14 best epoxy resin finish
Epoxy resin finishes are widely used in various industries for their versatile properties and applications. Here are some key points about epoxy resin finishes:
Versatility: Epoxy resin finishes are versatile coatings that can be applied to various surfaces, including wood, concrete, metal, and more. They are used in a range of applications, from art and crafts to industrial and commercial settings.
Protection: One of the primary purposes of epoxy resin finishes is to provide a protective layer on surfaces. This protective coating helps guard against wear and tear, UV radiation, chemicals, and environmental factors that may degrade the underlying material.
Durability: Epoxy resin finishes are known for their durability. Once cured, they form a hard and resilient surface that can withstand heavy use and resist scratches and impacts.
Aesthetic Enhancement: Epoxy resin finishes often provide a glossy and smooth surface, enhancing the appearance of the underlying material. This makes them popular in applications where aesthetics are important, such as in art, furniture, and flooring.
Adhesion: Epoxy resin has excellent adhesion properties, ensuring a strong bond with the substrate. This adhesion contributes to the longevity and effectiveness of the protective layer.
Application Process: Applying epoxy resin finishes typically involves mixing resin and hardener components in precise ratios. The mixture is then applied to the surface, where it self-levels and cures to form a solid, clear, or colored finish.
Curing Time: Epoxy resin finishes have a curing or hardening time during which they transform from a liquid to a solid state. The curing time can vary depending on the specific product and environmental conditions.
UV Resistance: While epoxy resins are generally resistant to UV radiation, prolonged exposure to sunlight can lead to yellowing or degradation. Some epoxy resin formulations include UV stabilizers to enhance their resistance to UV damage.
Temperature Sensitivity: The curing process of epoxy resin finishes can be affected by temperature. It's important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding the optimal temperature range for application and curing.
Safety Precautions: During the application of epoxy resin finishes, proper ventilation is important to dissipate fumes. Additionally, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and a mask, is recommended.
Maintenance: Epoxy resin finishes are generally low maintenance. Regular cleaning with mild soaps or specified cleaners is usually sufficient to keep the surface looking its best.
Always follow the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer for the epoxy resin product you are using, as formulations and application methods can vary.

User questions & answers
Question: | How thick can I pour this resin |
Answer: | If you set up a damn you could pour it fairly thick (1/4" or so). But depending on the area you wanted to cover you might want to buy more resin. These are about the size of bottles that Bubbles come in. You could also do multiple layers, but that might take a while. Amazon is a good resource, but YouTube has more examples. |
Question: | Could I use this to cover a photo mounted on cardboard? If yes, what would be the longevity until the photo underneath would yellow |
Answer: | Yes you can definitely do that. Just glue down the photo first with a glue stick and then brush a thin layer of epoxy over the photo and cardboard before doing the actual pour. This will hold the photo in place and prevent air bubbles from escaping from the paper and into the thick coating of resin. As long as the epoxy is kept indoors it should stay clear for a long time. It should only yellow if it is exposed to the sun too much. |
Question: | Is this fda approved for use with products that potentially touch food |
Answer: | It is okay to use for a table top where food may spill and touch it for a short amount of time but it should not be used for any food containers or in an application that has prolonged contact with food. |
Question: | What is the total cure time |
Answer: | I've been making dice with this resin, and although it comes out amazingly well, I'd let it cure the full 72 hours before removing from the molds. I have dice that are still tacky after 36 hours. It's worth the wait. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it required to use a ventilator mask when using? and is this Resin food safe |
Answer: | It is not required. However, you should use the epoxy in a well-ventilated area. It is possible to be food safe. However, because the customer is mixing/pouring we cannot say this is food safe. Each mixture/application would have to be assessed individually. |
Question: | Id like to dye the epoxy different shades of green but I need it to stay transparent. Any suggestions |
Answer: | There are various dyes and pigments to choose from. It really depends on how deep of a green you'd like while maintaining transparency. I would suggest trying multiple on a sample area so that you can gauge the color/transparency of the pigment/dye. |
Question: | I have stained my bar top with an oil based stain. Can I use the epoxy over it or do I need to do some other prep |
