User questions & answers

Question: will it bond metal to plastic
Answer: Yes. If plastic is not polyethelyne or contains a combination of it. Roughen metal surfaces if possible. Might drill holes in materials and allow epoxy to flow through it and it becomes, in effect, a plastic rivet.
Question: What is the minimum service temperature of this epoxy (once it has already been set
Answer: I would not subject it freezing temps for extended periods of time. I have a custom knife I made using this epoxy for the handles and I carry it every day all year. I have had zero issues in any weather conditions
Question: Does it dry clear
Answer: If you mean color then yes. If you mean can you see through it when it dries then it depends on how much air you introduce into it when you mix the two parts around. I suppose if you mix if very slowly, then no bubbles would be introduced and then it would be clear.
Question: Does this epoxy dry clear
Answer: Yes it will dry clear. I think if you stir rapidly you can create more bubbles which may cause the epoxy to look less clear. I like it much better than the joined tubes.

User questions & answers

Question: Will Gorilla glue work on hanging something on ceramic tile
Answer: I have zero doubt that it will work. I would prep the surface of the tile with sandpaper or steel wool at the least.
Question: Will this work to fix an axe head
Answer: I used this to fix a maul head to the handle. It was slipping thru extended use and looked like it would come off soon. First sanded and cleaned the fiberglass handle with acetone to created a rough and clean surface. Then wiped the inside of the mall head with acetone. Mixed up a big batch since I didn't want to fall short of product once I started filling. Applied it liberally to the handle then slipped the head on and used the rest to fill in around any crevice left around the head until it was one pool of epoxy flush with the head top. Let it sit for a day then used. Been over a year and it has not had any sign of slipping and looks the same as when I first glued it on.
Question: I need a clear epoxy to cover and protect a circuit i made in a small box mod i made. its for a small 4- 6 volt device. is this ok
Answer: Probably YES is your answer with NO guarantees, since I have never used an epoxy to cover ANY type of circuits. I HAVE HOWEVER, used a SILICONE SEALANT (marine grade) also available through AMAZON, to cover AND seal electrical circuits on several watercraft I have owned over the years. ALL with great success. The beauty of the silicone is that it dries clear and can easily be removed while the epoxy dries to an amber hue and is almost impossible to remove. Once it dries, it's there forever. MY suggestion is use a marine grade (waterproof) silicone sealant. GOOD LUCK!
Question: I'm thinking of using this on ceramic cookware. Is it heat resistant up to 500 degrees F
Answer: MamaO - researched question - Do NOT use Gorilla epoxy on food ceramics. For other ceramics other than food, should be ok up to 180. From 200-500, epoxy will de-compose. / Look for food safe stuff only, but best to not repair your ceramic for food use. What you want is hard to find !

Question: I need to glue metal to pvc , will it be strong and last with this combo
Answer: Only if you roughen up the PVC and metal surface. Wire brush or grinder. Epoxy is good at filling gaps. CA glue doesn't fill gaps but is strong and fast setting.
Question: Will this be suitable for filling knot holes and cracks in wood slabs
Answer: Works well for that purpose. May use a SMALL amount of stain to match if you wish. For rotten or structurally unstable wood, Smiths penetrating Epoxy works better.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this material self-level
Answer: This Plastic Bonder Body Panel Adhesive is self-leveling, for a few minutes anyhow after mixing. This stuff dries to a very glossy surface even if disturbed immediately after application, so touchups are sorta possible. It is a two-part urethane and cures to a quite hard, durable, tough, and fairly strong plastic. It is almost more a solidifying liquid plastic than it is a glue, though it does seem to stick to stuff well. I look forward to making some casted plastic parts with this stuff by utilizing silicone molds that I make from 3d printed patterns There are many casting resins out there but sometimes I want small parts and this convenient two-part urethane should be a quick and easy application.
Question: Would this product work for gluing a plastic speaker cover back onto a rear plastic door panel
Answer: It depends on the plastic. I have had great success repairing a couple of "automotive" parts. It will either work or it won't. Make sure the surfaces are clean and free of dirt and oil. It helps to "ruff up" the surrounding surfaces with sand paper especially if the plastic surface is smooth and shiny.
Question: does is repair a very thin crack from the sun on dashboards
Answer: If you can get the bond inside the crack, i think it would work. I used it to repair a broken stained glass shade and a hanging plastic bug zapper roof. The bond dries hard and holds very well. It is glossy so it may show a little.
Question: is this product ok for a gas can seam that is bad. or will the gas eat it away
Answer: I would buy a new gas can or get a bigger insurance policy.

User questions & answers

Question: After opening, what are the components shelf life? Anyway to lengthen their viability
Answer: Bought some of this same brand/same size "at least" 40 years ago! It was kept (unfortunately) in my garage (NO HEATING OR AC) for most of this time... temps here can range anywhere from a low of 12 degrees. F to 105 degrees during the course of what one could consider a "typical" year. To my EXTREME SURPRISE...This stuff worked great up until LAST YEAR!!! The resin now appears to show some signs of "separation", but even still... if I take time to assure the resin is stirred in the bottle to a consistent appearance before dispensing, it will still harden and secure the items I use it on. It takes longer to reach a full cure than in the past, but works for my non-critical needs. I can't comment on whether it has the same total bonding power as when new, but it DOES still bond! I am however now finally buying a NEW set so that I can put projects in service based on the product's original "full bonding time frame" (mine takes longer now), and for items that are either too difficult access at will (for a potential re-do") or too critical in function to take chances with bonding failure. GREAT PRODUCT provided they haven't monkeyed with the formula since I bought mine! Even drinking water has a "shelf-life", so I'm totally amazed this stuff has performed so well during the 40 years or so I've had it!!!
Question: Will it melt blue styrofoam
Answer: oh yes as fast as it hits it, jim
Question: Two questions: Is the mix pourable, and what is the maximum temperature that the cured resin can tolerate
Answer: After mixing, the mixture is viscous but can still be poured (immediately). Maximum temperature before release of toxic fumes is
Question: I'm really looking for something equivalent to super glue but in this size bottles. Question is do need to use and mix both bottles for it to glue
Answer: need to use equal parts of each tube, mix well. drying time will be stated on tubes, depending on type you buy...30 sec. to 30 min. or more. usually acetone clean-up before dried, acetone soak will also release bond, as will heat over 325 degrees.whatever quantity needed will still be a 1-1 mix, but keep in mind working time vs dry time, so not to mix more than you can use before hardening. denatured alcohol can thin mixture

