To maintain the accuracy, it's better to rinse the probe with distilled water after each use. For your mentioned distilled water, it should read 0 ppm theoretically, but in actual application, if you can't keep test condition very clean, it may read 0-2ppm usually.

Answer:	The soil ph value on the meter dial ranges from 1 to 10 (1-3 dry, 4-7 normal, 8-10 wet). If your plant is very dry, the pointer of the soil meter will not swing or swing slightly. Answer:	No, it test for TDS in PPM (parts per million). The reading is taken from the EC reading and converted within the unit to TDS. This is the accumulation of all dissolved solids in your water. But what conversion factor is used by this company? A 5.0 conversion will have different reading than one with a 7.1 conversion factor. Makes a difference. Learning to read EC is best option along with a tester that reads EC and PPM. No calibration on some. To test your pH you can use the paper strips, General Hydroponics sells a pH Test Kit that includes testing solution along with pH Up and pH down for adjusting your pH to your requirements if you are into gardening. Very fast and easy to use. There are a number of pH test pens on the market. Most need calibration and calibration solutions that is a consumable. There are different calibration factors on these as well. But easier to use and more accurate once you learn it.
Question:	At what reading should the filter/cartridge be changed
Answer:	Your filter and cartridge should be change every 30 days , if your ppm reading over 300 you may need do some water change , also test for nitrite , nitrate and ammonia . under 300 ppm you are OK , should be around 150 ppm to 250 ppm , but not over 400 ppm . usually do 10% water change every month or twice a month depend on how many fishes or shrimps you have. Question:	Is there a minimum amount of water that can be tested
Answer:	I just put some water in a cup and put end of TDS gauge in, no more than inch. By the way, the best water will test 0. I use a zero water pitcher. I use this to check if new filter is needed. I hope this helped you.
Question:	What is the accuracy of this tester
Answer:	Can’t say for sure. Howerver, the first time I used it, the number I was getting from an old RO membrane were 350ish. I thought for sure the meter was in error. I then opened a bottle of filtered water and tested that. The bottled water reading was 12 so I think the meter is very accurate. I have since replaced the RO membrane and my numbers are in the high 20s to low 30s. I hope this helps. I would highly recommend this tester - it’s a great buy.

Calibration:

1. Turn on the pH meter.

2. Dissolve each buffer solution in 250 ml of distilled water.

Answer:	The TDS is basically a hardness tester. It test other stuff as well. but the way this thing works is if the tds is close to 0 (that is distilled, rain or Reverse osmosis water). If the tds is higher it does not mean your tank is dying, like lets say 500. Some things will die to hardness this high , such as cardinal tetras. It also can be other things in the water as well, such as excess amonia and other things. If we get an overall basis for what our tds should be in the fish tank, we can uutilize this tool in the tank as a gauge to see if we need a water change. I keep my tank around 150-200 parts per million (ppm). which is also classified as total disolved solids (tds). If you do have a high number (again it doesnt mean things are dying) but it is an negative indidcator for freshwater fish.

Answer:	All of our TDS Meter was calibrated by high accuracy equipment before selling and it doesn't need calibration when using. In this case, we don't suggest to reference to testing liquid to calibrate as there are so many uncertain factors affecting the result.

What impurities can it reflect in the water?

It can reflect three impurities in the water，concentrations of Ca2+ Mg+ Na+ K+, concentrations of nitrous acid and organic matter, concentration of harmful heavy metal such as Cr+ Pb+.When the TDS test value is high, it indicates that at least one content exceeds the standard. When the TDS test value is too high, it indicates that at least one content exceeds the standard.

Answer:	No. I assume you are interested in testing sodium levels? You can calculate that by the sodium level on the label. TDS is not the same as sodium analysis. Answer:	Hi, Dean!Thanks for reaching out. We know how sometimes those terms and water chemistry can be confusing. So what does a TDS meter detect?The term TDS, total dissolved solids, is slightly misleading. Not everything that is dissolved in water will be detected by a TDS meter. Only ions that have a charge can be measured with this technology. Pesticides and organic pollutants cannot be detected by a TDS meter. About AMMONIA - Science alert!The TDS meter will detect the ammonium in the water, but it is not possible to use TDS in place of a real ammonia test kit.Ammonia exists in two forms at the same time. Ammonia is NH3 and has no charge. Ammonium is NH4+ and has a charge. In water both forms of "ammonia" are present. Test strips measure both forms and report the level as a sum of both. Some kits call it Total Ammonia and some just call it ammonia. The test kits cannot distinguish between the two-the kits just total it up. I can explain how they do that but not in this message :)In acidic water nearly all of the "ammonia" is in the ammonium form. As the pH rises, some of the ammonium shifts to ammonia. There is a ratio of ammonia to ammonium, depending on the pH of the water. If you have an aquarium, you should be using an ammonia test kit made for aquariums.Hope this helps!
