Answer:	Yes, but there is a trick to it. Open the lid with the foot pedal, like normal, then let it start to close. At about halfway closed lift the lid with your hand and viola it stays completely open, giving full access to pull the cans out and empty easily.

You can then lower the lid and you will notice much smoother and quieter operation of your product. When pushing it down, you will hear a slight noise. Answer:	If it makes the snapping sound and you can return it - do so. You have the old version an the updated version (with identical SKU) has fixed this problem which eventually causes breakage.having to return the whole thing when it breaks is really bad customer service since we know simpleHuman knows this is an issue, as they discontinued the design that gives that ungodly "CRACK" when you lower outer lid after changing bags or locking it open for food prep.

Answer:	The lid will always self close on its own, no matter how hard/long you press on the pedal. You can, however, push the lid open further than the pedal opens it, and it will stay open until you flip it back to the close position. In case anyone else wonders on the mixed answers. I can see Odis was the only other one here who bothered to actually investigate this capability.
Question:	How tall is it with lid open? And how wide
Answer:	The hinge needs about 1/2 inch for clearance to open the lid.
Question:	Does this can require your bags or can we use regular 13 gallon bags
Answer:	We empty this about twice a week for our 22 month old in size 4 diapers. It works really well for holding in the odor too. I'll give it a spray with febreze to help it out, too.
Question:	Does this have a hard plastic inner liner
Answer:	Earlier responses are including the pedal and hinge. I misunderstood that, and thought it was 15" tall. Nope. I measure it (not counting pedal or hinge) as: 6.5" D x 11.7" W x 13.2" H. Dimensions of the interior (the inside of the black bin): 5.8" D x 11" W x 11.6" H. (Or 4.75" D x 9.25" W inside the bottom of the black bin, it's tapered.) Photos show a paper grocery bag inside -- there's no way, unless my paper grocery bags are unusually large.

Answer:	I don't have this model. I have the slimline that opens 16".

Answer:	I think it's sturdy. I've not had any problems with it, and occasionally it ends up with "stuff" sitting on (which makes it hard to throw things out, but that's a different issue!). It's a hard, solid plastic, not flexible (which is good!).

Answer:	I use the larger "trash" side for recyclables, since we tend to have more recycling than trash. That could certainly fit a crushed milk jug.

Answer:	It comes with 2 different size bags, one for each side of the trashcan. The bags are white and there are 10 in each size. Personally we do not use the recycling bags because we have a larger dumpster that we empty the recycle items into. We still have our first Simple human can that was for trash only and have had it for 8 years without any issues. Once we moved and they offered recycle bins I knew that I wanted a Simple Human can again. This can is perfect for our needs and would have no problems putting my name out saying that this product is exactly what I thought I was getting and it works great. Answer:	TL;DR: Yes, it's great for this purpose. Love it. Except NOT DOG PROOF. I bought this trash can exactly for this reason. It is perfect for this use. I keep it outside in the backyard, but somewhat sheltered from the sun and rain. It is able to fit plastic grocery bags, which are perfect to collect the poop and then toss the whole thing in the larger garbage can when it's full. The foot pedal makes the poop-picking-up process easy, like when you have a large shovel-full (gross) and you don't have an extra hand to open the lid. The can feels sturdy, like it will last. Sure, it isn't like the heavy duty trash cans that are provided by the trash service, but good enough for general home use. The lid definitely keeps the smell INSIDE THE CAN, which is soooo important. Man, when that lid is opened, it is like death... ugh. Luckily the lid drops quickly once you release the foot pedal. The lid is not heavy at all, but it is heavy enough to close quickly and completely without needing to touch it or close it harder. Some other trash cans I've dealt with in the past have really flimsy-closing lids, and you have to press them again to close them all the way, and those other ones definitely don't keep smells inside; that is NOT the case with this trash can. One thing worth mentioning; This can is NOT DOG PROOF. If you know that your dog is one that likes to mess with things, this can would NOT keep them out. The lid IS ABLE TO OPEN WITHOUT PRESSING THE FOOT PEDAL. A dog could likely get his nose on the lid and open it. Or could tip it over and the contents (gross) would spill all over. My dog doesn't mess with things (so glad), so this is not a factor for me. I will definitely be buying more of this trash can in the future. If I ever have to replace my backyard one, and more for the bathrooms around my house.
