With regular use, Pool Mate Metal Out is ideal for controlling general stains and helps maintain a sparkling clean pool. This product helps prevent discoloration of pool water due to iron, calcium, manganese, copper and other metals and minerals which may be present in the water supply. This product is an excellent general purpose sequestrant which helps protect plumbing and pool walls from rust, stain and scale. It should be used for all pool openings and closings and throughout the season as needed. For initial filling of pool, if iron or other metallic contaminants are suspected, add one quart of this product for each 10,000 gallons of pool water. Add this product while the pool is being filled and before chlorine is added. To correct an existing colored water problem due to the presence of minerals in the pool water, first close the pool to all swimmers. Leave the filter pump running. Stop chlorinating the pool and allow the chlorine level to drop to zero. Lower the pH of the pool water to 6.8 with a pH decreaser. Lowering the pH will redissolve the metallic impurities. Add one quart of this product per 10,000 gallons of water and allow the pool water to circulate overnight, or until the water is clear. Readjust the pH of the pool water between 7.2 to 7.8 with a pH Increaser. Begin normal chlorination and pool operation. Swimming may resume when chlorine residual is 1.0 to 3.0 ppm. To make up for loss of this product due to backwashing and/or splash-out, add one quart of this product for each 20,000 gallons of pool water, once each month.

| Answer: | This is cotton wadding that has been treated with some oil based solvent (something like WD-40?) I once got a can of this in a grocery store auto section but it was dried out and it is useless then. It will turn black as it removes the oxidation but just keep re-folding it to expose clean areas. You can get a lot of mileage out of this stuff. I'm a fan and have used it mostly on chrome. It will also take dried tar of non-ferrous metals . I did use it on old alloy wheels - mostly aluminum, right? - and they went from dull grey to reflecting my hand almost like chrome. I keep Q-Tips in the can and they absorb some of the solvent for use in small areas. But I think the shining effect is less dramatic when the surface is not really smooth to start with - like screen door frames. My alloy wheels probably came out of the factory buffed and smooth as a baby's butt. It is a lot of manual rubbing tho. It dries to a white residue then comes off easily with terrycloth. You'll probably want to wear gloves cause it's oily but not caustic in any way. |

When Adam’s Iron Remover hits your paint, it loosens up these particles and allows you to easily and safely rinse them off.
Ready-To-Use Formula - No Diluting Necessary
This product is formulated to the exact concentration that allows it to attack all surface contaminants without harming your paint. The chemical formula is powerful, it will target & remove all iron particles. After a couple of minutes, the paint will start to “bleed” purple – this is a good thing, showing that the chemical is hard at work removing any embedded contamination that may not be removed as easily with a clay bar or clay mitt.
Changes Color When Making Contact With Iron Particles
Immediately after spraying, you quickly see an amber/orange-colored product within the bottle, turn purple. When Adam's Iron Remover comes into contact with iron particles, it quickly attacks and turns stubborn contaminants into a purple liquid form that safely washes away from your finish.
Spray
Using an Iron Remover is essential when heavy decontamination is required such as before applying a ceramic coating. If you plan on applying a ceramic coating, we recommend using Adam's Strip Wash (removes car wax & sealants), Iron Remover, Clay Bar & Graphene Ceramic Coating.
The objective of decontaminating your vehicle is to cleanse your pain of harmful contaminants. Adam's decontamination spray ensures that there are no more hidden contaminants stuck to your paint, even after using a clay bar or clay mitt.
Allow To Activate
After spraying Adam's Iron Remover on your vehicle, you will notice that it actives fast on contact. In about 2-5 minutes, the paint will start to “bleed” purple – showing that the chemical is hard at work removing any embedded contamination that may not have been removed with a clay bar. In this stage, the ammonium thioglycolate is reacting to ferrous metals by pulling them off the panel so they can be rinsed away.
Rinse Away
The final step of the decontamination process is to rinse clean the liquified residue from your paint and car windows.
Use As Wheel Cleaner:
Iron Remover can also be used on wheel surfaces, however, it is recommended to use Adam’s Wheel Cleaner as it’s a thicker, more concentrated formula. Adam's iron remover strictly removes iron – that’s it. So don’t expect your neglected wheels to come up perfectly clean by just using Iron Remover by itself.
