Question: What is the actual size?...Anybody counter sink these with forstner bit?...If so, what size bit?..Thanks
Answer: I used a 1.25" forstner bit and it was a fraction too small. Had to carve them out a bit too get the magnets to fit. These claim they're 1.26" in diameter and i believe that's accurate.
Question: Is there a trick for separating them? I struggle to pull them apart
Answer: I found sliding them off one at a time works best. Once you slide one off the top a couple of centimeters, you can separate them by pushing a thin piece of plastic between them - like a guitar pick or a tiddlywink.
Question: Will they work with a 1inch piece of wood between them
Answer: magnetic force dies off at the rate of about 1/r with r raised to the 4th power so the greater the 'r', the distance to the item attracted, then the attraction is reduced by a huge amount... Hold two magnets an inch apart and feel how week the force is between them, either attractive or repulsive, then try bringing them within an 8th of an inch of each other and see how the force increases!
Question: Do they stand up to heat
Answer: I use Neos on oil filters without a problem. Any fine ferrous material in the oil stops there. I use 1" dia x 1/2 thick 45lb pull Neos. (Strong enough to put on a closed steel tool box and pull tools to the top from the top tray inside the tool box.) No noticeable degradation in strength over 30,000 miles (car) 25,000 miles (water cooled motorcycle). As for actual temp, I would suspect much higher temp than what I run them at (180F or so), they would begin to lose their magic.

Question: How did they do on magnetic paint
Answer: They are super strong and stick to just about anything - even THROUGH the box. If you are looking for magnets for kids/classrooms, find something less intense. I have to store these in the styrofoam casing and box they came in and stuff STILL sticks to them. They have a special place in my house so they won't interfere with electronics because they are STRONG. But yeah, should be great on magnetic paint. But they are VERY thin and break easily

Answer: It depends on many factors, like the metal the shelf is made of, and how heavy the curtains are. I believe these magnets could probably manage it as long as the shelf isn’t super skinny materials or aluminum. The I find the name of these magnets to be accurate. They are pretty powerful and can probably do the job.
Question: What grade are these magnets? They don't seem strong enough to be n52, and the grade is conveniently left out of the description
Answer: Hmmm, I’m pretty sure that these are N52. Just keep in mind that one disk is not big, so it’s magnetic field will be relatively small. If you combine the disks without any spacers, you will see the force greatly increases to what I believe is appropriate for N52. I have never measured the grade of a magnet, but I know that these are not weak compared to toy magnets.
Question: Has anyone that purchased these used them for diy spice jars? (specifically, is the strength appropriate? ie: not too strong or too weak
Answer: I am going to use these for this purpose. Here's why: a standard ceramic magnet can stick to another magnet with a pretty strong pull, but on a metal surface it is much weaker. These are VERY difficult to pull away from each other, but I imagine it will be much easier to pull a spice jar off the fridge, since the fridge is not a magnet. They also provide enough strength that I am not concerned about a glass spice jar falling off the fridge.

These are strong magnets, but likely not strong enough to make up the difference for good fitment on a socket/ratchet connection if we're talking about, say, auto mechanic work.

Question: How many pounds of pull do these magnets have
Answer: I did not do a pounds of pull test on these but they are very strong. (DO NOT GET YOUR FINGERS BETWEEN THEM) they are strong enough that if you put one on a steel plate you better be able to slide it off the end or you will have problems getting it off. I can not remove them by hand pulling straight up. Also they work great when put inside a plastic or UHMW sleeve or pocket. I did this after breaking one of them when I let them get to close on my work station and they went together and broke one of them.(very strong But very brittle) Have not had any more breakage problem since boring out a plastic sleeve and putting them in the cup. (epoxy them in)

Answer: Ha! Very carefully! I used a thin piece of plastic to wedge between the two then slide them apart. You need to slide them apart as you'll never be able to pull them apart. Just be careful as they will snap back together with force or find the nearest piece of metal to attach to. Once you get them apart though they are great!

Answer: If it's truly N52, then the max pull force is 134.4 lbs (~60kg). That would be a magnet against another magnet, or a magnet against a thick steel beam. 2. Once off thestack,carefully start lifting the magnet.

3. Lift the magnet to free it from the stack.

INCORRECT

1. DO NOT attempt to pull, lift, or pry amagnet from the stack before sliding it to the side.

2. DO NOT throw away the white storage spacers.

3. DO NOT allow the magnets to snap to each other or any magnetic surface. doing so may cause magnets to break!

Answer: These are not traditional bar magnets with opposite poles on the ends of the magnets. The poles are across the center from the short surface (1/2" surface). How they were able to manufacture these magnets is a mystery, and why they chose to do so is even a greater one. I applied these with the adhesive strips to the inside of a stainless table top and use them to attach my griddle tools to the outside of the table top.

Answer: You can glue the metal portion or screw them to the wood, but if you try to pull them from the metal insert they will shatter. You can buy them on amazon without as just the magnet. No metal insert

Question: is it less stronger (in force) than your 3mm-mix
Answer: It's very much the same, but... the quality is not good. These magnets are built very cheaply and disintegrate very easily. Almost like chalky candy, that's how brittle they are. Would not recommend, especially if you have young children around that could play with these or have them break and then risk the chance of swallowing them. Not good.
Question: The kit form of many sizes is very valuable. Do you sell a kit version for bar magnets
Answer: These may be good in various sizes, but are built very cheap and break easily. Unless you have some sort of plastic film protector that will cover these things. Otherwise, these will not hold up very long, the magnetic compass are great, but the cheaply made product creates more concern then practical application.
Question: What is the flux between the magnets
Answer: I never heard of magnet flux. So I Googled it. I’m not sure if I understand if it is the distance at which the magnets begin to attract or a measurement of the force of attraction. What do know is they are only half as strong as the version Home Depot sells. Went to use these for car audio trim panels and they worked terrible. Had to make another panel and use HDs version.

Question: Will this product work inside of a bbq grill? It will be experiencing temperatures of around 400F
Answer: I think it won't work under such high temperatures, because in the opposite side of the hook, there is some kind of plastic/hard silicona gasket (or similar) that "holds" the magnet in place even if you don't screw in the bolt and metal hook. Besides that, I think this kind of rare earth magnets can "suffer" hight temperatures. I'd check it on google. That's my opinion, but couldn't tell for sure. Hope it helps!
