11 best high temperature caulk
High-temperature caulk, also known as high-temperature sealant or high-temperature adhesive, is a specialized type of adhesive sealant designed to withstand extreme heat and resist degradation at elevated temperatures. These products are commonly used in industrial, scientific, automotive, and aerospace applications where conventional sealants and adhesives would fail under high-temperature conditions. Here are some key points about high-temperature caulk:
Temperature Resistance: High-temperature caulk is engineered to withstand temperatures significantly higher than standard adhesives and sealants. It can typically endure temperatures ranging from 500°F (260°C) up to 2,000°F (1,093°C) or more, depending on the specific product and formulation.
Applications: High-temperature caulk is used in various applications, including sealing gaps and joints in high-temperature equipment, bonding heat-resistant materials, and providing thermal insulation. Common uses include furnace and oven sealing, automotive exhaust system repairs, and aerospace applications.
Materials Compatibility: These caulk products are formulated to adhere to a wide range of materials, including metals (such as steel, aluminum, and titanium), ceramics, glass, and certain heat-resistant plastics.
Chemical Composition: High-temperature caulk is typically made from heat-resistant materials, such as silicone, ceramic, or specialty polymers. These materials can withstand extreme temperatures without breaking down or losing their adhesive properties.
Flexible and Durable: High-temperature caulk is designed to remain flexible even when exposed to extreme heat. This flexibility helps maintain seals and prevent cracks or leaks in high-temperature environments.
Sealing and Insulation: In addition to sealing properties, high-temperature caulk may offer insulation benefits. It can be used to create a thermal barrier, preventing the transfer of heat or cold between two surfaces.
Curing Time: The curing time for high-temperature caulk varies depending on the specific product and environmental conditions. Some formulations may cure quickly, while others require longer curing periods.
Chemical Resistance: High-temperature caulk may also exhibit resistance to chemicals, making it suitable for applications where exposure to corrosive substances is a concern.
Application Methods: These caulk products can be applied using standard caulking guns or specialized dispensing equipment. Proper surface preparation is essential for achieving a secure bond.
Safety Precautions: When working with high-temperature caulk, it's important to follow safety guidelines and ensure proper ventilation, as some formulations may release fumes during curing.
Manufacturer Recommendations: To achieve the best results and ensure the longevity of seals and bonds in high-temperature environments, it's important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for product selection, application, and curing.
In summary, high-temperature caulk is a specialized adhesive sealant designed to maintain its integrity and bonding properties at extreme temperatures. It plays a crucial role in industries where high heat resistance and durability are essential to prevent leaks, maintain seals, and ensure the reliable operation of equipment and systems in challenging environments.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product suitable for adhering graphite impregnated fiberglass rope gasket on a pellet-stove door |
Answer: | Google "Curie Temperature" before using magnets on any type of homemade smoker, grill or stove repair. Because you chose this high heat sealant, I assume you'll be cooking or at least burning something. The sealant may hold the magnet to the desired object, but at a certain temperature, the magnet itself will fail. |
Question: | Is this a non Petroleum based silicone? If so will it work with a cast iron boiler |
Answer: | Hi, yes you can. It will cure within 1 day. There will be a slight vinegar type odor while applying that will dissipate. Thanks! |
Question: | Can I use this to install stacked stone inside a metal firebox |
Answer: | Hi, yes, it will then work, I just wanted to make sure it was not being used in a car engine. Thanks! |
Question: | Any idea on how many 10.3oz tubes I should use for a chimney insert and top plate? Would 1 tube suffice |
Answer: | It doesn’t say so on the tube but I believe that it is 100% silicone. I used it to caulk around a new fireplace chimney cap due to the high heat from the fireplace smoke when it’s burning. It should be great since it’s exposed outdoors year round |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product paintable |
Answer: | Not sure. It does work good as high temp adhesive though in my opinion. |
Question: | Can this product be used on cement |
Answer: | I purchased two and I based my decision on my experience of caulking tubs. Our fireplace is hand quarried stone so it isn't as uniform as modern built fireplaces. Also, Lee in mind, that I was using the caulk for fireplace glass doors and not an insert. |
Question: | Is this product food safe |
Answer: | No. Wires need to be conductive. Silicone rubber is a very efficient electrical insulator. |
Question: | will I be able to seal a thermometer with this and dip it in oil that is no more than 400degrees |
Answer: | This would not work. Car radiators hold water under pressure as it heats up. Radiator caps generally are rated at 15 pound per square inch before they realese pressure. |
Question: | What color is it when it dries |
Answer: | I believe it probably would, not sure you would need 500 degree temperatures though. you can buy a regular black silicone at the auto parts store. regular black silicone should work great on a wooden boat. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you remove it if needed |
Answer: | Believe the instructions are on the back side of the package. You can use acetone or paint thinner to remove. Its great stuff. Works well. |
Question: | Can I use it to glue shower mirror to tile in my shower |
Answer: | You can but it will probably leach through the mirror coating and appear as mold. Buy mirror mastic. |
Question: | Would this be a good product for sealing a crack in a dishwasher liner |
Answer: | Yes- I did this, along with filling in a gap on the dishwasher door gasket (which was ultimately replaced). Worked great! Be sure to clean the surface and rough it up a little (a bit of sandpaper, then clean the sandpaper dust off before application of the RTV). Used it a few years ago- is still sealed; all is well. |
Question: | My portable convection oven (heats to 500 degrees) glass door fell out of the metal bracket. Would this work to glue it back in |
Answer: | Be careful of sealant giving off toxic fumes the first few times you use it. Try heating up the oven 2-3 times before actually placing food inside that could absorb the toxic off-gasses. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If im using on my liner and insert stove, how long before i can have a fire |
Answer: | Depends on how much movement (and expansion/contraction) your afraid will disturb your final product. - I'd give it at least 12hrs if not 24hrs.. to at least get it mostly dried, adhered and set.. It's a water soluble sand impregnated caulk.. (Hence, it won't go up in flames off-gassing) It will only dry out more with heat.. |
Question: | would this work to fix a crack in a panel of the refractory in my fireplace |
Answer: | Yes this worked great for our fireplace panels. We had multiple cracks and applied this product with a caulking gun and then used a putty knife to smooth it out and pushed it into the cracks. It says on it that it IS NOT to be used on cracks larger than 1/4 ". It is rated for 2000 degree heat. Liked the price and 2 day shipping. |
Question: | Can this be used to repair hairline cracks in a Kamodo ceramic firebix |
Answer: | It’s all purpose fire place mortar so unless manufacture prohibits I would say yes |
Question: | is this product water clean-up |
Answer: | Yes it is. |