Answer: | You can use a water-based clear coat on top of the stain. After the clear coat has cured, use a 320grit sand paper to take the shine off. You can then apply the table top epoxy. |
Question: | What’s the diameter of the cap? I want to buy pumps to fit, thanks |
Answer: | The cap is 1.5 inches in diameter. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks! |
Question: | How much does it discover ( sq feet |
Answer: | Covers apx 750 sq inches. |
Question: | I have a heavy marble table, the bottom mount under the top broke off, would it be strong enough for this application |
Answer: | I got a job to put together a 13 foot marble altar, weighing several tons. I used this stuff to glue the hundreds of marble pieces together, after testing the bond strength, and it's still standing today. Granted there isn't any real strain on the joints in most places, but the bond is stronger than the marble itself. This is good stuff. |
Question: | Can it fix on the cracks of corina counter top |
Answer: | Hi Chris,It is great for crack repair as long as the crack is wide enough to be able to get the material down in it. A good rule of thumb is that crack needs to be wide enough to get a credit card wedged between. Good luck! |
Question: | What type of colorant can be used with the product - is the resin considered a polyester resin. The product details are not very precise |
Answer: | For coloring the resin I have used Custom 4 Coloring Kit for Epoxy Gluing or Repairing of Granite,...Sold by: GRANITE POLISHING PADSYou can order this item from amazon. The dye is very efficient and seems to work very well with the resin. Yes this epoxy appears to be some sort of polyester. As soon as u add the hardener the epoxy hardens fast but it gives you enough time work with. My results were very good although didn't polished it yet. Good luck |
Product features
Crystal Clear Finish
High gloss, ultra clear finish makes our epoxy perfect for Table Tops, Bars Tops, Coffee Tables, Live Edge Tables and other coating applications. However, epoxy is not flexible. River tables must be supported to prevent flexing which could cause cracking.
*Do not pour over oil-based paint or stain.
Common Question: My project is painted or stained with an oil based product, what can I do?
A: You can apply a water based clear coat (must be water based). Once the water based clear coat has fully cured, you can apply the epoxy. If the clear coat leaves a shine/gloss you may want to scuff the surface to ensure the epoxy properly sticks. We recommend using 320 grit sandpaper. If you do sand, be sure to thoroughly clean the surface prior to applying the epoxy. We recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol 99% (be sure it is 99%) to clean.
UV Resistant
Although most epoxies will yellow over time, some resist yellowing caused by exposure to ultraviolet light better than others. Our epoxy contains UV Inhibitors which helps to resist yellowing. *Although our epoxy is UV resistant, which resists yellowing, we do not recommend leaving finished projects in direct sunlight or for permanent outdoor applications.
Common Question: Can I use this on a table that will be outside on a covered patio?
A: It is possible to leave the epoxy outdoors if not exposed to direct UV exposure. If the epoxy is exposed to direct UV, the epoxy can yellow. This will be more noticeable on white or lightly colored substrates/surface. We recommend exercising caution when considering use over white or light-colored surfaces.
It is also important to consider temperature fluctuations. Materials such as metal and glass can expand and contract at a different rate from the epoxy. This could cause glass to crack or the epoxy to peel away from a metal surface.
Food Safe Epoxy
Properly cured epoxy is possible to be food safe. However, because the customer is mixing/pouring we cannot say this is food safe approved. Each mixture/application would have to be assessed individually. This is not a high heat epoxy. We recommend using hot pads/coasters for coffee mugs, hot pans, pots, etc.
Common Question: Can I use this epoxy to make tumblers?
A: We have many customers using our epoxy for custom tumbler designs. However, this epoxy self levels. Therefore, many customers utilize a "cuptisserie" which is a rotating device that keeps the tumbler rotating while the epoxy is curing so that the finish is even.
Again, keep in mind: Properly cured epoxy is possible to be food safe. However, because the customer is mixing/pouring we cannot say this is food safe approved. Each mixture/application would have to be assessed individually.
Colored Epoxy Compatible
How To Color Epoxy: Our epoxy mixes well with mica pigment powders for colored epoxy applications. River tables, resin art canvas and more may require tinted epoxy. Epoxy is not meant to be mixed with or poured over oil-based products. Do not pour over oil-based paint or stain.
Common Question: What type of pigment or dye should I use with this epoxy.
A: We do not recommend mixing epoxy with paint or anything oil based. Many of our customers use mica pigment powders. Mica pigment powders come in many different colors, glitters, metallics, and even glow in the dark.
Q: How Much Pigment Powder Should I Use?
