User questions & answers
Question: | is it 3" total, or is is 3" for the foam part, then the silicone edging to stick down |
Answer: | This is a unique , waterproof, at least in a shower. Have no idea of its ability in a pool. You can put this dressing on and leave in place for 3 to 4 days. I keep two sizes. 3x3 and 4x4. Pricey but a great product. No bandage skin burn. Very gentle on the skin. It has about a 1/2 inch silicon edge. |
Question: | Is this product latex free |
Answer: | Optician Adhesive Foam Wound Dressing Midline 4x4 - MSC1044EP Says “Latex Free” on the packaging I no longer have the one listed above. |
Question: | How many dressings are included or boxes |
Answer: | That information is included with the purchase ad. Some may only have 5 some have 10. It isn't cheap but you can wear same bandage for several days and they are mostly waterproof for taking showers. Not in a swimming pool. It is a great bandage for anyone with tender skin. |
Question: | How do these compare to Mepilex? I see the price difference, but are they the similar magic solution our doctor recommended for serious bed sores |
Answer: | I have used both of them and still do. I got the Optifoam because of the price and I found they worked fine. They stay on in the shower, etc. The only thing is the difference in the surrounding fabric - the Optifoam is more plastic and maybe a little less pliable so the decision on which one to use depends on the location of the wound. If it's hard to get at and I need more flexibility I use the original mepilex - if it's a fairly flat area and won't have much friction I use the optifoam. If you can I would get both in the beginning and see which works for you - but they do work. |

CURAD GERM SHIELD gel is your first line of defense when it comes to infection prevention. This gel effectively kills bacteria like MRSA, E. Coli, Staph – as well as fungus and yeast. Wound infection not only slows the healing process, but can lead to more serious, even life threatening, conditions. The GERM SHIELD Gel active ingredient, antimicrobial silver, is effective up to 3 days and is not prone to bacterial resistance from so called “super germs.” The water-based gel is non-stinging, non-staining and helps create an optimal healing environment for minor cuts, scrapes, blisters and burns.

User questions & answers
Question: | this is silver nitrates |
Answer: | It does have some silver nitrate, however the active ingredient is Silver Chloride 0.0055% (55 ppm). Inactive ingredients are: Carbomer, Glycerine, Silver Nitrate, Sodium Chloride, Triethanolamine, Water. FYI - I haven't used this product in a while as I switched to ASAP Silver Gel (Amazon ASIN B00854JXVK) as it is much cheaper and just as effective for me. I use it to treat cuts & scratches as I am allergic to neosporin. Curad product worked good as well. |
Question: | Can this be used on a small tunnel wound (approx. 2 cm deep) ? Does the gel turn thick or more liquid like after a few days |
Answer: | Yes, this wound gel is better than anything I've ever used over the counter. Keeping the wound clean with hydrogen perox, then apply to wound, and cover twice a day will heal that wound for sure. I found better results keeping the wound covered, heals faster as it closes up. It's a gel, and will not turn thick, the wound will absorb the gel. Use a Q-tip to get the gel into the wound after you clean it, then cover with sterilized bandage. you should see great results in 2-3 days. I hope that helps you. |
Question: | Will this kill staph |
Answer: | Read all the added notes under the product. We purchased it bc it has silver, among other healing ingredients. It worked well on a small rash our grandchild had on her face. I would recommend. |
Question: | Does this product work without using a band-aid to cover it? I have a rash on the side of my face where it would be hard to wear a bandage |
Answer: | YES! It is 99 % clear. It has a slight silver tint to it that no one would notice. By the way, silver is the only substance that kills 99 % plus bacterial & virus infections. There is a product that is called Silverdene, it is used in the medical industry to fight infections on burn victims, but that has a higher concentration of silver in it and it has more of a white in color with a silver tint. Hope this helps. |
Product features
Curad Germ Shield Antimicrobial Gel
Once an infection occurs, it can slow or stop healing, cause scarring, and even develop into more serious conditions like sepsis, a serious blood infection. Cleaning wounds thoroughly and keeping them clean and germ-free is vital in helping heal quickly, completely, without complications.
Curad germ shield gel contains an ionized silver antimicrobial. That means, in addition to bacteria, it also kills other pathogens like fungI and yeast.
Curad germ shield gel also shows no signs of susceptibility to bacterial resistance and keeps working up to 3 days. That helps provide more germ protection with fewer applications.
Unique Germ Killer
Antimicrobial microscopic silver particles are effective against germs, including staph, MRSA and e. Coli.
Non-Stinging, Non-Staining
Water-based gel is gentle and provides moisture to the wound to help maintain an optimal healing environment.
Lasting Effectiveness
Germ killing action lasts up to 3 days.

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is a roll of size F? I want to cut it to lenght and make socks wondering how many I can get for the price |
Answer: | The rolls are supposed to be 11 yards long, If you want socks that run from the middle of your foot (the arch to just under the knee (so they don't keep creeping up your leg from the ankle) you will need to cut each one about 18 inches (+/- 1 inch) long. i.e. 1/2 a yard - so you should get 20 to 22 'socks' out of 11 yards - i.e. 10 pair! |
Question: | How do you know what size for an extremely large thigh |
Answer: | Size G. I have lymphedema and this size works well. Thay may even make larger.sizes. the higher up the alphabet, the larger the size. It's a decent amount of pressure and alth: |
Question: | How do you determine the size to purchase |
Answer: | From the Medline website: https://www.medline.com/product/Medigrip-Elasticated-Tubular-Support-Bandage/Z05-PF00084 Size A measures 1-3/4"W (4.5 cm) for infant feet and arms; Size B measures 2-1/2"W (6.3 cm) for small hands and limbs; Size C measures 2-5/8"W (6.8 cm) for adult hands, arms or legs; Size D measures 3"W (7.5 cm) for large arms or legs; Size E measures 3-1/2"W (8.75 cm) for legs or small thighs; Size F measures 4"W (10 cm) for large knees or thighs; Size G measures 4-3/4"W (12 cm) for large thighs |
Question: | What are the mmhg compression ratings of the size g - msc9506 and size f - msc9505 tubular compression hose materials |
