, Massachusetts and they have manufacturing facilities in Brazil, the United Kingdom, China, and other locations.

User questions & answers
Question: | can i use this to measure screws? i mixed up a bunch of screws in a bag and have no idea what size is which |
Answer: | Yes, you can use this device to measure screws. You can check both the diameter of a screw and its length. You should know that some U.S. diameters are not given in ordinary length units. For example, sizes 6, 8 and 10. In order to classify the unknown screws, you could just get some known screws, measure them and write down the diameter of each of the known diameters, then compare the unknown ones with the figures you wrote down. On the other hand, length of screws in the U.S. always seem to be measured in inches, so you can set the caliper to read out in inches. You will have to translate, for example, 1.500 inches to 1-1/2 inches. However, the decimal numbers are seldom exactly what you expect. You have to assume that the numbers might vary by up to about 1/64 inch (about 0.016 inch). |
Question: | are these tips hardened? Thanks |
Answer: | Yes, the tips are hardened so they don't flex and dull out. |
Question: | What kind of batteries do these calipers use |
Answer: | Copy and paste this - 50 357 Alkaline Watch Batteries LR44 AG13 SR44W Battery - for a lot of 50 battery cells that work for this Caliper. |
Question: | Does this item come pre-calibrated? Will you be able to provide document on the calibration |
Answer: | You cannot trace the calibration back to the NIST. If you crave calibration, then calibrate it yourself against a calibrated set of gages. You can't buy calibration for this price range. |
