12 best cinder block screws

Cinder block screws, also known as concrete screws or masonry screws, are specialized fasteners designed for anchoring objects into concrete, cinder blocks, or other masonry surfaces. These screws are commonly used in construction and DIY projects to securely attach items to hard surfaces. Here are some key points about cinder block screws:

  1. Material and Design: Cinder block screws are typically made of steel, which provides the strength and durability needed to penetrate and hold within concrete or cinder blocks. They often have a threaded design with a sharp, pointed tip to facilitate easy penetration into the masonry.

  2. Threads: Unlike traditional wood screws, cinder block screws have specially designed threads that are optimized for gripping into masonry materials. These threads may be coarse or fine, depending on the specific screw type and application.

  3. Head Types: Cinder block screws come in various head types, including hexagonal heads, Phillips heads, and Torx heads. The choice of head type depends on personal preference and the tools available for installation.

  4. Installation: Installing cinder block screws typically requires drilling a pilot hole into the masonry material using a masonry drill bit. Once the hole is prepared, the screw is driven into the hole using an appropriate screwdriver or power drill. The screw's threads engage with the masonry, creating a secure anchor.

  5. Anchoring Strength: Cinder block screws offer excellent anchoring strength when properly installed. They are commonly used to secure fixtures, brackets, shelves, electrical boxes, and other items to concrete walls, cinder blocks, or similar surfaces.

  6. Corrosion Resistance: Some cinder block screws are coated or made from materials that provide resistance to corrosion. This is important, especially for outdoor or damp environments where moisture exposure could lead to rust and degradation.

  7. Variety of Sizes: Cinder block screws are available in various lengths and diameters to accommodate different projects and load-bearing requirements. Choosing the right size is crucial to ensure a secure attachment.

  8. Removal: While cinder block screws are designed for secure anchoring, they can be removed if needed. Reverse the installation process by unscrewing the screw from the masonry surface.

In summary, cinder block screws are specialized fasteners designed for anchoring objects to concrete, cinder blocks, or masonry surfaces. They are known for their durability, anchoring strength, and the ability to securely attach items to hard materials. Proper installation, including drilling pilot holes and selecting the right size and type of screw, is essential for a reliable and long-lasting attachment.

User questions & answers

Question: Do these work for nails too
Answer: the Drill Bit that came with the Fasteners (qty 100) was a 5/32; it lasted for 2.5 holes drilled into concrete. I purchased additional 5/32 drill fits to finish the job.
Question: What size is the enclosed drill bit and will it last to drill as many holes as there are screws in the package
Answer: I used a Phillips #2 driver.
Question: what size of phillips is used to avoid stripping the head
Answer: They are self tapping in concrete or masonry but you need to drill a pilot hole first. The box comes with one bit of the appropriate size but I would suggest buying 4-5 more, you have to use special concrete bits and not the ones you usually use in wood. You also need a powerful drill, the $20 manager's special won't do the job.
Question: Do you need to tap the concrete before screwing in the screws? Or are they self tap screws
Answer: Just tear off the Shrink Capsules with scissor or other tool.

User questions & answers

Question: Do these require anchors for use with Stucco
Answer: More than you will need
Question: How much load capacity it has
Answer: Tapcon is a style of screw and not a brand. And yes these are "tapcon"
Question: are these tapcon brand
Answer: Yes I used a regular 18 volt DeWalt drill to drill the holes and run the screws. It worked fine but I went to hardware store and got a concrete bit for impact driver and it was a huge improvement for as speed up the hole drilling
Question: Can you use a regular (non-impact) drill for these
Answer: I'm not sure of what you mean. In lieu of attaching things to concrete using special nails that are shot into the concrete, you can use a masonry drill bit to create the hole into with you install these screws.

User questions & answers

Question: What kind of fastners do they go with
Answer: 8 mm socket works perfect
Question: What is the width of the head
Answer: 5/16” socket
Question: I'm a noob at this, what size socket is used for tightening down
Answer: I think that would be fine. Use a few for each side. Made a bench for my wife and her obese friend to smoke darts on a cinder block wall. 2x6 mounted to the wall with a 2x12 on it so they can sit on that. Put 8 of them in a 6’ 2x6 and it holds them. Guessing 500lbs total weight. Did them both at one time a couple times, they’re big women!
Question: How much weight will they hold.? Want to hang a 50” tv outside on brick
Answer: These will not hold in stucco.

