14 best boot repair glue

Boot repair glue is a type of adhesive specifically designed for repairing boots, shoes, and other footwear. It falls under the category of urethane adhesives, which are known for their strong bonding capabilities and flexibility once cured. Urethane adhesives are widely used in various industrial and scientific applications due to their excellent bonding properties.

Boot repair glue is formulated to provide a durable and flexible bond that can withstand the stresses and strains that footwear is subjected to. It is commonly used to fix issues such as sole separation, tears, or detachment of various components of the shoe.

One of the key advantages of urethane-based adhesives like boot repair glue is their ability to bond different materials, including leather, rubber, fabric, and synthetic materials commonly found in footwear. This versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of shoe repair applications.

Additionally, many boot repair glues are designed to be waterproof and resistant to various environmental factors, ensuring that the repaired footwear remains durable and functional even in adverse conditions.

When using boot repair glue, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper application and curing times. Additionally, it's recommended to clean and prepare the surfaces to be bonded for the best results.

Please note that while boot repair glue can be an effective solution for many footwear repair needs, for more complex or critical repairs, it's always advisable to consult a professional cobbler or footwear repair expert. They have specialized knowledge and equipment to handle more intricate repairs.

Remember, always exercise caution when working with any adhesive products, and follow safety guidelines to ensure proper usage and minimize any potential risks.

Boot-Fix Shoe Glue: Instant Professional Grade Shoe Repair Glue

Boot-Fix

Based on 6 reviews Check latest price

Product description

"Boot-Fix's Shoe Glue is a flexible super glue that works almost instantly on footwear! As my dad used to say "If the shoe fits, Glue It!" Even the famous Gorilla Glue and Shoe Goo can't compare with Boot-Fix Shoe Glue when it comes to re-attaching the soles and heels of your favorite boots, shoes, and sandals. The flexible super glue formula was specially created just for repairing footwear. Whether it's in the blistering summer heat or icy cold of winter, boot-fix glue is designed to hold. Most super glues dry rigidly and can take several minutes or more to fully cure. Boot-Fix Glue dries clear and flexible! Whether you need to glue your boots for a hard day's work, a tough day of training, or just a walking around the office, Boot-Fix Glue can repair your work boots, athletic sneakers, and your rubber soled dress shoes." - John Hnilica, Founder NJOY Distributors, LLC.

  • Not just regular "super glue"! It's what the professionals use. We know, because we've been doing shoe repair for three generations!
  • Professional strength and flexible shoe glue that bonds almost instantly with no clamping! Doesn't expand or dry thick like the other leading brands.
  • Re-attach your sole with confidence because unlike other shoe glues, Boot-Fix's shoe glue creates a flexible bond unaffected by heat, cold or moisture.
  • Formulated to use on all footwear materials, especially rubber and vinyl footwear where other glues fail, including boots, athletic shoes, climbing shoes, dress shoes and more.
  • Specifically formulated to create a lasting bond that stays strong so you can have confidence in repairing your shoes yourself.