User questions & answers

Question: How long do you have after you mix the two before it sets up? Putting together 2"x12" boards to make tables with wooden dowels...spreading takes time
Answer: My experience w/ Gorilla 2 part epoxy is you have probably 8 minutes before it get too tacky.Wear gloves and use a spreading stick that is wide enough to cover as much of the surface as needed after you mix. I'd also deploy both chambers completely and mix it all at once.
Question: Hurry! how do you clean up tools after using gorilla 5 -minute epoxy...i only have 2 minutes left - thanks
Answer: Immediately wash them with water. I didn't need to use anything exotic for my little project.
Question: can this be used to fix a cracked toilet seat
Answer: hmmm...I suppose it depends on where the crack is located and what the material is...plastic or wood? If it us an area that supports weight via "flexing" then I would say "no". If it is an area that is like gluing on a support nub or in a hinge then I would say give it a shot. Toilet seats are cheap...spend double the amount of the glue and get a new perch.
Question: How do you clean up excess glue
Answer: Hello Kris,If the Gorilla Epoxy has not cured, you can wipe the excess away from your project with a dry cloth. Once the epoxy has cured, removal would be mechanical means such as scraping, cutting, sanding, etc. For further assistance, please contact our Consumer Affairs department at 800-966-3458 or through our website at http://www.gorillatough.com/contact.Thank you,The Gorilla Glue Company

User questions & answers

Question: Could this be used to fix a small (1 x 1/4 inch) crack in a dryer drum? Is there danger it will come off on the clothes
Answer: When I have had questions about JB Weld products I have called JB Weld & they have answered with good information. Your problem is special because of the temperature that the drum attains. Ask JB Weld.
Question: Is this product electrically conductive
Answer: It is NOT electrically conductive. JB Weld is classified as an insulator my the manufacturer (see JB Weld FAQs). In fact it's rated to be microwave safe. Metallic conductors should never be used in a microwave oven, but JB Weld is OK for microwave use.
Question: I have a number of small leaks in an older aluminum boat-- would JB work for a repair on this as a weld/filler for small punctures? thanks
Answer: This is a general purpose epoxy that worked great for me on cast iron. It does say you can use it for marine purposes, however you might also consider their product made specifically for water:http://www.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-8277-Water/dp/B000BRQ0TW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1392730373&sr=8-5&keywords=jb+weldor look into the Permatex product made specifically for metalshttp://www.amazon.com/Permatex-84109-PermaPoxy-Minute-Multi-Metal/dp/B000ALDXV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392730252&sr=8-1&keywords=metal+epoxy
Question: block crack between cyls 5 & 7 against the head, at the narrowest point between cyls. both cyls are sleeved. will jb hold the temp without breaking do
Answer: thanks gpower. was looking online at the temp ratings of different epoxy products, actually found one @2100F, but with low tensile strength. I would like to stay away from welding as the crack is five eights long and sleeved at each end. just now pressure testing and the waterjacket has held 30 lbs for 12 hrs. I may also entertain some of the hi-tech block sealers, if it continues to hold pressure. thanks again for your input, and wish me luck putting life back in this old hemi. Dean

User questions & answers

Question: can i use this to secure to wet/live rocks together underwater somehow
Answer: You can but it takes way longer to dry and it takes more of it. Don’t press really hard because it will just spread out to thin. If you can take the rocks out then apply it then put it right back in that works to but I know once you start glueing them all to that opt is out the window.
Question: Does this stuff cause your protein skimmer to overflow
Answer: It does and I just learned my lesson after using this and seeing the skimmer overflowing. It has been 2 days and I turned the skimmer all the way and still overflowing!
Question: Will this work to glue coral pieces together to make one piece
Answer: No sure, will glue rock or plug to rock
Question: epoxy sticks to glass
Answer: I don't think so

User questions & answers

Question: Can I use this Epoxy for adhering stones for jewelry
Answer: Yes, but it will tend to not work as well for larger stones glued to flat surfaces. My wife makes glass jewelry and swears by E6000 silicone
Question: Does this bond metal and wood together
Answer: Yes it will bond wood and metal together. Works best when either material is scuffed up a bit. Russ-Pen Kit Mall
Question: Is the consistency runny enough to use for sealing the end grain of exterior wood
Answer: I haven't tried it for sealing end grain. That said, I would expect it to work. Just watch your cure time; the BSI-205 gets an initial set after some 30 minutes, but may need 12 or more hours to develop a full set. Double-check the instructions for set time.
Question: Will this bond together rubber and plastic
Answer: I do not know if it bonds rubber and plastic. I used it to seal knots in wood, filled in defects in wood instead of wood putty. Excellent adhesive for what I used it for. Bob Smith industries was very helpful to me when I called. They have many different adhesives.
