Question: Stainless or carbon steel bristles

Question: Can I use this to clean moss off a clay tile roof/teracotta tiles

User questions & answers

Question: Where is it made
Answer: The bottom of the carton they cone in says on the bottom: MADE IN CHINA.
Question: I like this brand. i am looking for a 5 inch angle grinder knotted wheel and wire wheel
Answer: The Forney is a standard twist brush, the DeWalt is a Stringer Bead brush, two different type brushes. Both are China imports and not even close to the same quality as a USA made brush. Buy a PFERD USA made 82186 or a Weiler USA made 13130, they are far better products than the imports assuming you want a Stringer Bead brush. If you want a standard twist brush, then look for a PFERD or a Weiler standard twist.
Question: What type of material is the wires made out of
Answer: yes. if the grinder accepts a 5/8" arbor.
Question: Good for welding? Dewalt burns out fast
Answer: 4" is the most common size for a Stringer Bead brush, but other manufactures also sell 4-1/2". Look for a made in the USA as wire quality from China is not nearly as good as USA wire. Less wire breakage and flying wires from USA made products

User questions & answers

Question: Made in the USA
Answer: I don’t remember if it was made in the USA, but I know this brush is very heavy, and well built! I hope this helps?
Question: where is the shank that screws into the brush
Answer: This Brush screws onto your 7" grinder or tool
Question: Can I use this wire cup to etch existing epoxy paint for “tooth
Answer: It is good for removing paint from steel and if you are just putting a rough serfice to help bonding a new material it should work. Be careful not to heat the serface to much (could cause cloging).
Question: Will this work to strip paint from the cinder block walls in my basement
Answer: I used the cup brush to remove paint and rust from steel railings. It did a great job. If used on cinder block it might tear out a lot of material if you are not careful. The true test is to buy one and see how it works (deep paint might be impossible to get out, it should remove thick paint but might clog).

Aluminum Oxide

Fused aluminum oxide (AO) is the most common abrasive grain in use today. AO is extremely tough and durable but has no clearly defined crystal structure; when the grain wears it produces rounded edges.

Suggested applications:

Aluminum and ferrous metals.

Zirconia Alumina

During manufacturing aluminum oxide and zirconia are quenched from molten form which gives the grain a crystalline structure. This gives the grain a longer cutting life and is especially suited to coarser stock removal applications.

Suggested applications:

Heavy-duty grinding on all ferrous and non- ferrous metals.

Silicon Carbide

Silicon carbide is the hardest of all common abrasive materials. It is very sharp, but friable, leaving new sharp edges for cutting. It is initially fast-cutting but has a short life span. It is ideal for use on non-ferrous metals like aluminum, brass, bronze, magnesium and titanium.

Suggested applications:

Non-ferrous metals, non-metallics.

WE ARE WELDING

It’s been almost 90 years since Forney Industries was established with James D. Forney began selling his invention of “The Forney Instant Heat Soldering Iron” door-to-door across the heartland. With ingenuity and determination, JD advanced his business. It didn’t take long for farmers and ranchers to realize how useful his inventions were. Eventually the Rural Electric Association granted permission for salesmen to climb utility poles to hook up welders for demonstrations. With the increased exposure to JD’s products, his business began to expand. Soon he would broaden product variety with battery chargers, welding supplies and more. By 1943, Forney Industries had over 1,400 products from 150 outside suppliers.

Today, Forney offers thousands of metalworking products within four categories: welding, abrasives, personal protective equipment and shop tools. JD Forney’s grandson, Steve Anderson, is now the President and CEO of Forney Industries, and is committed his customers success; a legacy his grandfather began all those years ago. One day JD’s great grandson, Dane Anderson, will lead the company and that same legacy will be running four generations strong. Much has changed in 87 years, but the foundation of Forney Industries remains the same. After all, Welding in America isn’t just a slogan, it’s the backbone of this company.

User questions & answers

Question: Can these be used to smooth wooden house siding prior to finish coat painting or are they too agressive for that
Answer: I would think an orbital sander might be more applicable for that kind of sanding. Note!: inform yourself on lead based paint requirements! If home built prior to 1978 (I think), the original paint might contain lead, and if so, federal agencies can impose stiff fines, etc for improperly disturbing. If the lead becomes airborne (from sanding or other processes, it can be breathed in and is toxic to humans, especially kids. But getting back to your question, I would think this flapper sander too aggressive - no matter how sure or gentle a hand you have on the grinder, it would no doubt put wavy marks on the siding. I use these discs to grind weld beads and they are awesome for that purpose - they remove metal really fast and are also great for rounding sharp edges or cleaning up the weld area prior to welding to insure a clean weld.

User questions & answers

Question: How would this work to clean spots on concrete
Answer: I used to remove Corroseal from vintage tin. It may work on concrete.
Question: Good for removing rust?, planning on. Using for truck frame
Answer: I bought it to remove rust and it did remove some rust, but it didn't work as well for me as I was hoping it would. The rust came off slowly and the wire brush roughed up the surface I was working on. I ended up preferring to use a metal file instead. Also, are you planning to remove all of the rust using grinding or sanding? As an alternative you might want to consider using a product like Corroseal to chemically convert the rust into a stable substance (i.e. a substance that doesn't rust). No, I don't work for the Corroseal company or anything (if this sounds weirdly professional, that's because I'm an English teacher), it's just that applying Corroseal was the last step in my rust removal process and I was absolutely amazed by how simple and effective it was. It's a total game-changer! It will be my go-to rust removal method going forward and it would work wonderfully on your truck frame too.

Question: How wide is this wheel? I am looking for a 6" wire wheel that is 3/8" wide or less
Answer: This is an interesting issue. Please call our customer service team so we can figure out what is going on here. Forney customer service: 1-800-521-6038. Thank you.
Question: I bought this grinder with the wire wheel combo. I can’t ge the wire wheel to fit. It doesn’t seem to to be thick enough on the axle. hoe
Answer: I do not know how many wires this wheel brush has but by looking at the Forney web site this wheel has .008" wire size which seems to be the finest size they make.
Question: How many bristles does this brush have? Needing one with about
Answer: When I opened the package, I did not see the reducing bushing. I thought it fell out somewhere on the ground where I opened the package. When I installed this wheel on my 1/2 inch shaft grinder, it fit just fine. After 10 minutes of use, my grinder stopped working. I finally realized that the 1/2" to 5/8" reducing bushing was installed and is made out of plastic. It split and was the cause of my problem. I do not suggest using this wheel on a 1/2 inch shaft. Grinders can be dangerous if used improperly, this is not something to take lightly.
Question: Please explain "with 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch arbor". i am looking for a grinder that fits 1/2 inch arbor. thanks
Answer: Yes, the polishing wheel with 1/2 arbor hole can be used for 5/8 Arbor, but it have a little difficult to install and will be tight,we have 8 inches polishing wheel with 5/8 arbor hole fit better for your needs(Asin:B07DL8KS31)
