Welds are not directly related to Tile Epoxy Adhesives or Epoxy Adhesives, but they do have some relevance in the broader context of industrial applications and adhesive sealants. Welding and adhesives are both methods used in various industries for joining materials. Here's some information about welds and their relation to adhesive sealants:
Welding: Welding is a fabrication process that involves joining two or more pieces of metal or thermoplastic materials by melting them together and then allowing them to cool, forming a strong bond. There are various welding methods, including arc welding, MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, and more. Welding is commonly used in the manufacturing and construction industries to create strong and durable connections between materials.
Adhesive Sealants: Adhesive sealants, including epoxy adhesives, are substances used to bond and seal materials together. Unlike welding, which involves melting and fusing materials, adhesive sealants work by creating a bond at the molecular level between the adhesive and the surfaces it contacts. Epoxy adhesives, in particular, are known for their high bonding strength, durability, and resistance to various environmental factors. They are often used in construction, automotive, aerospace, and other industries to join materials such as metal, plastic, and composites.
Relation between Welds and Adhesive Sealants: While welding and adhesive sealants serve similar purposes in joining materials, they are used in different circumstances and have distinct advantages and limitations:
Welding is primarily used for metals and thermoplastics, creating a strong and permanent bond. It is commonly used in structural applications and in situations where high mechanical strength is required.
Adhesive sealants like epoxy adhesives offer versatility in bonding various materials, including metals, plastics, ceramics, and composites. They can provide a more uniform stress distribution, thermal insulation, and corrosion resistance compared to welding. However, their strength may not match that of welded joints in some applications.
Adhesive sealants can also act as sealants, preventing the ingress of moisture, gases, or contaminants. This dual function makes them suitable for applications where both bonding and sealing are required.
In summary, welding and adhesive sealants serve distinct roles in joining and sealing materials. The choice between them depends on factors such as material compatibility, strength requirements, environmental conditions, and design considerations in industrial and scientific applications.

User questions & answers
Question: | Weird question i know but would i be able to glue my led light strip to the carpet part of my vehicle with this |
Answer: | Yes but it doesn't set quickly like super glue. You'll need to hold the led in place for at least 6 minutes and then let the glue dry completely. I used the glue to reattach a rearview mirror support slug to a windshield. I held the slug in place for 6 minutes and then let it dry overnight before I attached the rearview mirror to it. The instructions on the package will explain this. Also, be aware that you will NEVER be able to remove the led without ripping out the carpet. |
Question: | Would this work to fill a small hole in a slab of granite |
Answer: | Yes but it won't be pretty |
Question: | We put in peel and stick flooring, and there are a few gaps between boards. Would this work to fill in the gaps |
Answer: | Can it? Sure. Is it practical to use it in this manner? Probably not. It is messy, but if you tape the areas where you do not want the epoxy and pull the tape up before it sets, you'll be fine. You can also clean it up with acetone as long as you get to it before it sets. I also wouldn't recommend 5/6 minute epoxy, either. If you are filling a long gap, you'll need the extra time for clean up. |
Question: | can it hold metal to plastic |
Answer: | yes it can |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used to"glue 2 pieces of metal together |
Answer: | Yes, it can glue metal, that's what it's designed for. What you must consider is the type of stresses the metal is subject to. Any glue joint will be weaker than the original homogeneous metallic structure |
Question: | can I use this thing on coolant pipe for little bit leak |
Answer: | it will only work on metal, not plastic or rubber. coolant would have to be drained prior to application as part must be clean and dry. 24HR cure time is minimum. product has the consistency of cake batter, not putty as is the case with most other JB Weld materials. might require several thin layers applied over time so don't plan on an overnight fix. has held up well in fixing catalytic converter which is obviously very hot at operating temp. |
Question: | Is this waterproof |
Answer: | Not in my experience. I used it to fix a hole on my barbecue and some moisture got in contact which caused it to crack and fall apart. |
Question: | Can I use this to repair a stove burner grate? I dropped it and the pieces need to glued together. Thanks |
Answer: | No, this will not provide any type of structural support. This is a filler, we also do not recommend any of our products to be in direct flame. Thank you, J-B Weld Support |

User questions & answers
Question: | Whats a good way to sharpen |
Answer: | I received the older model |
Question: | The chipping hammer's chiesel end has no edge on it , is it supposed to be that way |
Answer: | Look under "Technical Details", item weighs 1.52 lbs (20 oz hammer) |
Question: | Can this hammer be used by geology students out in the field |
Answer: | The handle is covered in a dense foam to insulate it from repetitive vibration as you pound nails and things. If you mean "shock" as in insulated from electrical shock, I don't know how much, if any, protection the foam gives from that kind of shock. |
Question: | Is this made from carbon steel |
Answer: | Depends on the hammer weight. The 22oz is 16" long from top of head to bottom of handle. The 16oz is shorter but I dont know how much. |

User questions & answers
Question: | J-B does NOT recommended this for exhaust manifold use, per their site FAQ. My truck's manifold is cracked: Would furnace cement work on such a crack |
Answer: | I am not familiar with furnace cement, but I would doubt such cement would stand the pressure from leaking gasses. However cast iron exhaust manifolds canbe successfully welded. |
Question: | I striped out an oil drain plug on a generator motor. But there is a second drain on the other side of the engine. Will this seal in oily environment |
Answer: | if you are thinking about plugging the hole, yes, but if you have access to the inside of the pan i would use it to attach a plate to the inside. you could also grind down the outside free of rust / dirt and use it to bond a plate to the outside. i would be concerned about just using it as a plug, where using it to bond something to the pan would not span a 1/2 to 5/8 in. gap. you might even use a quarter or a nickle or something stainless that will not rust. after it sets, hit it with some high temp paint. |
Question: | can you use this to seal a leaking transfer case seal? (would work ? instead of having to replace the seal |
Answer: | I guess it depends on if you ever want to fix it right. Once you use this stuff thats how it will be forever, it's not pliable or removable |
Question: | Will this fix a hole in a muffler |
Answer: | I used it on the muffler and tailpipe on my Honda four wheeler and it has been holding up well. If fact that's what I bought it for originally. The holes I patched you could cover with a dime. |
