Answer:	If the bag is full and the trash inside is compact, normal kitchen bags will rip on the way out. This is my one complaint with this unit. I switched to using trash compactor bags with it and have not had any rips since.
Question:	Has any body use the electrical adaptor instead of the batteries?, and how it work out
Answer:	Yes I bought two of the AC adapters and have them plugged in. They work great and no batteries to change. There is an add-on for these at about $19 each.. keep shopping/looking, I found the same ones for about $6 each and they work perfect. They simply plug in the back. I have 2 cans side by side- 1 is for recycling... and a small multi strip behind the cans to plug in. Work great!
Question:	can you lock the lid when you leave the house because of a curious dog
Answer:	Yes. There is a small lever that you can swing over the front lip of the door so it mechanically locks it closed. It does MOT however stop the motor from trying to open it if the sensor sees movement on front of it. There seems to be a clutch inside though because it didn't grind gears or break anything when I did this to test it. However... I imagine after a while of this it would damage it. However there IS a power switch on the back to make the motor NOT try to open it. If this is off you can still lift the lid though unless you use the first mentioned lever on the front (mechanical lock)

Answer:	I bought this in 2007, and left a review sometime in '08-'09 about how much I loved this trash can. We are still using the same one and have only had to change the batteries a few times (in 12 years). The only reason I'm buying a new one today is because my kids were messing around the other day and slammed the lid shut, breaking the gear. I just hope my new one can last as long as my first one did (who knows how much longer it could have gone if my kids hadn't busted it)!

The chrome hook goes through the hanger and does not unscrew. Answer:	This post was written in 2016, and here I am in 2020 knowing it's It's luck of the draw if anyone gets a lid that CAN be put on. Mine would NOT. I sat on the lid where the locking of the lid to the can should have taken place, I pounded the same area, I put the trashcan upside down and pressed hard, I pressed hard on top where it should have locked, I eyeballed, maneuvered, even called the company. GUESS WHAT THE COMPANY SAID?? To get a RUBBER MALLET AND POUND. Really?? So potentially damage the product and get no refund?? Nope. It's going back as I write this.

Answer:	Yes, but there is a trick to it. Open the lid with the foot pedal, like normal, then let it start to close. At about halfway closed lift the lid with your hand and viola it stays completely open, giving full access to pull the cans out and empty easily.

Question:	Are these a bit smaller than the office size
Answer:	All 3 are just about the same size as those in an office. However mine were bent when they arrived. I contacted the company but was refused replacements.

Answer:	I don't use bags in mine and the only bags I do use are 13 gallon. I checked one of these in the wastebasket and they could be used but are really too big. Whatever size is the next down from 13 gallon? Eight gallon sounds about right to me too.

Answer:	The closest I found were the 13 gallon trash bags. They fit but you have to fiddle to make sure the tops close correctly. They are a bit big but do work. Can't be a perfectionist with this can but nice enough to fuss with for my purpose.

Answer:	It is now 2020 and mine is slow-closing.
Question:	Diaper pail users: 1 How has it worked with containing odor; 2 Has the plastic liner absorbed the odor, and if so have you been able to get rid of it
Answer:	I have been using this for diapers. 1. It's not perfect at containing odors, but it's acceptable for mild-smelling diapers (pee or breastmilk poop). It would not be acceptable for solids-eating baby poop. There is a faint odor near the can when it's opened even with mild-smelling diapers. 2. The plastic liner does get smelly, but it does not seem to absorb odor. A quick wipe down with a Lysol wipe has it smelling nice again when it happens (infrequently). I use this with plastic bags inside, though -- I don't use it with the plastic interior bin only.
Question:	Amazon lists the dimensions as 10" x 7.6" x 12.1" inches. Yet the can is described as "classic round." How can this be? What's the *diameter

Answer:	No---litter genie works 100% in keeping smell away and has easy dispose bag system. Got 3 cats and it's wonderful, this type won't work....
