Question:	Jack won't come down
Answer:	Bob- I'm assuming you mean the model number for the motor, not the entire pump. The motor I replaced had a model number of C48L2N134B1, and said Hayward Super Pump on the label, but in my opinion (which added to $1.00 will get you a cup of coffee) I'd be less concerned with the model number and more concerned with the specs. (1.5 HP, 3450 RPM, single phase, 115V/230V, 60 Hz, Max Load 18.6/9.3 Amps. Since the AO Smith motors are now being produced as "Century--formerly AO Smith", the model numbers most likely have changed. Disclaimer: I'm no expert on pool pumps. That being said, here's what I learned through my Hayward pump motor replacement experience: First, there's a lot of commonality between these pumps; Second, after looking at all the reviews, this motor seems to work/fit most of the time; Third, for the money (about half of what you'll pay at a local shop), I'd give it a shot; Fourth, check out the how-to videos on youtube and responses to the online questions on Amazon; Fifth, don't downsize your motor to save electricity unless you plan on changing the entire pump because the impeller must match the horsepower rating of the motor you're using--if you're replacing just the motor and it's a 1.5 HP, be sure to replace it with a 1.5 HP motor; Sixth, if you have basic mechanical ability, you can figure this out and do this repair yourself; Seventh, get the gasket/seal kit along with the motor; Eighth, match the voltage setting on the motor to your particular wiring setup, i.e. if you're using 115 volts, make sure the motor is set to 115. The motor is factory set to 230 volts, so when you pull the end cover to make your connections, adjust the voltage setting if necessary by rotating the switch. If you try to run the motor on 115 volts with the switch set to 230, it will start, run for a short time, then start/stop every five seconds to get your attention before it burns up. Additionally, I've seen comments about the motor running hot. A little online research revealed the typical operating temperature is the ambient temperature plus 65 degrees Fahrenheit. That's going to feel hot to the touch, but is within normal range. Sorry I couldn't answer your specific questions, but I hope this helps.

Answer:	It would fit physically but this kit is for a 1 HP motor. I think it would overload the motor...my opinion. You can check Hayward tech support. I used a 1hp motor and it loads it to full amp capacity.

Answer:	Neighbor ... sounds like you are a newbie. We were all that, once. The handle fits over the operating valve and piston action depends on whether it is open or not. Twist clockwise to close and pump .... the piston goes up. Twist counterclockwise to open and the piston retracts .... if, there is sufficient weight on it or it has a spring to retract the piston. The large screw in the top is manually adjusted out or in. Please remember that this unit isn't reliable enough for you to get under the car after you have lifted it. Jack stands are needed and you must be certain that the car cannot move. That means emergency brake set and wheel chocks are needed. Sorry if I got too specific or described things you already knew. Just tryin' to be a good neighbor .... ron :-)

Answer:	The top of the ram IS 1.084", (NOT 1 and 1/8 inches). The cylinder raising that top IS 1.1 inches (NOT slightly wider at 1.25 inches). The base of the unit is roughly IS 3.7" x 3.85 " (NOT 3.5" x 4.5") and IS approximately 7" (NOT 9") tall before raising ram.

Answer:	The main part of the base is 5.75” wide. However with the pump it is 6.5”. It is 6” front to back.

Answer:	I have a similar jack used as the power ram for a press. I mounted it right side up and let the ram push against the top bar of the press frame and let the body of the jack rest on the movable press part. If you search for "hydraulic press" and get pictures of the smaller "home shop" style presses, you can see many that are set up that way. Mine works really well. Keeps the cost down because you can use an inexpensive bottle jack like this one rather than a purpose built hydraulic ram made to work inverted.

Answer:	I have worked in the building industry for many years and have used these jacks to fix sagging floors many times, but these are not meant to be a permanent fixture. After time they are likely to fail and cause bigger problems than you have now. In your situation I would call a foundation specialist to restore the foundation. One of the issues is that the concrete in your basement floor is not thick enough to hold the weight for a long period, and when it cracks it will cause these to lean or fall completely which will cause them to fail. Columns, or supports need to have a footer poured under them to hold that much weight for a long period of time. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Answer:	On the akron website and on the c-4 adjustable floor jack box itself it says the range is lowest 12" to 15" highest. I see comments that say it has a 6" range but that would not be correct for this jack and if installed to that extension would probably not be safe. That said akron does sell a large variety of adjustable floor jacks with a range of extensions. I bought this one because I had a space of about 13" that needed to go up only slightly to level out the floor.

Answer:	The bolt hole spacing on the bottom plate is 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" on centers. The holes are a little elongated, so the bolt locations you drill do not have to be exactly on center. The jack is designed to go on the bottom of a 4 x4; unless you know a lot about mechanical engineering, I would not use it upside down-

Answer:	The holes in the base would allow for your securing the bast to the concrete floor with for example Red Head 1/2 2 3/4 expansion anchors or whatever the application would call for with your concrete.

In addition to the normal lifting height, the jack has a small section to adjust the height of 2.36 inches (black part at the top). Self Height 6.5" + Lift Height 7.68" + Adjust Height 2.36"= Total Height 16.54"

Answer:	The ram-bore is 1-5/8", and the FOOT on top is 1-1/2" at the adjustable screw top.

Answer:	Hydraulic jack would be best suited for heavy lifts. Then this lally column can be placed under the beam and fine adjustments can be made.

Answer:	I’d consider that a “typo” or something due to regulatory concerns. I’ve had mine for two years and it hasn’t loosened or worn. It is a good idea to check the jack periodically.
