Answer:	The screw embeds about 1/2". These are super strong magnets. Using epoxy and the screw together might help. They were too strong for my application.

If I understand correctly (Google "acronym moe") it stands for MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detect Detection) Operational Effectiveness, which has to do with the effectiveness of a "magnetic anomaly detector" (see Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_anomaly_detector). It appears that the unit MOE has nothing to do with magnetic strength or magnetic flux density which would be relevant to these Neodymium magnets, and whose strengths would be measured in units of Gauss, Teslas, Webers etc.

Answer:	These are very strong magnets from both sides. If allowed to join together they are difficult to separate. They are only countersunk on one side (same).For my application I bought both a N and S set.
Question:	Can I enlarge the hole to 1/4 by drilling it out
Answer:	Please check if high heat produced during drilling will demagnetize it. Apart from that, I can vouch on the strength of these magnets. I pinched the skin of my finger between these beasts and had a mark and pain for next three days. Had to use edge slip method to take these apart.

It is also used in the fabrication industry to image the internal defect of a steel part combined with an X-Ray machine. Encased within the green film are millions of nano size magnet particles which can turn freely when close to a steel object or a permanent magnet. When the magnet particles change their orientations, the reflection rate to the light will also change so to show the magnetic field beneath it. This is why the film will change shades when a magnetic field is applied. The film turns darker when the magnetic field lines are perpendicular to the surface, and lighter when the field lines are horizontal, i.e., across the surface. Answer:	Its like a liquid crystal sheet. The magnetic image goes away; yet there is a slight memory in the picture. As soon as you bring it up to another magnet, that "ghost image" of the prior viewing goes away.This is very amazing stuff. You can really see a 3D structure of the field as you move close and away from your magnet source.One drawback is gauss responsivity. In other words, I dont thing fields below say 10 guass respond on the film. I will test this later.

Answer:	An adhesive to holds the magnet in the channel. If not, then the magnet might follow the second metal surface when they separate, leaving only the empty channel mounted on the first surface. You can separate the magnet from the channel, however, by sliding a small flat-bade screwdriver between the magnet and the channel, then use a bit of alcohol to clean off the adhesive. Remember that the magnet without the channel is brittle and may break as you remove it.

Answer:	I haven't tried, but it probably isn't a good idea. Neodymium magnets are fairly fragile, and the channel helps protect it and "focuses" the magnetic field lines, making the magnet stronger than it would be if removed. If you have a specific purpose for a neodymium magnet in that size/shape, you can probably find one that will fit your needs. Hope this helped!

The magnet pull force is tested in a standard settings, it has to be direct touch and direct pull from a 20 mm thick low carbon steel. This is industrial standard so magnets from different sources are comparable. Most home testing cannot meet this requirement and the testing result is less.

Answer:	magnets attract materials that are iron based, if there is a rock with a magnetic flux they will attract each other. If you drag a magnet on soil you will find that it will attract the iron based materials (mostly in a powder form). I'm not really sure what you are asking, I hope this information is helpful.

Question:	Could these be used on leather? I have a leather couch and the cushions keep slipping out of place
Answer:	It has the capacity to do that, yes, but it wouldn't work all to well if you have little kids, as they may have the ability to tear the cushions off. But the magnets are VERY strong and should work just fine, be careful though, they can hurt you by pinching (its happened to me over 5 times already!).
