This kit is very useful for reflection, refraction, and color mixing experiments. The light box consists of a light source 12 V, 24 W lamp, producing convergent, divergent or parallel beam. On one end, an adjustable cylindrical convex lens (for parallel beam) and on the other end, a triple aperture system for color mixing experiments (lateral aperture are provided with adjustable hinged mirror). All apertures in the box are provided with vertical channels to hold slit plates and color filters. The optical set includes acrylic blocks, set of three mirrors, 2 slit black plates, one with three narrow slits at one end and one narrow slit at the other end. Another black plate with four narrow slits at one end, one wide slit at the other end and set of seven mounted color filters. Supplied with working instructions.

Answer: A monoscope was a kind of tv pattern generator used to tune a tv system 30 years ago, so they don't. If you mean a telescope, you could place two of this lenses in a tube about 28 inch apart, with a magnification of about 2.5, so it just work as a demo, not a practical telescope.

Answer: These are made of flint glass. Dense flint glass has a reflective index of 1.655, noticeably better than 'regular' common glass, which is a bit less than 1.5. If you need more refraction in your application you can use 2 or 3 of these prisms arranged so that the light beam is made to pass into multiple prisms in sequence. Separate the prisms from each other, do not butt them against each other.

Answer: Most modern flashlights don't actually produce every color of light, in order to make them more energy efficient. The exception is old fashioned, cheap incandescent.

Answer: There is no lead in the optical glass we use for our prisms.

Answer: It is not Christmas yet, so therefore it hasn't been opened or used. Ask me after Christmas.

Use a white paper or canvas and tack it to a wall across a room from a sunny window or a flashlight if there are no windows available. Make sure the canvas or paper is flat and smooth. Hold your prism in front of the background. Make sure to catch the light from the window. If using a flashlight, hold the prism in your non-dominant hand and the flashlight in your dominant hand. Turn on the flashlight and hold the prism in the light. Continue to twist and turn your prism in the light source until a corner of the triangle falls into the light beam.