User questions & answers

Question: Does anybody have the data sheet on this stuff i'm looking for something that will withstand high temp 160 to 170 F or 77c.I want to patch a car seat
Answer: I would just call an auto upholstery company local to you and see what they recommend.
Question: Why 3x$ compared to other super glue formulas? Enough to coat the soles of two boots and or other separated layers? Why such a little bottle
Answer: Thank you for your question. Boot-Fix retails for $9.95 but is $14.45 Prime to cover the cost of shipping. Boot-Fix is much stronger than regular super glues and contains an additive to keep the cyanoacrylate flexible when it dries. The formula and manufacturing process was intended for the shoe repair industry so you are getting the best of the best professional grade shoe repair glue. Boot-Fix contains 20 grams of adhesive and will last about 2 years. There is enough glue in the bottle to repair up to 10 boots or 15 shoes. Compare that to the $24 we charge to make the same repair in our shops. Thanks again. Hope that helps!
Question: Will it reattach running show soles that became completely detached from the upper soon after first use? New old stock shoes. Apply to entire sole
Answer: I'm certain it will. My boots I bought this glue for were DrMartens. The fabric mesh style. And sadly it this glue wasn't useful with fabric. I used the glue for my other old England original DrMartens and it worked perfectly well. Also used this glue (out of curiosity) for other projects and it worked so well. So besides fabric....This boot glue fix worked on every other project.
Question: Is this just like "krazy/super glue" only packaged for shoes at a higher price, meaning might as well just use the cheaper version? or is this better
Answer: Shoe-Fix and Boot-Fix are LIKE Krazy Glue or super glues, because it is a cyanoacrylate formula. BUT, Shoe-Fix and Boot-Fix have been specifically formulated for the shoe repair industry to bond to all types of materials used in today's footwear and remain flexible after curing to hold as long as possible. Regular super glues dry hard and would crack apart and break during shortly after use. We are professional shoe repairmen! We've been using this type of shoe glue in our two Florida shops for over twenty years and thought it was time for the retail market to be able to use the same glue we do - so here it is!!!

Product features

THE BOOT-FIX DIFFERENCE:

Boot-Fix is a super glue (cyanoacrylate) that is specifically formulated for the shoe repair industry.  We know because we’ve been using this type of glue in our shoe repair shops for almost 30 years now and we think we’ve found the best formula yet!  Boot-Fix Glue is the strongest footwear adhesive that works on all different types of shoe materials. What makes Boot-Fix Glue different from your average super glue?  Boot-Fix remains flexible after it dries so it doesn’t just break apart again when the footwear is worn.  Also, it’s viscosity has been specifically formulated to bond to the types of materials used to manufacture footwear these days. Unlike other shoe glues, Boot-Fix doesn’t require clamping for most repairs.  It’s ready to go in minutes, not hour or even days. Boot-Fix Glue is completely waterproof and it’s designed to hold even in the blistering summer heat, or icy cold of winter. Whether you need to glue your boots for a hard day's work, a tough day of training, or just a walking around the office, Boot-Fix Glue can repair your work boots, athletic sneakers, rubber soled dress shoes, and much more!. As my dad used to say “If the shoe fits, Glue It!”

HOW TO USE:
HELPFUL TIPS:

*  Have a tri-folded paper towel handy to wipe off any excess glue.

*  For completely detached soles, preset sole to desired position and hold. Repeat above steps to the toe or heel first, then repeat for opposite end until entire sole is attached.

*  If there’s a white film on the surface of the material, or if the footwear has been washed or exposed to soapy substances, you will need to use more Boot-Fix and apply more pressure for a longer period of time to allow for the adhesive to soak through the film and bond to the intended materials.

*  For porous materials, use Boot-Fix as described in the directions.  If the bond does not hold after 1 minute, simply repeat the steps again with more glue now that the porous material has been filled with some glue. This repair might also require more pressure for a longer period of time for the adhesive to work as intended.

*  Latex or other types of gloves are not required to use Boot-Fix and may get glued to your footwear accidently. We recommend doing the repairs carefully with your bare hands. If you do accidently get Boot-Fix on your skin, apply cooking oil to bonded areas and gently rub to peel bond apart.

*  Store Boot-Fix in a cool dry place or refrigerator and ensure the cap clicks shut when closing for longest life.

GEAR AID Shoe Repair Glue, Fix Soles, Heels, and Leather and Rubber Boots with Aquaseal SR

GEAR AID

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price
  • Make long-lasting repairs and seal leaks on hiking boots, running or climbing shoes and even cleats
  • This durable urethane adhesive, previously known as Freesole, bonds permanently to soles and heels; dries as a clear and flexible rubber that won’t peel or crack overtime
  • Superior abrasion resistance makes Aquaseal SR ideal for creating toe protectors on work boots or re-building worn heels
  • Compatible with all types of footwear including leather, suede, rubber, neoprene, canvas, and GORE-TEX boots and shoes
  • Packaging may vary

