| Answer: | I make 2 batches every day and it needs to be descaled about once every 3-4 weeks. Your water source will also determine how often to descale. I have a very hard water source. Another tip, put it on a timer so it cycle off before it boils dry. This will make it last longer before it needs to be descaled. I set my for 5 hours and it leaves about an inch of water in the bottom which results in less scale attaching to the surface of the container making it much easier to clean. |

| Answer: | The life of a charcoal filter pod is totally dependent on the amount of contaminates in the water going through it. My city water (1/4 million people) is so bad I run it through an RO filter then distill it and it still leaves a calcium deposit in the distiller pot after a single gallon. Without a filter pod the taste and odor is intolerable ! Each of my charcoal filter pods only last for a few gallons (not this brand). I have found all charcoal filter pods to be equally good. |
