Answer:	Probably not. They have to be within a quarter inch or so of each other or some ferrous metal to hold very strongly. I use them to hold down some canvass material against a metal rail but I have to use one disc every foot or so.

Answer:	These magnets are pretty powerful and should hold a shower curtain in place provided that the tub enclosure has an iron or steel core. Of course, if the wind is strong enough, nothing will hold it in place!

Answer:	I use these to make polymer clay fridge magnets and the work very well for that purpose. I have not noticed any black soot issues. For something with any weight, I would suggest looking into neodynium magnets with hooks that have rated weights, e.g., 25, 50 lbs etc...

Answer:	Probably, but I would use more simply because of how paper acts. I have a slightly larger than average 'poster sized' calendar on my basement fridge, it is a slick surface and the paper is semi-gloss, so there are a half dozen or so holding it in place because everything is so slippery. *Great magnets though.

If so, you'd simply need to magnetize the socket; however, if neither end of the connection is magnetic, you'd need to insert a magnet into both, keeping in mind how this would compromise the fitment of the socket onto your extension, causing the possibility of it falling off while in use. These are strong magnets, but likely not strong enough to make up the difference for good fitment on a socket/ratchet connection if we're talking about, say, auto mechanic work.

Answer:	Horrible scratching from some but not all of the magnets. The magnet its self shouldnt scratch, but some are set in so as the steel contacts the surface. Use caution.

Question:	What is the actual size?...Anybody counter sink these with forstner bit?...If so, what size bit?..Thanks
Answer:	I used a 1.25" forstner bit and it was a fraction too small. Had to carve them out a bit too get the magnets to fit. These claim they're 1.26" in diameter and i believe that's accurate.
Question:	Is there a trick for separating them? I struggle to pull them apart
Answer:	I found sliding them off one at a time works best. Once you slide one off the top a couple of centimeters, you can separate them by pushing a thin piece of plastic between them - like a guitar pick or a tiddlywink.
Question:	Will they work with a 1inch piece of wood between them
Answer:	magnetic force dies off at the rate of about 1/r with r raised to the 4th power so the greater the 'r', the distance to the item attracted, then the attraction is reduced by a huge amount... Hold two magnets an inch apart and feel how week the force is between them, either attractive or repulsive, then try bringing them within an 8th of an inch of each other and see how the force increases!

Answer:	I use Neos on oil filters without a problem. Any fine ferrous material in the oil stops there. I use 1" dia x 1/2 thick 45lb pull Neos. (Strong enough to put on a closed steel tool box and pull tools to the top from the top tray inside the tool box.) No noticeable degradation in strength over 30,000 miles (car) 25,000 miles (water cooled motorcycle). As for actual temp, I would suspect much higher temp than what I run them at (180F or so), they would begin to lose their magic.

1.Slide one magnet off the top of the stack.

2.Once off the stack, carefully start lifting the magnet.

3.Lift the magnet to free it from the stack.

INCORRECT:

Question:	do they scratch refrigerator surface
Answer:	I use mine at work in my cubical. They are standard magnets on the back and clear glass squares with paint or colored paper underneath to make them look pretty. I REALLY like them as they have a strong hold, but since my cubical walls are material over metal, I can't directly answer your question. Sorry not to be of much help here.