A: This is a subjective answer as it depends on the certain hue and level of opacity desired. We suggest starting with a very small amount and adding more until the desired color is achieved. We also always suggest testing a small scrap piece of material to understand how the epoxy will flow and how the color will cure in the epoxy.
Easy To Use 1:1 By Volume Mixture
Self Leveling, Impact Resistant, Superior Air Release
Popular uses include wooden bar tops, river tables, embedding pictures or embedding solid objects into a desired surface. Because our epoxy cures crystal clear, multiple layers will not compromise color/transparency. Each poured layer should not exceed 1/4" at a time. Working Time: 25 (+/-5 Minutes)
How Much Epoxy Do I Need?
Our rule of thumb regarding coverage is 12 sqft per mixed gallon at 1/8 inch.

VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS
For Uses On
- Wood
- Concrete
- Bottle Caps
- Artwork
- Canvas
Common Question: Can I apply epoxy over paper products like photographs, cigar wrappers, playing cards, and more?
A: If you wish to apply paper decals, bottle caps, or other objects under the Table Top surface, those objects need to be bonded to the surface with craft glue or a thin layer of Table Top Epoxy. Paper products must be sealed prior to applying any epoxy as the epoxy could soak in and ruin the paper product.
You can use something like mod podge or a similar water based clear coat/glue. Allow this seal coat to dry thoroughly before applying epoxy. For figurines, shells, and other large more three-dimensional items, using a thin epoxy seal coat is best, prior to encapsulating.
HIGH GLOSS FINISH
Epoxy resin leaves durable, blemish resistant, water resistant and impact resistant coating.
The beauty of epoxy is the ability to recoat a surface after years of use to regain a smooth, high gloss finish.
Common Question: I see that your epoxy requires thin pours of no more than 1/4" per application. How long do I need to wait between pouring a new layer?
You can apply the second coat when the prior coat is tacky to the touch (usually 4-6 hours depending on temperature). If you wait longer than 12 hours between coats, we recommend a light sanding. You can use 320 grit to scuff the surface. This will help the next coat to properly stick. If you do sand, be sure to thoroughly clean the surface prior to pouring the flood coat. We recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol 99% (make sure it is 99%) to clean.

Incredible Solutions Table Top Epoxy is proudly MADE IN THE USA.

Common Question: Does your epoxy require specific temperature environment to mix/pour epoxy?
A: The ideal working temperature is around 77°F. Best results can be obtained at temperatures between 75°F and 85°F, in a clean, dry, dust-free environment. Avoid working in high humidity. It is important you keep your project in this environment throughout the entire curing process. We recommend using this product on a leveled and flat work surface so that it can flow and self-level properly.

TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy Gallon Kit Creates 12 Square Feet of Crystal Clear Perfection.
TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy is a 2-part, ultra-clear, 100% waterproof, liquid epoxy resin coating for bar tops, counter tops, table tops, furniture, chart tables, galley tables, coasters, DIY arts & crafts projects, and much more. This easy-to-use, pourable resin has a simple 1:1 mix ratio by volume to ensure great results, even if it's your first time working with it. After pouring the mixed resin onto the prepared surface, small bubbles may appear, but they can be popped easily by waving a heat gun back and forth just above the surface. This self-leveling epoxy spreads out evenly as it cures. After it dries clear & glossy, it looks so wet, people are afraid to touch it!
TableTop is also thicker, clearer & easier to use than varnish—and a lot more heat resistant. It creates the same thick, glossy, super-clear coating you see on restaurant bar and table tops. Plus its high viscosity and high-build properties mean a single coat is equal in appearance to several coats of expensive varnish.
Customize your top by embedding objects beneath the surface.
Clear coat a flat surface as is, or be creative & embed interesting objects beneath the crystal clear coating. Preserve & display photos, bottle caps, magnets, charms, & other cherished trinkets on your custom top. For a striking 3-D effect that makes objects seem to float beneath the surface, pour multiple 1/8" flood coats (waiting 4-8 hours between each coat), and embed objects in each layer.
Is cured TableTop food safe?
TotalBoat TableTop contains no harmful VOCs, which means a safer work environment when mixing, pouring, stirring & spreading, but be sure to wear proper gloves and have adequate ventilation.
TableTop is also BPA-free, so once cured, it's more suitable for contact with food. That said, we don't recommend using epoxy for a cutting board.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What’s the coverage for TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy?
