9 best lab gas tight syringes

Gas-tight syringes are essential laboratory tools used for precise and controlled liquid sample handling, particularly in analytical chemistry and scientific research. Here's what you need to know about lab gas-tight syringes:

  1. Purpose: Gas-tight syringes are primarily designed to withdraw and dispense liquid samples with high precision, especially in applications where the sample volume must be accurately measured or when dealing with volatile or sensitive substances.

  2. Construction: These syringes are typically made of high-quality materials, such as borosilicate glass or stainless steel, to ensure chemical compatibility and durability. They are designed to be airtight, preventing gas or liquid leakage.

  3. Applications: Gas-tight syringes find applications in various fields, including analytical chemistry, chromatography, environmental analysis, pharmaceutical research, and more. They are commonly used for injecting samples into gas chromatographs, liquid chromatographs, and other analytical instruments.

  4. Accuracy: Gas-tight syringes are known for their high accuracy and precision. They are available in various sizes, with different volume capacities, to accommodate a wide range of sample sizes.

  5. Needle Compatibility: These syringes are often equipped with a needle or a needle adapter, allowing for controlled and accurate injections into specific sample containers or instruments.

  6. Gas-Tight Seal: The key feature of gas-tight syringes is their ability to create a hermetic seal, preventing the escape of gas or vapor from the syringe during the sample handling process. This is particularly important when dealing with volatile compounds.

  7. Ergonomics: Many gas-tight syringes are designed with ergonomic features such as finger grips or plunger stops, making them comfortable to use and ensuring precise control over the sample volume.

  8. Cleaning and Maintenance: Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure the longevity and accuracy of gas-tight syringes. They should be rinsed with an appropriate solvent after each use and stored carefully to prevent damage.

  9. Safety: When working with gas-tight syringes, it's important to follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment, especially when handling hazardous or toxic substances.

  10. Calibration: Periodic calibration and verification of gas-tight syringes may be necessary to ensure their accuracy. Some laboratories have dedicated calibration procedures in place.

In summary, gas-tight syringes are vital tools in laboratory settings where precise and controlled sample handling is required. Their gas-tight seal, accuracy, and compatibility with various applications make them valuable assets in analytical chemistry and scientific research. Proper care and maintenance are crucial to ensure their continued reliability.

User questions & answers

Question: can the syringe add oil to a motorcycle
Answer: While I've only used it with syringes, I have in the past used ultra fine pen needles and can't imagine why it wouldn't work with those, too. It's quite a nifty little device and definitely one of the less expensive and easier options for safe disposal.
Question: Is this product easy to use
Answer: The box reads: "Device can be used with 28G through 32G needles." I personally use 32G needles so I know that it works with that size.
Question: What is outside diameter of the tubing
Answer: Clip the needle the syringe goes in the garbage. So far have not filled up the needle holder. Once that is full take to your dr office and they will discard in their bin.
Question: Is this marked in both ml and oz
Answer: My needles are 5/16 of an inch and it cuts them almost all the way off. So I imagine using this with 1-inch needles would definitely cut off the tip and more but leave quite a bit of the needle remaining. It works well and is very easy to use

User questions & answers

Question: Is the needle removeable
Answer: *Not intended for use with lancets. This is for syringes and pen needles. Usually lancets are pushed back into the cap. Hope this helps!
Question: What is the gauge of the needle attached
Answer: yes, but the first few years I used the device it clipped needles, pen needles and lancets perfectly. however the last 5 or 6 I bought only bent the needle instead of clipping. I have no idea what was wrong. I did not contact BD. My fault.