User questions & answers

Question: Would Freesole work to repair a seam that's starting to unravel above the heel on my favorite pair of leather boots? The rip is almost a 1/2 inch now
Answer: Freesole isn't really intended for that kind of repair, but for building up a worn down surface, or gluing two flat surfaces together. If it's a stitched seam up the back of the boot, and the stitching, not the leather is failing, it might prevent further unraveling. It probably wouldn't hold together two pieces of edge-butted leather, but if there's a leather liner behind the seam (dress boots), or a reinforcing strip over it (work boots), you may be able to glue the two sides down to it- but clamping it would be difficult and messy. A shoe tree would be the best way to maintain the shape during curing. If it were me, I'd go to a shoe repair shop - a good one could fix it better and faster. If they are high quality dress leather boots, the cost and appearance of a professional repair would be worth having a pro do it.
Question: After you use it, does the opening of the tube get clogged up (like in Elmer's glue)? If yes, what can be done to open up the tube again
Answer: Before storing for long time an opened tube, I put a little petroleum jelly on the thread of the nozzle. Then I take approx. 1"x1" piece of aluminum foil, also smear some jelly on it, cover the nozzle and jam it around the treads. Then screw on the cap on top of it. Store in the freezer. The jelly helps to (1) seal and prevent the solvent from evaporating; (2) prevent sticking the cap/foil to the nozzle. Make sure not to get the jelly on the material you are gluing next time. Some hardening may still occur: pry off the hardened part with a sharp tool (see the trick with a drill bit mentioned by J. Brown). I've managed to use one tube many times in a span of several months following this routine.
Question: almost the whole sole is coming off a pair of expensive loafers. will this hold that much on
Answer: I wasn't impressed with this product. Maybe others will have better luck? This didn't hold soles on for us. E6000 seemed better.
Question: The second time I wanted to use this product, it was hard in the tube and wouldn't come out. How do you get the product soft enough to squeeze it out
Answer: Hi, after the first time I used the Freesole, I put the cap on and put it in the freezer. The next time i used it, i took it out of the freezer and let it warm up for 15-20 minutes and it came out of the tube fine. They recommend you put the tube in warm water in the instructions. I hope this helps.

Question: how does this compare to Shoe Goo
Answer: I like it very much, it is not as thick as Shoe Goo. i use it on soles that have come loose. Put a little on the outer edge of the sole then I clamp it to the upper for about 15-30 minuets. Works like a charm.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work on a bicycle inner tube made of butyl
Answer: Someone said that it might not hold up to the pressure of being used on an inner-tube. Actually, as long as you only inflate it while it's in the bicycle tire when you inflate it, the pressure helps push the patch tighter into the inner tube. My best guess is that it should work as patch glue, but use it only if you already have it...and nothing else. Otherwise you should just get a cheap tire repair kit that someone in the bike shop recommends for your tire.
Question: What is the shelf-life for aquaseal
Answer: Once the tube has been opened it will last anywhere from 2 months to 12 months depending on storage and the amount of moisture present. It is recommended to store in a low moisture area to increase shelf life.
Question: How is this different from the normal AquaSeal
Answer: This product is normal Aquaseal. It is available from our store in tubes of 0.75oz or 8oz.
Question: I need to bond a large patch of pvc plastic over a big hole in my pvc plastic inflatable kayak. Will this bond pvc to pvc
Answer: Hi Audrey,Not sure about the PVC. The packaging says nothing about it. I would think it would probably work, but you might consider contact cement as well.