A: At 1/8” thickness: 6 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Quart Kit; 12 sq. ft. per mixed Gallon Kit; 24 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Gallon Kit. At ¼” thickness: 3 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Quart Kit; 6 sq. ft. per mixed Gallon Kit; 12 sq. ft. per mixed 2-Gallon Kit.
Q: Why do I need multiple coats? Won’t one thick coat do the trick?
A: Multiple thin layers give you a sealer/leveling coat and as much build as you would like without the high risk for errors, bubbles, or a wavy surface.
Q: Can I use it on my bar top outside?
A: You can, but it will be exposed to UV rays that can make it look amber or delaminate over time, depending on substrate. You’ll want to overcoat it with a quality UV-filtering varnish.
Prepare the surface
- To contain the liquid epoxy, apply plastic packing tape (as it can be removed easily) around the edges of the table.
- Delicate objects such as photos or maps can be damaged by epoxy. Coat them first with an alternate clear coat (polyurethane or acrylic sealers are recommended) before applying TableTop Epoxy.
- Combine the epoxy resin (Part A) and hardener (Part B) at the specified, simple mix ratio of 1 to 1 by volume, and mix for 3-5 minutes, then transfer to another mixing cup and keep stirring until the mixture is blended thoroughly.
- To begin, use a brush to apply a very thin sealer coat of TableTop Epoxy to the table top or bar top to seal porous surfaces. This includes applying a thin sealer coat to any objects that will be embedded. If you skip this step, the porous surface or embedded objects will release large air bubbles that can ruin your project.
Pour the mixed epoxy
- Once the sealer coat has set, apply a flood coat.
- Pour less epoxy into any narrower areas, and more epoxy into wider, more open areas.
- Each flood coat should be no more than 1/8” thick.
- You can pour multiple flood coats (waiting at least 4 hours in between each coat) until you achieve the desired thickness. Tip: Multiple pours are recommended. Do not attempt one thick flood coat because air bubbles will get trapped beneath the surface, and the excess heat generated by a thick pour will distort the surface itself. The epoxy will not self level or cure properly.
Spread evenly
- Flood coats will flow and self level, but tools such as brushes, plastic spreaders, and squeegees may be used to help spread the mixed epoxy resin evenly across the surface.
- If you like, you can embed objects such as shells or bottle caps at this stage. You can also embed objects in subsequent flood coats in order to make the objects appear to float beneath the surface.
Remove surface bubbles
- A few minutes after the flood coat is applied, bubbles will rise to the surface. To pop the bubbles, use a heat gun (or butane torch) on low power, hold it six inches above the surface of the epoxy resin, and slowly sweep the heat gun back and forth over the surface, until the bubbles disappear. It's very important to wave the heat gun around and keep it moving, so you don't burn or singe embedded objects.
- TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy can usually be recoated in 4-8 hours without any additional prep work or sanding.
- If the previous layer is allowed to dry completely, the surface should be scuff-sanded with 220-320 grit sandpaper, for optimal adhesion between coats. After sanding, wipe the surface with a solvent such as acetone or denatured alcohol to remove dust and other contaminants. Allow the surface to dry before applying the next 1/8" flood coat.
- For any areas that have blemishes, sand with 80-grit sandpaper, before applying a final coat.
