Answer:	This post was written in 2016, and here I am in 2020 knowing it's It's luck of the draw if anyone gets a lid that CAN be put on. Mine would NOT. I sat on the lid where the locking of the lid to the can should have taken place, I pounded the same area, I put the trashcan upside down and pressed hard, I pressed hard on top where it should have locked, I eyeballed, maneuvered, even called the company. Answer:	The top half of the trash can can be compressed a bit width-wise. But the wider part on the bottom (just above the narrow base) is the same width as the top. It is very thick plastic and will not bend at all.

Answer:	13 qt= 3.25 gallon. The normal small waste basket sized bags I had worked for me.
Question:	Are the dimensions at the base the same as the top or does it taper down? If not, please provide the actual dimensions at the base of the basket
Answer:	Opening at top is approximately 14.5 inches wide and the rectangular shape slopes down to approximately 12 inches at base. Can is approximately 15 inches tall. Very sturdy and fits under my kitchen sink.

Answer:	TL;DR: Yes, it's great for this purpose. Love it. Except NOT DOG PROOF. I bought this trash can exactly for this reason. It is perfect for this use. I keep it outside in the backyard, but somewhat sheltered from the sun and rain. It is able to fit plastic grocery bags, which are perfect to collect the poop and then toss the whole thing in the larger garbage can when it's full. The foot pedal makes the poop-picking-up process easy, like when you have a large shovel-full (gross) and you don't have an extra hand to open the lid. The can feels sturdy, like it will last. Sure, it isn't like the heavy duty trash cans that are provided by the trash service, but good enough for general home use. The lid definitely keeps the smell INSIDE THE CAN, which is soooo important. Man, when that lid is opened, it is like death... ugh. Luckily the lid drops quickly once you release the foot pedal. The lid is not heavy at all, but it is heavy enough to close quickly and completely without needing to touch it or close it harder. Some other trash cans I've dealt with in the past have really flimsy-closing lids, and you have to press them again to close them all the way, and those other ones definitely don't keep smells inside; that is NOT the case with this trash can. One thing worth mentioning; This can is NOT DOG PROOF. If you know that your dog is one that likes to mess with things, this can would NOT keep them out. The lid IS ABLE TO OPEN WITHOUT PRESSING THE FOOT PEDAL. A dog could likely get his nose on the lid and open it. Or could tip it over and the contents (gross) would spill all over. My dog doesn't mess with things (so glad), so this is not a factor for me. I will definitely be buying more of this trash can in the future. If I ever have to replace my backyard one, and more for the bathrooms around my house.

Answer:	I just use plastic bags from the supermarket. A little trickier - because they don't fit exactly. But they do the job, and I get to recycle all those bags!