User questions & answers

Question: are they full water proof, or just water resistant
Answer: These are more water resistant than water proof ( like a rubber wader) . They become much less water resistant with time . A treatment with a thick rub on type snow proofing product when you get them new will really help . Repeat as needed .
Question: I need boots for trekking in a tropical jungle like Roraima for a week, I need them to be waterproof and to protect my ancle, is this a good choice
Answer: No, these boots are no longer waterproof. Since 2016 they do not contain goretex. Mine started to leak in slushy snow after 3 weeks of use. These boots have been cheapened but the cost for them went up.
Question: Would these be any good for everyday snow shoveling
Answer: Yes, they are perfect boots for shoveling snow. If you are in deep snow, get some gaiters and you have an awesome set of snow boots. Be sure to care for your boots by using a silicone rub such as kiwi minkoil. By the way, in the last 6 years I have been through 4 pairs of these awesome boots. I use them for my job (package delivery) and use them for outdoor activities like 5-15 mile hikes. Get some SOLE Ultra insoles and these puppies will keep your feet painfree especially if you are on you feet for 10-15 hours/day. The only bad part is that the tread wears out pretty fast. But that is probably my fault because I cover so many miles (~300 miles/pair) on them on the concrete, asphalt and mountain trails. I'll stop there, I love these boots and hope they never change them!!
Question: if i was hunting rare tiger's to extinction in the Himalayas in the dead of summer would they hold up to the jungle
Answer: It will take a lot of walking to find a jungle in the Himalayas as the Himalayas are a mountain range, though tigers are found in the Bhutan over 13,000 feet. Yes these boots will hold up - mine are over 12 years old and only now is the rubber starting to perish. Been through bushveld hiking in hot and humid South Africa and below -29 Celsius in the Alps!

User questions & answers

Question: Is it sandable
Answer: No
Question: Can I use this to seal uncured leather in my shoe interior? The smooth finished surface peeled off and the uncured leather stains my socks
Answer: Hello, This should work on uncured leather. It is primarily designed to coat leather boots and gloves to help them last longer. Thank you!
Question: Will this fix cracks in the bottom of boot soles
Answer: Even though I have not used it for that, I think the glues is tough enough to plug them up and bind for quite awhile. I would use a file or something to rough up the areas near the cracks and clean very well with a detergent first. When completely dry, force it into the cracks to the inner sole and wipe level with the bottom. I think it should work. I used this stuff for years to glue rubber patches on the soles of daywear shoes even as a kid, and the shoes have lasted me years. Of course, when there is not much sole left on the shoe, you have a problem. :)
Question: Is there a main difference between this and normal shoe goo
Answer: Seems like the same to be honest. I got it because I was using it for boots.

User questions & answers

Question: Is there a way to remove/dissolve shoe goo once it's dried
Answer: I have not tried to remove the shoe goo after the product has dried. I do not see on the tube any directions on how to remove it from the shoe once it is applied. It may take mineral spirits (I like the minimal smell choice) it still should be done outside if you decide to try. To help make it not stick to the shoe... Wish you the best...

User questions & answers

Question: I need to patch some holes in my wetsuit. When dry will it be smooth? I don't want it to rub on my skin and be rough
Answer: I used to patch a cut that didn't go all the way through my wetsuit. For that application, you stretch the cut and place the glue in the two sides and when you bring them together, there's little glue on the outside if you used the right amount. My cut was on the outside of the thigh, and it's been several months and it has held really well.
Question: Can I use this to seal along seams as preventative measure? I want to avoid rips in a certain costume
Answer: You could, but it would make your "costume" uncomfortable, because wherever you put the seal, itʻs a little bit on the "rough" side. I would advise against your idea.
Question: Is seal cement neoprene for seams in waders
Answer: It is intended for neoprene but could potentially work on the vulcanised rubber used for waders as well. The Aquaseal cement is very hardy and worth the try. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask. Thank you, Bri S. House of Scuba
Question: will it work to glue my neoprene boots to my rubber swim fins
Answer: Why would you do that ? Buy full foot fins.