Coffee table with embedded pennies
"Great product. Exactly what I needed to finish my penny coffee table project." - Vince, via Amazon Reviews
Dining table with embedded decal
"My wife wanted a custom dining table with an embedded Compass Rose decal. I did a seal coat, then the first flood coat of TableTop Epoxy. I applied the Compass Rose decal on top of the first flood coat because I wanted the decal to be raised above the wood surface. Waited four hours, then did a second 1/8" pour of TableTop Epoxy. I beveled the edges and the table is beautiful. All my neighbors want me to make one for them!" - Joe O., TotalBoat store customer
Boat table with embedded objects
"This stuff is awesome. Use a small heat gun to quickly pop any bubbles. We used this for a boat table with a map, compass, micrometer, anchor trinket, and a silver dollar "trapped" in the clear epoxy. One tip: order extra. A whole gallon did not cover the galley table more than a quarter inch. I wish I had bought two gallons because you can recoat between four to eight hours without any prep or sanding. Highly recommend!" - Brendan Keefe, via Amazon Reviews

User questions & answers
Question: | can it be spread with a stick or brush |
Answer: | Yes you can, but be sure you thoroughly mix the two parts together. If you do, you will have no problem. I would add, that if you pour the mix into a mold that is narrow and tall, like the graphite shaft of a golf club (something I did) you will develop noticeable heat which accelerates the cure, you can reduce the hardener to less than 1-1. Also, on thick pours, you will want to watch the mixture for the first hour and use a heat source to eliminate bubbles coming to the surface. Mix thoroughly but mix slowly and smoothly to avoid creating excess bubbles. |
Question: | Is this product usa nsf |
Answer: | This is not the product for joining wood, you would want to use a regular epoxy and add some fillers. |
Question: | My bbq pit has a wood table attached to it ,can i use epoxy on in for a custom design without the resin melting or burning |
Answer: | It is possible to be FDA approved. However, because the customer is mixing/pouring we cannot say this is FDA approved. Each mixture/application would have to be assessed individually. |
Question: | Can i use this as a leveling agent on a low spot on vinyl floor prior to laying a laminate floor over top |
Answer: | Yes, you can. However, this requires thin pours of no more than 1/8" per application. Therefore, you would have to build up the layers. Alternatively, we have a Deep Pour Casting Resin: https://www.amazon.com/Pourable-Plastic-Clear-Casting-Resin/dp/B07HGNHM7V which may be more suitable. We actually have a video of clear molds here: https://www.amazon.com/vdp/6e9f8bc7633d4a9eb0cc3f436ca64c6d?ref=cm_sw_em_r_ib_dt_iO5nD5DCTNiH9 |
Family Owned Business, Made In USA
TOP QUALITY
Incredible Solutions Table Top Epoxy is proudly MADE IN THE USA.
Competent Knowledge Base helps plan and troubleshoot even the most complicated projects.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used in molds |
Answer: | Hello, Great question. Our product can withstand 120 degrees Fahrenheit. It would probably not be a good idea since it would be so close to the grill. |
Question: | Can this be mixed with wood chips and color dye to create small turning blanks 2 to 3 inches in diameter |
Answer: | Self leveling concrete would be a better option. For a bag of concrete and a bottle of primer, you would only be spending 10-15 bucks. We had to level a couple areas in our kitchen before putting down laminate, we were installing the laminate within 4 hours of putting down the concrete. |
Question: | coverage level in square feet |
Answer: | I believe the product says to do the second pour around 4 hours. I waited 3 days to do my second pour with a very light sanding of 320 grit and a good cleaning/wipe down before the second pour. The sanding did not gouge the first layer or cause any imperfections. With my second pour I only got about 1/8 of an inch. I think you might have to dam up your project if you're looking for 1/4 inch. Good luck... |
Question: | I need to fill a couple 3" deep, 12" long, 1/4" wide cracks in a walnut slab. can i use this, or would epoxy adhesive be better |
Answer: | This is not designed to be thinned, it is a 1:1 mix ratio. |
- ✅ BEAUTIFUL RESULT: Designed to look gorgeous, strong and durable. crystal clear epoxy, amazing clear cast , deep pour. Craft Resin increases the attractiveness and value of whatever it's used on!
- ✅ ALL IN ONE KIT: This kit will give you everything you need to get started with Craft Resin - 500ml/17Oz epoxy resin and 500ml/17Oz hardener; reusable mixing stick and gloves
- ✅ CRYSTAL CLEAR: Cures clear to a glass-like finish.
- ✅ EASY TO USE: Craft Resin is self-leveling, its 1:1 mixing ratio, simply mix two part epoxy: resin and hardener by volume.
