Question: Hi . Is it useful to work on pieces of steel or aluminum that is made very weak? Would you have to look for the same product but be made of steel
Answer: yes this will work for steel and other "hard" metals. it's not "industrial " quality but for a home shop it's great. the weak link is the knob on the toolpost it is sort of soft,I recommend replacing it with a grade 8 boly.

Answer: The inserts that came with it cut aluminum just fine. Be sure to use a cutting oil of some sort, or it will weld to the tip and mar the surface. I just bought Sandvik inserts for the dcmt and ccmt holders, but they're much pricier.