Gorilla 5002801 Original Waterproof Polyurethane Glue, 8 Ounce Bottle, Brown, (Pack of 1)

Gorilla

Based on 4 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The product that started it all. Original Gorilla Glue built a name for itself with its incredible, industrial holding power and versatility. The water activated polyurethane formula expands into materials to form an incredibly strong bond to virtually anything. Gorilla Glue is a 100% waterproof glue, safe for indoor and outdoor use and strong enough to stand up to the elements. Gorilla Glue’s your solution for almost any project or repair. Sand it, paint it, and stain it. Simply stated, it’s the Toughest Glue on Planet Earth. Directions: 1. Prepare and Dampen the Surfaces: All surfaces must be clean, dust free and tight fitting. For shiny surfaces, such as metals, glass and some plastics, roughen up the material to give the glue something to bite into. Lightly dampen one surface with water. We recommend using a damp cloth or spraying with water. Do not saturate the surface. For dense hardwoods, lightly dampen both surfaces prior to gluing. 2. Evenly Apply Gorilla Glue Onto the Dry Surface. Carefully apply onto the dry surface. Do not over apply. We recommend wearing gloves or spreading the glue with a disposable brush. 3. Clamp the Two Surfaces Together Tightly. Make sure the clamping pressure is distributed evenly across the surface. Or, if you don’t have a clamp, use heavy objects or Gorilla Tape to achieve the appropriate clamping pressure. Clamp objects for 1–2 hours. For best results, allow 24 hours to cure. 4. Clean up: If you need to remove any uncured “squeeze out” or wet glue, we recommend wiping with a dry cloth or using a standard paint thinner. Once the glue is dry, it is best removed mechanically: Try sanding, chiseling, scraping or picking. 5. Storage Tips: After each use, wipe the bottle’s lid and nozzle clean with a dry cloth. While still squeezing, tightly replace the cap and then store in a cool, dry place. You should expect a year shelf life. • 100% waterproof; Doesn't break down when exposed to outdoor elements
  • Versatile; Easily bonds wood, stone, metal, ceramic, foam, glass, concrete and much more
  • Incredibly Strong: Expands 3 times into the materials to form an incredibly strong bond

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work on vinyl
Answer: polyurethane glue sticks to practically everything - including your skin and clothing. One thing you should know about it is that as it dries, Gorilla Glue expands when it cures, creating a foam 3x thicker than the original application. If you are trying to seam-seal vinyl flooring, this would not be a good choice.
Question: Does this work with concrete to concrete? My 4' blue stone step fell and I don't want to redo the mortar
Answer: Answer: VHB Tape provides the simplicity of a tape fastener with incredible strength. May replace rivets, bolts, screws, spot welds, liquid adhesives and other permanent fasteners. Glue is unaffected be extreme heat, cold, or water - great for indoor and outdoor repairs - 100 Percent waterproof Creates an incredibly strong bond to most surfaces including wood, stone, metal, ceramics, foam, glass, brick, concrete and more Glue expands 3-4 times while penetrating the surfaces for additional strength; Dried glue is paintable, stainable and sandable
Question: Can I use this to add tile to painted sheetrock
Answer: The glue swells as it dries, it would not be suited for gluing anything together that you would want to be perfectly flat and can not vice together. Since this glue swells according to how much you use, you would have to be pretty darn accurate per tile.
Question: How do I get gorilla premium glue off my hands? I have tried thinners, turpentine, meths, petrol & hand cleaner
Answer: First off, never use soap and water initially, or it will just make it alot harder (nearly impossible) to remove. The best solution I have found is to just use Goop all by itself first. The stuff with pumice seems to work best. Anyway, apply the Goop to your hands and rub them together vigorously, use one hand to wrap around each finger of the other a clean each finger individually, then repeat with the other hand, then sprwad your fingers on both hands and interlace them to get between all fingers. THEN (very important) wipe off your hands completely with a DRY paper towel or rag. If your hands still feel at all sticky, then do the above AGAIN. Once you have wiped off all the glue and most of the goop with the paper towels you can wash your hands if desired, but it would be best to wait if you can as the goop will continue to break down the slight glue residue. If after all this you still have sticky hands tyou can make them less annoying by applying talcum (baby) powder.