- ✅ SAFE: Craft Resin is UV resistant, Food safe, Non-toxic. No VOCs. No solvents. Odorless. Non-flammable. Non-hazardous
User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used for a door sign |
Answer: | Depends on what kind of door sign you are making, I suppose! You could layer resin over a wood sign, you could mold a sign from the resin, etc. |
Question: | Can you use this to glue broken ceramic together |
Answer: | Super glue or glass glue would be better |
Question: | Can this be used on a mosaic tile table top that has a rim around it |
Answer: | Yes. This will work on your table top. Just read the directions & follow them to the "T". This resin works very well but the directions have to be followed closely. Good luck & have fun. |
Question: | How long is the work time? How long does it typically take before the resin gets tacky |
Answer: | Gets tacky about 25 to 35 minutes after you have mixed the 2 parts. Not to say it isnt applyable. That takes...maybe 50 minutes before signs of firming. Should not be messed with at that point. Prepare ahead of time! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the maximum thickness of this epoxy |
Answer: | This epoxy requires thin pours of no more than 1/4" per application. However, multiple layers can be poured. We recommend waiting until the prior layer is tacky to the touch (usually 4-6 hours) to pour an additional layer. |
Question: | at a half inch depth how many sq feet does the 2 gallon kit cover |
Answer: | We have a coverage calculator on our site. Do you need a seal coat? Will you build a dam? Our general rule of thumb is 12 sq ft. per mixed gallon at 1/8 inch. Do not mix more than 1 gallon at a time and do not pour more than 1/4 inch per application. In your case, a 2 Gallon kit would cover approximately 6 sqft at 0.5 inch. However, do NOT pour more than 1/4 inch per application or you risk an accelerated reaction. Wait until the previous layer is tacky to the touch (usually 4-6 hours depending on temperature) to pour the next layer. Please let us know if you have any other questions. |
Question: | May i used this for a countertops that have the heat coming from the stove ? Will it hold up |
Answer: | This is not a high heat epoxy. We recommend using hot pads/coasters for coffee mugs, hot pans, pots, etc. High heat epoxies are quite a bit more expensive. |
Question: | Can't find indication of coverage anywhere. Help. I don't know how much to buy |
Answer: | at 1/8 thick it is like 26 gallons for 350 square feet, realy allot more than I would have thought, I learned the hard way too |

Question: | Do they make in matte or satin, or is there any additive to make a matte/satin finish |
Answer: | Typically,it is thicker than the hardener. Not sure if it is twice as thick but there is a noticeable difference. |
Question: | Can it be poured cast in very thin fine layer as For jewelry |
Answer: | Hi there! Even though our epoxy is non-toxic, these have not yet been tested as food-contact safe. So we highly recommend that you avoid contact with food/water for consumption. However, if you plan on epoxying the outer surface of your tumbler then this will work fine. |
Question: | can I sand and buff the epoxy once it cures and still have a crystal clear appearance? If so what grit sand paper and with what should I buff it |
Answer: | Normaly the previous coats melts with the new ones, the surface should be very clean and dry. You can add a thin layer first, a second one 24 hrs. later and to avoid bubbles use the gas torch. I would'nt recomend sanding, porosity will create a lot of bubbles. In the Envirotex's web page there is a chart which shows amounts of Pour On per sq ft. |
Question: | how much do I need to cover a kitchen counter that one is 10 feet long the other is six foot long both are 25 inches |
Answer: | No it stays clear |

User questions & answers
Question: | Putting 3/4 of an inch down. Do i need to prep different layers. Gonna do it a couple days apart |
Answer: | I would sand before recoating... but... it took mine about 3days before i could sand it @ 1/4" thick... so plan for that... maybe sand it with 600grit or even 400 should be just fine |
Question: | Are there paints/ primers/ stains/ adhesives that I should avoid using under the resin? I am planning to stain/ prime a wood base w/ objects glued on |
Answer: | Embedding solid objects: Wood, rocks, shells, bottle caps, coins, etc. may be embedded with this product also. Allporous objects must be sealed first with a good coat of epoxy. If the objects are not properly sealed, they will releasetiny air bubbles which will form around the object during the flood coat. Placement of these objects may be donebefore you apply the first seal coat or they can be placed into a seal coat using it as glue to hold them down. Makesure that your seal coat completely surrounds the embedded objects so that when it hardens they are secured to yoursurface and do not float up into the flood coat. You will want to wait 24 hours before pouring the flood coat if you areusing the seal coat as a glue. This will allow the seal coat enough time to harden. If you are not placing objects in theseal coat, then they must be glued down or they can float up into the flood coat. Most regular glues will work fineexcept for hot glue sticks. In that instance you will pour the flood coat 4 hours after the seal |
Question: | What about wood expansion/movement? Once the wood is imbeded in the epoxy, will it continue to expand/contract causing the epoxy to crack |
Answer: | I coated the wood I embedded and the wood trim before I poured. Keeps the air bubbles from surfacing and the wood from expanding |