User questions & answers

Question: How long are the screws
Answer: I am not sure exactly how much weight these anchors hold. It is my belief that they would easily hold 10 lbs. It is important to know that they are designed to be used in masonry/brick/block walls. I would not use the in drywall.
Question: How much weight do these hold? I’m looking to mount a cabinet to my bathroom
Answer: Yes I believe these anchors would work fine for a 6 lb sign on a Stucco wall. Stucco walls are typically made of sand and cement. The harder the wall, the better. These anchors work best on concrete, cinder block, and brick and mortar walls, floors, etc.
Question: Would this work to hang a 6lb wooden sign on an exterior stucco wall
Answer: Since the screws In the “anchor kit” are 1” long, I typically drill the hole approximately 1 1/4” deep to allow enough space for the plastic anchor to fit in flush to the wall or floor that you are working on. Tip: With some concrete walls, I found it helpful to use a 3/16” masonry drill bit to drill a pilot hole and then follow up with the 1/4” drill bit that comes in the kit. It seems to make for a tighter fit between the plastic anchor and the concrete.
Question: How deep does one drill the hole to get a good fit
Answer: I really don't understand the question, but I think what they want to know is what they are used with or for. They are used for mounting in concrete or brick and require a hammer drill with a 3/16 masonry bit. I then use a impact drill to install. Hope this helps. P.S. Some brands include the bit.

User questions & answers

Question: Would these work on plaster wall
Answer: You should use a masonry drill bit. I would not use a hammer drill for a shallow hole in stucco, as it could crack the surrounding area, making the anchor point weak. Masonry bit is what you need.
Question: Do you need a hammer drill for the drill to work in concrete stucco
Answer: I would trust them for light duty only, nothing heavy such as books.
Question: Is the item durable for shelfs
Answer: True phillip head screws.
Question: do this come with true phillip heads screws or combo head
Answer: yes ,you can but don't you it is too long , length is 2-1/4 inch, there are a lot of sheetrock screw out there , there are more cheaper

User questions & answers

Question: How do I screw it in to the wall
Answer: The bit for 1/4" screws is 3/16", same as Tapcons. The bit is for a drill with a Jacob's style chuck. If I were drilling more than a few holes I would buy a bit that fits a hammer drill with a SDS+ style chuck. Those drills are much faster than my small hammer drill. Is it cinder block or concrete block? No, they are not the same. Cinder block has coal cinders, fly ash or bottom cinders in the concrete and tend to be softer.
Question: What size is the drill bit? Is one usually enough for installing 100 screws in cinder block
Answer: Depends on the material behind the plaster. I use this on the concrete block wall which is solid and it works. I don’t know if this work for stud wall behind the plaster.

The Problem Red Seal Solves

Keeps moisture in or out! Use outside on electrical boxes, hose reels, concrete slabs, or for cement roofing tile installation. Any time concrete comes in contact with water, it faces a life shortening processes. In cold climates, water that seeps into a drilled hole, can freeze and cause cracking. In warm climates, water inside a hole allows for mold to grow. Both situations can cause the screw to corrode, concrete to crack, and ultimately premature failure of the structure.

Hi-Low Threads

  • Offers fast driving and strong plank bonding.

One-Handed Anti-Wobble Installation

  • Stick-Tight is a patented drive system featuring Phillips Square Driv, allows for one-handed, anti-wobble installation.

Diamond Tip

  • The diamond tip ensures the screw will drive smoothly into the pre-drilled hole.

Angel Wings

  • The screw prevents moisture damage with our proven “Angel Wings” and Red Seal washer system.
  • Angel Wings under the head of the screw ensure that debris is cleared from the hole, so that the Red Seal washer can create a tight moisture barrier.

Under Head Silicon Gasket

  • The under-head silicon gasket ensures a water-tight fit.

Complete Kit

  • Each kit contains 12 screws, a drill bit, and a driver bit.
  • Each screw comes with a proprietary long-lasting silicon washer pre-installed, that prevents moisture from entering.

User questions & answers

Question: What kind of fastners do they go with
Answer: 1/4 socket
Question: What size socket can i use for this
Answer: 5/32 drill bit is standard for 3/16 inch concrete screws. And that is the size of the drill bite. Now, will it last for the entire box of screws? Depends on what type of concrete your drilling into. I used this bit for drilling holes into concrete block, not solid concrete. I have driven about 50 holes so far and the bit is working well. However, no concrete drill bite lasts forever. I always have two or three 3/16 and 1/4 inch drill bits around just in case.
Question: What size is the enclosed drill bit and will it last to drill as many holes as there are screws in the package
Answer: Not sure of size it was to small for the screws.. No it will not make 100 wholes

User questions & answers

Question: They work in concrete or cinder blocks but do they work with an old concrete floor
Answer: I’ve use them to fasten wood to concrete without pre drilling to wood. You kind of have to burn the tip through it. I would be comfortable using them in a wood to wood situation but there are cheaper options for out there.
Question: Are these strickly for concrete, or could I use them for wood screws as well
Answer: I use these fasteners to attach wood to concrete walls and floors. Mine came with a 5/32"X3-1/2" drill bit to drill the piolet holes in the concrete. I use a 1/4 inch bolt bit on my impact driver to attach the SNUG Fasteners.
